DarkFader, I think you have just invented a new subgenre...Middle Ages Steampunk! I like it! Especially the wheels and chains. The wheels on the Orc's catapult thingie make it look nice and the colors are nice steampunk brown dark redish color I love. Unique and original. I just got the Dwarves Mine and the Troll Warship. I originally got them because of the figures too. I love the Dwarfs! The big trolls are awesome too and the dragon. The Orcs are nice too and they have neat swords. I call them Orcs because they look more like Orcs then Trolls. The big trolls look like Ogres. :)

Nice I like how you did the blood using a flag. Looks like a good time to rob the nearest bank ;D

SW-SET 7754 FIGS MISSING! Home-One Mon Calamari Cruiser...
Grimmy replied to Dennimator's topic in General LEGO Discussion
You need to go back there and you ask for the manager. You sound like me a bit, not wanting to bother anyone. But you have can get a new one you just have to be firm and act like your not going to accept the product as is. At most stores, especially if it's a big store, they don't want any angry customers especially since they can get in trouble by higher ups. You have to tell them someone took the figs out then resealed the back and your not taking this you want a replacement. If you shop their often and spend a lot, let them know that you are a good customer their and have spent a lot of money. They should be able to rebox it and sell it for a open box sale to someone else priced as such. If your not good at complaining then bring someone with you who is, the angrier the better. I will be surprised if they give you another one. The store can still sell that product for at least the wholesale cost but you can't take the loss yourself. They know what to do. But I think you said you already opened everything and built the set after they said no? I used to do tattoos so I've had a couple sealers. Lots of people have that cheap sold on TV commercial sealer. You can tell which one they used. Lego's bags are sealed and cut at the same time so like you said you can tell when someone has resealed something. It's just not the same way. -
What LEGO do you expect under the tree this year?
Grimmy replied to Legoliner Pilot's topic in General LEGO Discussion
When I was a kid in school and we did the secret santa thing, and the person asked me what I wanted, I said Legos every time. I'd get one of those small sets. Once we had an odd number of people in my class so the teacher was my secret Santa and I was hers lol. She asked me what I liked, I said Legos. She said Legos are really expensive which is what everyone said. She ended up getting me generic imitation Legos and when I opened she kept asking if it was okay. I was happy! I loved Legos but I rarely got them so even though they were imitation, I was still happy. They were just like Legos but the 2x4 plates were thicker, like 2 Lego plates stacked thick. They were good imitation ones compared to the horrible imitation Lego bucket my parents got me for one Christmas...OMG I was so dissapointed that I had to hide the tears in my eyes. (To top it off my lil brother peed in the bucket with them one day for some reason) I waited all year to get a real Lego set. In my childhood I only had big Lego sets which was a Police Head Quarters and the $52 Legoland Castle that someone has as an avatar on this forum. I guess the budget to spend was really small and I don't remember well, but I don't think Lego had nearly as many small sets as they do now. Now they got a bunch of nice $6 sets. Me and my 6 year old niece put together a Castle Dwarves Mine today and also the Troll Warship and we talked about how everyone keeps asking what I want because they don't know so she said we should get some pirates which I really want too! So I told her that if anyone asks what to get me, tell them to get me a Lego Pirates set. So we can build it together. :) The Troll Warship is awesome and huge btw! -
I've actually looked into buying Lego tables for my niece and me. I've suprisingly never seen the one you posted. I like the trench and this is the first time I've seen that idea. Usually they have drawers under the table or on the right side. On Amazon.com they have a few but what I found are that they just cost too much money for me so I'm going to build one. Nothing really big. We don't have nearly that amount of Legos. I'm going to get some plywood and wood from the basement workshop. My father is a carpenter with many talents. We practically build our house after buying the huse and using it's frame as a skeleton. Nothing you see wasn't made by us. I was just going to glue some big 32x32 plates on the top of the table. After seeing this I think I might make a trench in the middle but that will be a lot more work. I think I would make it so that the table has a hole in the middle to fit one of our plastic tubs that hold Legos so that it can be closed with a tap afterwards. If it was a wooden hole I think it would be tougher to clean. [EDIT] I now noticed that the table in that picture is a kids classroom table. I don't think it's something they sell to everyone?

What LEGO do you expect under the tree this year?

