Hi. Mr Phes asked for the picture i used as an inspiration. got my scanner fixed and her it is. Now im leaving for some time, maybei come back one day. the "1.april joke" knocked me down to hard 8-| Something is not ment to be joked about.

today i've been fooled 4 times. two was things that was 50-50 to be true ( a friend of mine said he manage to take a salto while skiing, and i know hes been trying that for some time so that could be true, but wanst) and the other two was something that i never could take for a joke, someone told me that a friend of mine had got cancer and this joke of shutting down eurobrick, right after that. to be true, i was first shocked by the news of my friend and to get my mind over at something else i logged on to eurobricks only to find that closed down.and later found that both was aprils fool.. that was simply to much. have a nice day, im Leaving now. and dont know if im coming back to this forum. *sad* Bj

hmm. im at work now. working at another station these week. just spoke to another of my co workers. and he dont recognize the copper carbonate color. as said before, we see that where copper is exposed to air (Oxygen) and salt (by air or by sea water or by salt in the ground. ) I wont argue against a Professor *sweet* , but like i said, i dont recognize the color of the copper under water. the green color is a normal sight on copper lines and high voltage equipment in free air, like the pic of the liberty statue. under water or burid under ground it get a color like the wire part i took a pic of. maybe its metal from fasten our sea high voltage cabels that make the color. but then wouldnt a ship hade the same color. they too have metal in near distance? perhaps the professor can tell something about that? X-D

Hehe mr Phred. do that. im in nOO way a chemister :-D all i know is from what i see when we either repair or remove old copper. This is a pic of copper, the clamp to left is brand new, the wire has been in ground and the litle clamp has been in wet and low oxygen environment. if it had been in the sea, it would have been more red than this. but i couldnt find any real sea corroded copper now. Inside the copper look as shiny as the new clamp. if we bruch the brown copper it will look like the shiny one. sorry for the quality of the pic. was taken in a hurry :-$
-
Yes but the green color comes when copper is exposed both to air and water/moist if its submerged under water it dont get that green. thats what i meant Bj

I have to take a short trip at work tonight. ill find some copper and see if we have any with the right color. if i find it ill take a pic and post it here. ill brush some of it so you can see the different colors. Bj
-
This is how copper couild look like when beeing in contact with salt or periods of water-dry-water-dry I work at a powercompany and we use alot of copper. i think the best color for copper that is under water 99% f the time is more reddish brown than this green/blue color. but at the water line this color can occur. i have made so many own names of parts that if i install mlcad again they wont be there. i think.
-
Yes thanks alot. im going to reinstall mlcad sometime. but im afraid i will loose a lot of my models and so one so i therfor will wait until i have made drawings of all i have started on. i have the book with the pic of a drawing of one of the English semaphore stations. will find it this weekend and make a scan of it. then youll see :)

hi mr Phes. my plan is to build the station for real , but dont have enough parts yet. and im sick and dont have energy for doing so much nowdays. but as i get enough lego ill build at least one of these. i have made a map of an island wich i want to have as my own colony. and there i will need at least two signal stations . and to mr Phred : you can read this article on Wikipedia about Semaphore, i have some parts of an old norwegian book that i have used, but mainly everything stand in this article. I have made some changes to the cannon added a lever base in the back and two 1x1 round plates to make the barrel longer.
-
Hi again got some new pic on BS now. where you can see some interior of the building. also added a cannon with a low wall to it. As i said before. this is notment to be a battle position, only a lookout ans signal station places on a hilltop or high mountain. Where the guard can see far distance and in case he see something he can send a signal back to the fort(or fleet base or whatever you need to give an alert) either direct or via several similar station that constant check the station before and after them in the chain for new signals. the cannon is to use in case the signals are not spottet right away or if its urgent that it will be delivered . To mr Phred . the first time a visual telegraphis spoken about(apparently) was by an Englishman called Robert Hooke who speaked to the Royal Society in 1684 but that was never fully functional. in about 1790 the French Claude Chappe and his brothers startet building a semaphore network that was in use in France until ca1850. England and Spain had several lines to, and in Sweeden. In Sweeden the last operating semaphore line was between an island and mainland sweeden.it closed in 1880 .. thanks alot everybody *sweet* it feel'good to read those compliment's :-$

Im trying to make models in mlcad but i got small parts missing all the time. like a dat file called 1-4con1 .dat and 1-4con2.dat wich is missing on the muskett for example. there should be a place where we could exchange these files here.

