New BrickForge Products!
Bonaparte replied to Hound Knight's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Now that I see this picture, I have a question. The 3rd helmet from the left, will it become available again on Brickforge? I think that's the most awesome helmet they ever produced and I only bought one of them at the time they were available. I would love to get some more! -
I've adjusted your title accordingly

I'm faster than CGH I was thinking the same but lI'll leave the final word to CGH as it's his thread.

Yes, you'll need to dig up what exists already inside ship WIP threads. Bring it all together in an index and then see what's missing. I'm sure we can motivate some to fill in the gaps in the index once an initial version is ready. I suggest you take a look at some existing indexes to learn the tricks behind making a well structured index. Good luck! If someone remembers a useful technique mentioned somewhere in the pirates MOC forum, let's help the good Commodore and post a link here.

Adding a sub-forum has some annoying side effects. It always sits on top of the main forum and pushes all the topics down. Having some of them on top makes us all scrolling down to see some real topics. Another negative side effect is possibly reduced activity for the threads in the sub. Suppose we make a specialized sub forum for ship building (containing the WIP threads and some about techniques), then it is very likely that only ship fanatics might go there and most main-stream pirate fans won't stop by anymore. I've seen such things happen during my time on Eurobricks. BUT, while a whole sub-forum would be a bit much, an index with ship build tutorials and links to interesting WIP ship threads would do the job (and has none of the annoying side effects mentioned above). We can link to this index from our main pirate index. I do like this idea if we modify it a bit and collect all the posted techniques (and WIP threads explaining techniques) in such an index. Even when in the middle of a large WIP thread a technique is explained, it is possible to provide a link directly to that particular post in the thread. Any takers for making a "Ship Building: Techniques Index"?

TUTORIAL How to resize pictures using MS Paint
Bonaparte replied to Lord Of Pies's topic in Forum Information and Help
Make sure you save them after resizing them. Delete the old ones on BS and put the new ones there. -
The Eurobricks Reviewers Academy

Welcome! -
Same request as in the other thread: Please resize the picture. The maximum allowed picture width on Eurobricks/Classic-Pirates.com it 800 pixels. Need help? These tutorials explain it all.

The ship looks good, BUT before we go into that please resize the picture. The maximum allowed picture width on Eurobricks/Classic-Pirates.com it 800 pixels. Need help? These tutorials explain it all.

Seems the answer is given, so I'll close this. Please do look around a bit in the future, you'll find a pinned thread about this subject in "Website and Forum".

Svelte's entry is really good, me like it a lot. But with all his tags and medals he's starting to look more and more like this president from a Belgian comic series

There is another option, but some would call it cheating. Once, the famous Lego ship builder Richie Dulin had cut the standard hull sections in two. It's a destructive technique as you have to use a saw to cut them right in the middle. That way you can put some distance between the left and right part which allows you to build a wider ship on 'standard' hull. You're right, a 3-decker it is. I must have been drinking too much rum when I typed my response

MOC: Cause putting out a fire with just one truck is hard
Bonaparte replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in LEGO Town
Stunning work Captain. Looks so very much like the real thing, makes me forget it's made out of Lego -
First of all, the broadside of this ship look amazing! It's a pure demonstration of overwhelming firepower. The stern look equally mighty. The rigging has room for improvement. It should be attached on the side of the ships as can be seen here. Of course, giving it real rigging with ropes will be even better (but time consuming). This being a 4-decker on standard hull pieces makes the upper deck rather narrow, only solution is to go for a brickbuild hull. Maybe something for a future project?

I still don't understand why someone would make something like this But it looks good, funny, well build!

Some changes to the forum layout
Bonaparte replied to Bonaparte's topic in Forum Information and Help
I guess there's no perfect way to group themes, it can always be debated and there are probably a lot of combinations that make sense. We can't put every theme and sub-theme in it's own forum (that will make our main page a nightmare) so we will always have to live with a grouping of themes based on certain criteria. The current grouping make a lot of sense to me and the staff, but we also realize there are other groupings that would make sense. For several reasons I like the current grouping over the old one (as an example, it takes a theme like agents out of an already very active city forum). So we'll stick with the current layout as it is. -
Some changes to the forum layout
Bonaparte replied to Bonaparte's topic in Forum Information and Help
We've placed all historical themes which are actually situated in their corresponding time in the past in "Historic Themes". Following that logic, Wild West belongings in Historic Themes (since it's actually happening during the time of indians and cowboys) and Adventures belongs in Action (it's often about history, but the timeline of the theme is the present). So a theme is in the "Historic forum" when it's situated in it's historical context. That is the current logic. Exception is WW as it was never an official Lego theme, so we left it in "Other Themes". Seeing some of the arguments, I'm discussing with the staff to move Adventurers from "Action Themes" to "Historic Themes" because the fan base in Action Themes (with Agents, Power Miners, etc) is very different from the fan basis of the older Adventurers theme (who's fan basis is more leaning towards the themes now in "Historic Themes"). For the moment, world war (WW) is still in "Other Themes", but if Adventures should go to "Historic Themes", why not move World War to "Action Themes" because there's a thin line between some of the Agent MOC's and some WW MOCs. Thoughts? Anyway, we are listening to the arguments made in this thread and might do some fine-tuning in the near future. To be continued -
Vintage Minifig V3 contains a BLUECOAT!
Bonaparte replied to Commodore Hornbricker's topic in LEGO Pirates
Seeing this picture in Nannan Z.'s fotostream on Flickr I'm expecting they will be available on S@H soon -
Since the minifigs used for making a Napoleonic MOC or army are the often same ones as the Imperial Soldiers (or Guards for the English) it makes a lot of sense to keep them in the Pirates forum. But it's of course debatable.

The staff has done some more structural changes to the forum layout besides Sci-Fi which was announced a bit earlier by Siegfried. LEGO History & Adventure has been split into LEGO Historic Themes (Castle, Ninja, Vikings, Wild West) and LEGO Action Themes (Adventurers, Agents, Alpha Team, Aquazone, Dino 2010 / Dino Attack, Power Miners, Rock Raiders, Time Cruisers). Split is maybe not the correct word because the new LEGO Action Themes forum also contains Agents, Power Miners, ... . Have a look for yourself You shall also notice a few forums now being in a different category (e.g. Lego General Discussion and News; Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds). This is all part of a rationalization which the staff worked on these past few weeks. What more can you expect over the coming weeks/months? Besides exiting new graphics for some of the theme forums we'll launch one new forum and one new sub-forum. But you'll find out more about that when it happens Discuss? Remarks? Go here please.

Welcome to EB Rick! If you want we can fix your displayname without the 77 at the end. Seems the other Rick has never used his account (and it's 2 years old). Let me know if you want me to change yours.

No no, if you have below 10 posts you can't PM anyone. It's a protection against PM spam we have put in place. But now J.L. Hornblower can send PM's because I've altered his account manually.
