I voted for being the one to end all. been reading the other posts here and i agree with both those who say it is small compared to the ships and Port Royal. but i also have to agree with those who point on the parents and money , and the size compared to the other sets in pirate world. for me this set look simple. its just a raised BP and a small wall with 1,5 tower on. and two guns. but if i forget that im 30 and try to think as a 8-10 year old boy( not so hard for me to do :-D ) i get a different perspective. 1 i have only two hands. so having 20 minifigs and 10guns in one set is two many for me to move around. 2 im only ten year old. and this is quite big for me to buildt alone. i want to play with it fast , not sit and build forever. 3 when it was released it was a expencive set for my parents to buy, my sister also demand such big things for x-mas/birthday 4 its a simple design so my hands could fit into the set without breaking it . 5: no matter the number of guns. in my imagination i can defend my selves even if the real Victory came( this is lego, ment to be played with and when im playing everything can happen) 6: its small enough for me to move it allone. so i can take my set with me and visit my friend and we can play together with our sets. This was just some thougts i made when i try to se it as if i was a kid . One other thing with the number of guns on Eldorado and BSB SES . on land you can easily increase the caliber of a gun. like its ok to have 24pounders on land while you would need big framings and timber on a ship to support a 24 pounder on a ship. on land the ground isnt moving so aiming would be easier and a rock is harder to smash than a ships hull. placing a gun in a open battery on land would give the gun crew every advantage over the guncrew of a ship. So i would guess that a land battery of two 24pounders on revolving bases would have a good chance against a ship with perhaps only 12pounders. the land based guns could fire heated shots. starting fire on the ship. a fortredd like The Castillo de San Marcos in St. Augustine Florida had about 25 guns from the smallest 2pounder to the largest 36 pounder. and it defended the city against invaders several times. These thing make me vote for the Eldorado being the end of all fortress. But i also would like a bigger one :) my main fortress is on 6 48x48 plates :-$

I would have a more sivillian theme. the present sub themes are either imp guards imp soldiers pirates or imperial armada. what i think is missing is a more colony style. with bakers blacksmith servants governor . In my theme there would be a new raised baseplate(32x32) with two 90deg egdes so several plates could be buildt together in larger islands or bases. and then small sets like a Inn and a blacksmith( castle serie have one so why dont we get the same) been looking at the town and castle serie and there are so many independent sets that can be added to a town or other model area to improve it. thats why i think about this . 1.small : *boats(longer than the rowboat today with fisherman. (adding fish to the legoworld) with possibillity to add sails *wagons with goods ,food ets and a minifig 2.small set: *house/ hut (fisherman hunter farmer etc) 3.medium : *town houses ( bakery, shops , office(trading, colony, bank, etc) * small base for fishermen,smugglers or just settlers . Buildt on the new type of raised baseplate so kids or we could make bigger models by setting them together. Large: * trading ship(lightly armed with smaller cannons(new type of prefab guns) ) 3 masts large crew and several different kind of goods. with a wider prefab hull perhaps 20 or 24 wide * harbour with cranes and storehouses wagons and several minifig, should fit the new type of raised baseplates so it can be included in a town or base or island Perhaps not the best idea but this is what i would go for.

me like . me want , me WAAANT that army. *crying * :-D a huge army you have. like both the french and the british one. as for my own troops i have about 120 imperial guards and 40 imperal soldiers. and been thinking of making my own regmiments, not just red or blue. but for ex : 4 regiments of 30 men (imperial guards) but im wondering about seveal things about army making, do you have a fixed standard number of the regiment on foot? or have you just divided what you have into regiments? i cant see in the pictues but do your troops all look the same or do you make coloring or modifications on soldiers from diffierent regiments? (im talking of the standard infantry regiments). Again i really like your army. will be a tough enemy to meet for my little one :) greetings Thunder :)

Nice little ship. and wellarmed too. perhaps like what a pirate would be. small and many guns :) If you havent had that middle big gun i could call that a gunboat. In norway we had alot of gunboats during napoleon wars and there was two types. one with onlo one gun and one with one big gun in each end and some smaller one on ontop like you have :) does this ship have a name or? Thunder

How about using tecnic for framing. and filling in with plates? some of the tecnic bricks are quite long so you should be able to get a good diameter for it.

very nice ship. alot of beutiful details make me wish i was that good in building ships i like the way you have the side of the stern pointing inwards. make it look more like a real ship. maybe i have to steal that idea :-D

Thanks *sweet* nice to hear. im working on a mlcad moc of a small farm now. they need some food there i think :) but cant post pics now. as my internet is down at home. I have also started to plan a sort of fishermans hut too. but that is only schetces yet.

Thanks folks :) *sweet* i'm working on that harbour every weekend now. its my 1. priority now. hopefully i will have that more complete soon Mr Phred. only thing you havent put in that index is my fortification on Bastion Point A small fortification that act as a lookout and first defence of the harbour area.

hehe if you need some more imperial soldiers i have about 30 of them. or perhaps they are just captured enemy soldiers :-D do you have any plan of how big you are going to make this army? if you have some imperial guards we can trade POW's ;-) really like your army my friend

Been working a bit on my harbour/ dock area this weekend. its far from completed but a bit better than my last version. (click on the first pic to see ekk that i will upload about this. tried to make a crane. this have two ropes. can lif or lower the crane arm and take in or give out on the lifting rpe

Nice Imperialshadows :) that can make a sort of scale for us to make lego mocs for . we also have this island. but this doesnt have the right shape.