Hi everybody. sorry for not giving an explanation of what an semaphore station is. will try to do that now. It was used befor the telegraph to send messages over far distance by a cvhain of stations that was placed within sight of each other. or between ships or other items out of range for the human voice. it could be done with flags , position of arms on a pole opened or closed windows in special towers. if anyone have seend a ww2 war movie then you probebly had noticed a signal man with two flags that send signals to some other ship/plane/company. Thats Semaphore. Many countrys like England ,France, Sweeden and Spain made their own style of semaphore stations . their main purpose was military, to send messages of enemy and other urgent thing. this was much faster than a horseman could ride with a letter. In semaphore each position of the flag(or whatever they used to signal with) meant something. and you had to have access to the code list to understand what it meant. so to you mr Phred. the blue and red flags are what this station use to signal with. havent made a code list for it yet but it will come. It will not have cannons as this is not a battle station, only a small cannon for making noise so that the nearby fortress could be noticed . And to Mr Bonaparte. i have a pic in a book that show a drawing of one of the stations the English used, and made my station with that as a inspiration.
-
i've made a MLcad model of a semaphore station that i will use to maintain contact over bigger distances. it will have about 4 men to crew it. two operators and two or three from the army to guard it. It will also be equipped with a small cannon to get attention from the HQ or other stations Some pics are here does this look to bad or? havent put on any decorations or other stuff to make it look better, will do that if i get the spirit over me to actually buildt this :)
-
i havent done any major updates on my fortress yet. been sick for a while now so havent done much. but im drawing a lot while im to bed. so i have plans. the close part are going to be lowered compared to the L shape main fort. and i have made a small bastion/outpost I also have started to plan some signal stations and make a map of an island where it all will be. for the troops i was thinking of the showoff style like this pic but i found a topic on that on Eurobric main page. think it will belong there more than in a moc index.

the last month i've been buying almost all i could from BL, of the imperial guard blue epaulette. from feb and to now ive bought 29 soldiers :-D expensive yes but i need them :-$ when i get all of the troops im waiting for i think i have about 50 imperial guards with blue eupalets .. not bad. but if someone want to trade imperial soldiers for imperial guards please let me know . :)
-
i've seen that my little fortress have gone from the land moc list. i did some changes on my brickshelf page and renamed the age. how does people give you Bonaparte info about it so you can change the index? the link is on the pic btw: for those of us that enjoy to make our "armymoc" like setting up one or two armies that attack each other, is that something that belong here or?
-
nice squad Phred :) the admiral in the in middle front, thats not a orginal imperial soldier? but lookd good , hehe.

Hi there. im not sure of wich pirate you mean. is it one of these? havent seen any names of them. but perhaps someone else have.

The right string end is LEGO string. the other one is some string that we use to repair our fishing nets here. dont know any good word for it in english. but we can buy it in many of the stores that sell equioment to the fishermen. its quite stiff and look like a pitch dyed rope :)
-
I got a string/cord thats look quite like the one from lego. i can get houndreds of meters of it if i want. here's a pic of it. what do you think of this? sorry for bad pic :-$ . but there is one lego string and one nonlego string.

Hi Pfred. you can try this article on Wikipedia It look quite good. but if there is any questions about norwegian sites or things you dont find in english sites then give me a hint and ill try to find it out for you. im in no way a Viking expert but allways been intr in the daily life of the viking time. and im very proud of my forefathers who could give so much fear to europe (we are a little people up here. so every time we can beat the mighty europe we like that :-P I hope mr 007 didnt get offended of my answer to his post. that was not my intention

Of corse it was fun :-D thats why i like that theme :) i guess the forestmen in the castle heme didnt look like the real forestmen either, but they look cool too :-) do you know from wich part of norway your forefathers came from?
