-
welcome to the pirate world Commodore :-) Lets hunt down some pirates :-D Hi Jamtf. dont scare him off 8-| I also think he's a good guy. he's just a normal english gentleman. In the first movie he fought bravely and never gave up. *y*

So I thought I'd upgrade one of my Eldorado Fortresses
Tordenskjold replied to Landlubber's topic in Pirate MOCs
Fy F..N! As i would say in my language. that is the best fortress i've seen. make my fort look like a ugly black thing. hope you will add some more cannons and take more pics of it. Do you made this moc just for fun or is it a part of a "world" ? love the color and the unregular shape. *sweet* -
Thanks Mr Admiral. do you have any hint of how i can make shrouds for my topmast? im thinking of using rope and make them my selves. but i would be glad for any idea for that. :-$
-
Im Sorry . but i dont have any pics of the camo suit. but its a thin sheet. due to some cemicals it have some waterproof capasity . that make it a little bit stiffer than normal cotton for ex. i have to buy a dress like that from a store that sell things the military dont need any more. I might try with some other stiff sheet to see if i got it right. but i want to have some sort of white color on the sails. btw i know what this part of the standing rigging is called ;-) but i wont argue any more. ill call it the ropeladders :-D
-
I didnt quite understand what you mean mr Phes. but anyway, im planning of making my own boat mast rigging by using thin rope(about the size as the ropes that come with the lego sets . but i havent found what im looking for yet. (to expencive to buy LEGO ropes) For Sails i have a idea of using some white leftover from a wintercamo dress from the military. its as thin as a tshirt but more stiff. (think that would look more like a sail with a lot of salt in. )
-
its true that it mean a the burial sheet but in nautical term its the name of that part of the standing rigging. i use a book that cover the Royal Navy at Jack Aubrey's world(Patrick O' Brian's books) the pic was of my old boat. i called it HMS Predator. thats why i didnt check the pic. :-$ when i find the right material ill make my own topmast shrouds. because the small boatmast rigging look to strange to me.
-
Do you have a link to that ship mr Phes? And for your q about "shrouds" . This is shrouds as lego made it: Shrouds are the name of that part of the standing rig on a sailing vessel to mr Berry Syedow. i have been thinking of custom made sails. but havent found the right material to make them yet. To everyone. thanks for all the nice coments. look like i finally buildt something that look good :-D

nice little MOC. but as someone said. wont the pirate (and guards bringing food and checking the prisoner get wet when going from the barrack to the cell? ) would be a lot more easy if they had a gangway over to the cell instead of have to use the boat every time :-) but a good Moc i think.

I like the Ship. it look a bit short for the hight of the hull , i like better having 6 studs between gunports, but thats my meaning :-$ but a great ship. dont like the fact that its a pirate ship, but i recon ill manage it with my new Predator even as this one is bigger :-P btw does this one have a name? and if it doesnt, should we give it a name(just so we can refer to it. like we can with Soleil Royal or other Mocs. if not a name, at least a "working Title" or something like that. its more easy than referring to "the large twodecker with high stern and a lot of green on" just my thought. Greetings from Northern part of Norway *sweet*

Hi mr Tiber. I agree, the rigging is to short. but i tried to use the short shrouds from the Tops to support the Topmasts. but that looked to strange to me. so im looking for some very thin ropes to make shrouds that will fit. and as you can see, i also miss a lot of Stays and backstays. but im not sure of how much rope i should use. as the ship now is more like what you get in a TLC set.

Hi Mr Phes. Whats the different between the first pic and the old one?` cant see any different?? Greetings Tordenskjold -
Hi Mr Phes. if you look at below the fore mast youll see a black square. thats two black bricks (3001 2x4) and one of them should be a brown one. plus i had no brown slope bigger than 2x2 so everything is a bit unstabile. i need a lot of black cone1x1(4589) and tiles and the tiny round plates (4073)as the arrow point at here. to make that fence. (Pic found on Peeron) I also need to make a mittzen sail to fit on the mitzen mast. cant find anyone big enough. And i also aint pleased with the red gun ports. i want to refit it with brown or black. or does that look bad you think? Last i need a mast piece (30047) as i use to make the long bowsprit and long mainmast

14d I've made a new version of Predator, my large naval ship. i took it complete apart and rebuilt it. i think this version is much better. but i miss some parts. Here it is the other pics are here
-
Mr Tiber. you said "technic tubes" do you have a number for them that i can find on bricklink? try to look after that but couldnt find anything that looked like that.
-
i kind of like the boat. if you got your hands on some of the longer oars you can use it as a cunboat like the one we had here in norway after a little man called Nelson took our fleet :-$ those was simple design, cheap to build and easy to handle. and that ship look like just that.
-
Very NICE. TLC have something to learn from you. that moc could go straight into production. you even got the picture to look like it came from a lego catalog. close enough to perfect to me :-D
-
sorry for that mr tber. but i was looking at your carronade when i wrote that :-$ but your and admiral starwind's carronade look almost as the same,
-
Great carronade and cannon mr Tiber. but doesnt the muzzle look small when we know taht a carronade muzzle would be very large compared to the cannon? and one other thing ive been thinking of is that of making smaller guns for the possibillity to have different sized guns on the same ship. the prefab carriage with wheels is 4 stud wide and even if you made your own barrel the whole gun would still be 4 wide. have tried to build a smaller one but without sucess. do you have any thoughts of that mr Tiber?
-
nice ship. but to me it look like the fore mast is leaning a bot forward, is that true and if is it for some purpose or just that you have mountet a little "wrong" if i can call it that. by the way, the sails. what are they made from. look custom made to me. but i want them look great :-D

As mentioned, painting is expencive, very expencive sometimes. but anything made from wood would last longer if its protected, and many ships was tared to prefent them from rot. that made a dark "background" and with only smaller amount of painting a ship could look both fresh and better (in the captains eyes at least) so a rich kaptain/shipowner could spend some money on painting just as a showoff to others. And some could also use money on painting to look like heroes, Patrick O`Brian tell about that in one of the books where a captain paint his ship just like HMS Victory is painted. Sails was mostly white (or beige looking) because of two things. it was light color on(some but not all) the cloth that they made sails from. and the salty wind and sea + the sun would bleach the cloth anyway. but a completly white sail would be nearly impossible to get. just thing of a new t-shirt that you put on before you start working, it would soon be less white than a new one.

thats a veery difficult thing to answer. at the pirate age (and even today) sailors and other people belived in Kraken and other "monsters" they was as real as a cod or a salmon. so with that im my memory i had to vote yes to add monsters. but i agree, time travellers and so on is way to much. but adding some of the things sailors and people belived in would be great for making pirate world more complete. Last week i heard a old fisherman tell about a place called UtR