Nice house . but if that was a true northern house i think i would have added a fireplace to ceep away the winter hehe. but like it alot. and the roof idea is great. perhaps i have to borrow that to some of my own houses. the armory thing and the historic thing can be true. there was some northern kings/lords that used armory. but it was so expencive that a normal man couldnt afford it so many had to use leather armor. only thing not historic true there are the horns on the helmets :-D but its a great moc *y*

hi folks. first i want to ask. is it this map we are talking of? And if we then make this resize to 20x20cm and then try to get a scale of it. is that what you meant? If it is, i think this must be a rather small map(show a little area) reason for that is this 1: a safe anchor place is marked, even on a map scale of 1:50000 (1cm=500m) the area for safe anchor will be about 750mx750m and on maps that would be useless as they need a more precise place(in most areas of the world.) 2: X mar the spot. again in scale 1:50000 that mark would be about 500mx500m and who is willing to dig that big area to find a chest with gold. 3: the map islands and land. if the scale is to big the islands would be to big also. 4: compare scale against real world. the map is 20x20 cm and with a scale of 1cm=5km (1:500000) the map will cover an area of 20x5km= 100km each way or an area of 10000km2 the island to the left is about 6,5x3,5(on a 20x20cm map) and in 1cm=5km scale that will make a island of 32,5kmx17.5km=569km2 and thas quite a big island. bigger than Grenada. So my idea would be to look at the islands and just make a scale out of that. if we say that we want the island in west to be about 20km long it will make the scale about 1:310000 and if we then say 1:300000 to be simple the whole map will be about 60kmx60km =3600km2 This is just my thougts about this. hope its not too confused to you :)

i have also two places to live. but for me it is to much work to have lego here and transport things between here and home. now im at work. have a small flat here. and each weekend i drive home. about 120km one way. so i keep all my lego at home. in that case i have something to do in bad weather. that little kid come by today and plyed a bit with my lates set i got. the black sea barracuda. and he couldnt understand why he cant get the ship, when all i do is build it and not play with it :) just love that child *sweet*

Hi Folks. after work today i got a Q from the son of one of those i work with. "what will you do when you are finish'ed with all the lego building.?" good question *sweet* how do i tell that boy that i never get finish? , he dont understand why i buildt. all he se is : build then play, and then get some more sets. :-D but a good question. if i get a LOT of moc's and sets finished (and so good that i dont want to break them up again.)what then? i mean. im 29+1year now and i hope i have many years before me with lego. but i dont have room for all i build. and imagine the value of the orginal sets when im 100 years old hehe. i guess i have to build and extra house for lego only. and perhaps make a sort of wonderland there or donate the whole thing to a good thing. like the hospital or . but what do you do when you are finished with a moc and want to keep it for good? Perhaps confusing of me to write this, just got so charmed by that little boy :) so this is more or less just my thoughts Bj

Nice army. Do you have plans for how big you want it or is it more to get they look as good as possible you want? i set up my soldiers and guards this weekend. that not all of the men. some are at duty :-D but my "problem is that i dont have that many different faces to use. they look more or less as a clone army to me. so i really like your army.

Yesterday i started working of a dock or what the english word is :-$ . its not much yet, most a sort of see how i want it. the white house will have two floors, the upper one will be in same hight as the town. so a boat can be unloaded and goods liftet up bu the rope and into the upper floor and then transportet into town if wthay need to do that. at the left there will be a crane i think. above the brown doors. more will come. this is just a beginning.

From what i can se on BL it look like a good trade. Eldorado cost 80usd (next is over 100usd) for the cheapest but that is without instruction and box. and CC is cheaper than on BL. so it depend of the shipping cost. The torso and hats look like a normal price to me. i have one of the "Steve" minifigs, the one from Imperial trade station. and it is so expencive that i cant afford to use him :-$ what a shame, its a good and nice minifig. i think that is the most rare. btw rare = strange in norwegian so for pirate minifig i would say the rareste fig is those with this torso and arms. How is he going to be able to draw that knife with a arm with a hook on :-P hihihi

Yes Please. i buy them if they made a imperial 2 decker :-D im going home on my holiday now. if weather goes bad ill build on my lego , and perhaps do something like you done with your Fort Brighton. btw. why named it Fort B when its a port more than just a fort? is there a big reason for that? Thanks. i know it need more city life. and im working on it. but it take time , first i have to get lego for what i have planned and then i have to build the houses and other life.

I was in town last weekend. and wnt into a toystore to look for some lego. and then i found a BSB legend that i bought for 550kr (thats about 90-92USD) ill recon thats quite cheap:) it Was standing at the back of a shelf all alone , and just waiting for me i think. :-D *y*

Thats not quite true my friend. a third rate ship would have two gundecks and still would be rated as ship of the line. But a rather good ,short expl of it *y* Hi and welcome to the real world :-D dont worry about your english. as long as im here there will at least be one person here who write less good english *sweet* For the ship of the line thing. Royal Navy made six rates+ unrated(cutters, sloops and brigs etc) for ex, a 50 gun (on two decks) was a 4th rate ship and until 1756 a ship of the line but after that it was two small for the line of battle. and therefore would be named frigate instead of battleship(=ship that fight in the line of battle) At first a "Ship" was to have 3 square rigged masts. with less than that it was classed as a sloop or brig. . so naval terms are hard to understand. my advice is to read on internet. like wikipedia or other pages. If you are building a first rate ship, it would need about 100++ in guns and if we then have 3 deks it would lead to about 15-20 guns on each deck(each side) on a real ship. but if you take a look at ships here you will see 2 deckers with 3 or 4 guns at each deck. this is lego after all. if you use your 42 guns and make a 3decker you can call it a ship of the line just as good as all the other ships :) Have a nice day everyone.
