Thanks everyone for your kind words it means a lot to me. Now I don't build modulars in NM.....with all the detailing on the inside I like light flowing through so kids can see through the windows and see what's inside. I'll decide during the day which direction NM's buildings go.....keep watching !

i very much prefer story lines and minifigs with accessories plus detailed parts to give LIFE to a set......I see the CC as boring but the PR and DO as full of life and action. I guess some people are fans of "Life Without People".......yet again everyone is allowed their own opinion on this subject. My hope for the future of this theme is to grow this idea of detailing and story lines to breathe life into people's modular cities.

Neat townhouse.....cute frog face......could I say day care centre or something else involving the care of children since there is a cute frog face ? Brick On 'Loves Houses' !

I've been trying to find more pictures to show everyone what I mean........ Sorry, it's so tiny the picture......this one in Auburn.....on the edge of the Clare Valley wine region. I visited the store only on Saturday and popped down the small hardware department to score ideas. Other towns in SA with hardware store supermarket combos are Lyndoch in the Barossa Valley and of course Tintinara which I have picture above a few hours ago. I actual want to open up the stores and show off what's inside them better so kids can see the detailing in them and to give NM an even more humble country town feel. Edit - oh, quickly found this again.....it's from about thirty or so years ago in WA...... Yep, hardware and food can go together !

Yeah, he hopes she needs mouth to mouth ! Looks great finally built in real parts 'Criga88'.......Brick On !

Well, it would be a Creator Expert set, not a City one ?
-
Thanks for the feedback 'bitbang', now I feel if I do combo the hardware store and supermarket together I would be making the town smaller, more homier like......well I need more feedback.
-
Thanks 'Criga88', I was only thinking of the idea because my mum-in-law used to live in a town where the local supermarket was also the post office and had a mini-hardware store in it complete with paint tinting machine......sadly like my mum-in-law it is also gone. The thought came to my mind to copy that store but I couldn't match the colours or designs without spending cash.....cash I don't have. As of mid-night tonight I run out of internet credit......so then it Macca's for crappy wi-fi till I can afford internet again......sorry, for sounding down everyone.....please keep suggestions and ideas coming in....thanks. Edit - example of a hardware & supermarket combo......note - the building on the left is not a store anymore, both businesses live in the Foodworks building......I should know I've been there myself.

Well with only a few left to go of 2014 and what a horrid last half of the year it has been, with my mum-in-law passing a week from Christmas , my own mum starting cancer treatment and the family cat being put to sleep .......add that no work means no money and no money means no new Lego. To start 2015 I thought I might redesign many of the buildings in New Mannum, starting with the supermarket......oh, and hardware store and perhaps the post office.......perhaps put myself back in NM might pull me out of feel so low and down. I'm thinking of a huge country store combo.....48 stud wide......True Value Hardware/Foodland/Post Office so what does everyone think ? Keep them separate or combo them.......all three together do exist in Oz over the years plus a combo means a new build without needing money.....except no new stickers.....ran out of ink and yes, no money to buy fresh ink jet refills. Before starting I'll wait to see what some of you say first.......and hopefully I'll have a better 2015 too.

And I'm on the other fence, first half is better than the second.....not into space or deep sea really, cash and interest not there for it. Though it would be interesting to see what the designers have come up with.......but 60097 and 60098 depending on what they are...well.... Funny thing to note is the price difference between Australia and the USA is smaller.......average between five and ten dollars a set......though oddly enough the 19.99 GV's in the US are 29.99 in Oz, the swamp police station in the US is 89.99 and 99.99 in Oz......doesn't make much sense, except they'll make more money from GV;s than police stations. Easy, I'll buy them when they are on sale, unless I can't wait that long.....