I think you have the right idea! I hate to be a bit saddening in a nice cheerful thread such as this but in my family things are rough. Not much thought is put into gifts. I told my mother I rather have a cheap thing that says it is me then something expensive that is not me at all. When I shop for people for Christmas I try hard to get someone something that they like that says hey I know you and I put some thought into this. My parents are Portuguese and even though she speaks and reads English, my mother can barely tell one Lego set from another. Most Christmas's she just tells me to order something with her credit card, wrap it, and put it under the tree. Or I get money, cold hard cash, which I dislike. It's like they say, "well I'm obligated to get a gift so here don't say I didn't get you nothin." I like Svelte's idea and I may do it myself. I have 2 Castle sets still unopened that I really like. Troll Warship which has a dragon, and Dwarf Mines which also has awesome minifigs too. Though people may look at me funny lol. I could see myself now in front of everyone, "wow what could be in this nice big box! Oh wow just what I wanted, Jason Grimm (my name) how did you know?" -
Nice! Here's one for the Orcs! Wooot! Looks like they sent a nice big stone catapulted into the wall too! I've been seeing a lot of crownies/good guys mocs and it's nice and refreshing to see some baddies making their way into some action too!

I really enjoyed reading your review. I like the funny quick witted observations I especially liked the city pimp guy you made, and the pics with the gold chest falling out the back because of no rail was funny as well as the Trolls (or rather Orcs as some like to call them which they look more like) running away with it hahah!

That has been asked a lot. So far it has been kept secret. I don't think he can reveal it's origin. I don't know but I'm thinkin Lego mob connections! I can't believe Captain BrickBeard's hat doesn't have the skull printed on it like in the Lego Pirates Advent Calendar. That should be a crime!

Why don't they throw in a compass in these big ship sets?
-
That was great! :D I always enjoy reading interviews. They are inspiring. It's always interesting to hear how someone got to such a great high position and achieved so much in life.

Nice review dude! This is the first time I ever see a minifig with a metal plate in his head lol. What a courageous minifig! He probably got the purple heart and was offered honorable discharge but he came back to do military security operations for the miners.

What would you print those on? I'm asking because I would think that the regular printer sticker paper would be too thick and noticeable. Id their a such thing sold as decal printer paper? I know I've seen people with custom figs and always wondered what they use. I remember as a child, I think some of the lego sets came with "decals" instead of "stickers" the difference being that decals were those sucky thin printed clear plastic pieces that you had to dunk in water to make them able to stick on the Legos. I hated those things and would end up crying when they easily teared.

Great review. Lots of nice pictures and I like the humorous guido guy start lol I'm not much of an F1 race car person but I have never seen such a unique front like on the Ferrari in that picture you posted of the real one. What a strange front. It looks like it's barely held on and it has this weird twist and turns. Since they are made out of carbon fiber it must be strong and I'm guessing somehow that front part like that helps with the turning aerodynamics.

Thank you for all the replies. Those websites really helped me a lot and they were really interesting. I like how the guy opened up the motors and showed the details of each unit. @dluders I studied those websites for a while they were exactly what I needed! Darthlegos you might want to check those out too. @DarthLego The Looks really nice like something I would like. It actually has a driver! The minifig spaceman! Those tank tracks look kool and might be better to use in my house then the RC IR car I mentioned buying which only drives on flat smooth surfaces. Plus in the future I could probably build a bigger version to drive in the snow. Bricklink has no full sets and I'm guessing it would be a mission and a half to order part by part? On ebay they are going for $80 except one person has a big stock for $60 plus shipping. I'll think about getting it if I can but might have to wait till after I finish Christmas shopping. Or maybe I will sell my new RC car to get it. @allanp The 8292 cherry picker is really nice, I especially like the design shown on that page which I think is on the back of the box and not the default design. It looks like a ramp truck. (A search on ebay revealed that this other design is actually a dump truck. $100-150 ebay) Search on youtube brought up nice videos but only of the design with a crane on the back. I'd love to have it I'd make a flatbed to transport our new nice Lego cars we have like the classy Indiana Jones ones. You make a great point about what it includes and having lots of things I could use. 1 on ebay for $100 which is the best deal. All of you really had some very helpful information. While doing these searches on the mentioned sets, I found that people get lucky and find these sets at stores cheap sometimes for hald price. Well I think my problem is that I buy 90% of everything online! I rarely buy anything from stores because everything is way cheaper online...well except Legos apparently. Their value goes up higher then gold prices during Christmas holidays! I've gone to Target, Walmart, Toy's R' us recently and they don't have anything old. No dusty desperate old Lego sets on the shelves for half price around here but at least the new ones on the shelf are selling for retail price or slightly less. I have a question about buying parts on Bricklink. I've only done one order. Is their a way to look up the entire parts list on a discontinued set and get a price estimate? Or do I have to search for a parts seller with huge inventory and check my list part by part? The guy I bought from before doesn't have the wheels and matching tires on the website dluders mentioned. Thanks again everyone, I have more options now to think about. :)

I used to take apart my remote control cars as a kid and make some crazy creations. I even melted some plastic and formed new parts from old toys. I just bought a Power Functions Box Kit and the # 8183 Track Turbo RC The car is kool but isn't very fast and doesn't turn as well as normal RC cars and I wish it wasn't IR RC, I wish it was RF. Anyway, I haven't even opened the PF kit because it doesn't even come with anythting to build with. It only comes with 2 gears. No technics axle. I bought it with the intention of using it with the Legos we got and teaching my niece about how simple electronics work to make toys go. I'm not sure what to do. I've watched a lot of videos on youtube about making gears and cars. At first I thought I'd but I guess I should buy some pieces from bricklink but I'm not sure what to buy and don't even know which tire goes with what rim. So then I thought maybe I should buy a technics set but I don't really like technics pieces how they are so weird and non-Lego brick. Though I've never owned a technics set, I've used the pieces in regular sets since Lego has incorporated them into all sets. I'm not into the farm vehicles. I figure it'd prob be best to buy a Technics set where I can start to learn. I've seen the Off Roader on youtube and it looks great but wow it costs $120!! I really like some of the RC Trucks people MOCed. The crane truck is nice but too much money for me it's $150 and sold out. I could do without the crane and the other things. This Snow Groomer would be awesome if it could actually work and go over snow but it can't. I read the reviews it doesn't even have motor options. How many volts are those motors rated? Are the 9v max? They must be since the huge battery box is 1.5v AA x6. That thing must be heavy when full! My RC car uses 3 AA rechargeables which are rated at 1.2v each so obviously that's slowing it down. The rechargeable brick is $50 and then you have to buy the $25 transformer/adapter which is Euro and not US 110. I could probably rig up my own 9v rechargeable brick for a lot less. I'd appreciate any advice and thoughts

Signed! It would save me some money buying them for a lot of money off ebay. I'd love to see them back and get a real good chance at them.

Review: 7590 Toy Story Woody and Buzz to the Rescue
Grimmy replied to Pugsly's topic in LEGO Licensed
Great review! I've been waiting to see these sets as I love the movies and loves the demo pics I had seen. My 6 year old niece will love these especially since we used to play with pull back wind-up cars. Will be really kool to see a view on youtube of the set. Woody looks way too tall and it looks weird when Woody stands next to Buzz. They shouldn't have added on an extra stud on his legs. Woody's head is tall enough to make woody appear taller then buzz without having had added the longer legs. Surely the creators would have made a test casting to see that the height was too much? If you make a video and put it on youtube right now you will be the first to review a Lego Toy Story set and you'll get a ton of views! All their is right now is people with videos of promotional pictures we've all seen. -
Thanks for the reasurance, it did help a bit. Well I got it! The guy had bought two, one for his son and one for another family member but didn't end up needing it. He only paid $67 and has had it kickin around since then which explains why he was selling it for $50. They are much more expensive on ebay. It's new too, not even opened. I didn't get mugged while answer a Lego sale ad! Hooray! Now I got 2 Castle Sets now!

Lego Toy Story set out in US Reviews of 7595 and 7590
Grimmy replied to Pugsly's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yup, there is a part in the movie where he loses his hat and gets all worried about it because he's in a rush to get ready for Andy to take him to Cowboy Camp. -
Ahhhh *smacks forehead* I see now, I guess that shoulda been obvious. So that makes the bad guys, "Skullies?" The skull on their shield would hmake a nice tattoo.

I think they looks great. Would have been nice if Woodys hat came off but I guess they wanted to save on an extra mold step process. On the other hand, no stickers, they printed right on most likely using their usual silk screen process.

Am I missing something here, why don't you just use the Power Function Lights? Those Lifelite bricks remind me of the light brick that came with my Winter Toy Shop. Some people thought it should have an on and off switch which would have been great but those tiny watch batteries aren't going to last long and buying more can get expensive and wasteful. I always use rechargeable. Nothing against the guy that created them as I do think they look great. It'd be better to use at least a AA rechargeable even if you won't be hiding it. But I know some want that real lego feel. I think it's easier just to hook up some LEDs to a Radioshack multi volt transformer/adapter. For those of you who have no idea how to do this, it is very basic electronics. All you have to know is voltage and what a positive and negative are which you probably already know since you know how to insert a battery. Maybe someone can make a tutorial on how you can do this. I would if I had some time. If you got some toy cars with lights or anything like that kickin around in the attic never being used, you can easily recycle them into a light system.

I dunno what Lego ships you guys are sailing, when I was a kid I brough a Lego ship to the bath tub and it just sank. Not very good for sailing if you ask me. Good thing it was just a test and had no minifigs on board or they could have drowned.
