MOC - Elders Merchandise & Real Estate Office
lightningtiger replied to lightningtiger's topic in LEGO Town
Thanks everyone, okay so I'll build the fuel depot next to the Elders....it will seem more realistic since the motor dealer with tractor is down that end too....best have some distance between the Landmark and Elders....just like keeping a Sears apart from a Walmart ! I must try and get another 48x48 this week so I can place this in the town and I can plan the fuel depot correctly.....but still do I have a female or male or both...yes two people working there. I guess I could find a new figure to go with the council office and take the business-looking guy as the manager/real estate agent and a female country-girl to run the sales counter (plus drive the forklift).....I did say country girl eh ? Suggestions are always welcome ! Keep watching (always). -

MOC - Elders Merchandise & Real Estate Office
lightningtiger replied to lightningtiger's topic in LEGO Town
Thanks, my family and my wife's family histories all date back to rural South Australia in the mid 19th century......and some of her family are still living on and working the land. Now I just asked this question on ANZFOL..... I asked should my fuel depot be built on which side of town left (pub end) or right which would be next door to this building.....note Elders sell Shell lube products but I don't know of any of them have fuel pumps/bowsers ? Keep on doing that thing with your eyes.....oh, yeah watching ! -
MOC - Elders Merchandise & Real Estate Office

Thanks 'Wedge', I'll have the roof done today but I'm still missing floor tiles of the right colour....oops and I must create a custom worker for the place.....typical country male or a pretty country girl who daddy owns a rifle ? Keep on watching now you hear ! -
My Schoolbus -OR- Why I don't MOC Vehicles
lightningtiger replied to LegoCityMann's topic in LEGO Town
Okay, nice idea but scaling is the issue here....if that is the size of your vehicle then the next size up in wheels and tyres is the way to go or scale down the height of the bus....it just looks a little odd. Keep going and Brick On 'LCM' ! -
Yep, like the 7990 from 2007....the blue drum came in two halves held together by black locking tech pins.

MOC - Elders Merchandise & Real Estate Office
lightningtiger replied to lightningtiger's topic in LEGO Town
Found another example of an Elders..... Still working on the roof and finding the rest of the tiles for the floor.....might have to generate some extra merchandise for though....I'll see on Monday what I can improve. Keep watching ! -
Yes, and they international shipping now.....BUT they won't any of the new sets !
-
What are you talking about.....I have brought two different cargo ships, two different fire boats and a coast guard boat....they are designed to float and even their box art has the printing "Can Float" !
-
And not in the land of Oz neither.....again ! Oh, well January is only next month !
-
Like I wrote before different people different opinions and this seems to be going around and around in circles with off-topic banter, etc.,. Perhaps a poll should be taken if one wasn't in the past then.....city vs. town ?

MOC - Elders Merchandise & Real Estate Office
lightningtiger replied to lightningtiger's topic in LEGO Town
Well, here's a real one...... And I haven't had a drink in a few days ! Hopefully I can finish at least the structure a.s.a.p. keep watching ! -
After I broke down yesterdays little MOC I thought my Landmark store needed someone to complete with for customers so a w-i-p of an Elders store/office. I haven't finished the roof and flooring yet plus a custom minifig to work there. Keep watching for more updates.........oh, yes this should be joining the rest of New Mannum once I score some base plates again.

I like that big ESSO sign 'SalvoBrick', this gas station has that 1950's feel to it ! That tanker truck is cool so when, excellent work and Brick On 'SalvoBrick' !

Beat me to it , I was there when the last vote clicked it over.......so AWESOME......congrats to those involved in this project which hopefully will be the best Lego space/sci-fi theme ever !

Well those blue and pink tubs of bricks sell like hot cakes here in Oz. True the sets put Lego up there, but my point is being overlooked......imagination, simple.....take the bank....change it to a post office or add parts from the helicopter rescue's medical suite and hey presto a doctors rooms, And before the argument begins again about town had more variety than city....well I would say it's about the same for non-fire and police sets where town saw a snack bar, hamburger shop, bike shop, two post offices, a bank, a truck stop, five gas stations and two garages plus a public works depot. Have I missed anything apart from a couple of houses and two medical centres in twelve years ? In city we see, a pizza bar, bike repair shop, TRU shop, a gas station, a parking garage, a repair garage, a bank, medical centre, townhouse and all in 5 years So that was around 20 structures for town in 12 years and 9 structures for city in 5 years......so it's about even. .
-
Only 134 to go now......for those who haven't supported yet there is still time.
-
But the true purpose of Lego is so it can be modified or totally changed (MOCing).....the key is your imagination and if you rely on imaginations of others then what can I say.
-
Yep, I was right......different opinions from different people.......I actually like both town and city in there own rights. But it's hard to understand why you say the newer stuff is hideous, it's more detailed and more parts/accessories plus a variety of minifigs.....both male and female. I will always have a place in my heart for sets from the late 1970's.......but I'm hooked on City as my number one theme (super heroes is at number two).
-
I told you I might be planning something else.....only this morning start work on a small depot office pay point and fuel bowser for a of course a fuel depot to sit next to the train line curving around it's side. As soon as I have the basic structure and bowser done.....I shall post progress images. Keep watching ! Edit.....basics are now done..... More to come of course.

Dude, your layout is amazing......I just love that row of townhouses and adding the Batmobile plus the time machine from BTTF is pure GOLD ! Just totally AWESOME work and man, you have set the bar really high for my display next year - your MEGA-MOC is giving me a kick in the pants to do even more ! And to see you have a patient wife too..... ......hands up every male member of EB who has one of those ? Brick On 'Hoexbroe' !

Actually the 1988 one had the service station built into the car park itself, though I do agree that I asked myself where is the shop to pay for the fuel.....then I saw that the pumps were part of an automatic tankstation....very common not just in Europe.....found some in Canada as well only yesterday. The new garage reminds me of the old parking garages of the 1970's from Bluebox and you used your Matchbox/Hot Wheels cars in them.....ah, memories of simple times of childhood. Now your statement saying the new sets don't offer as much variety and play ability.....well the first, take the bank and money transport set - you have a detailed bank with ATM, with safe, with a service counter plus a patrol car and of course the money van decked out with bits inside it and the bank for the crook to try and steal. It's earlier version from the late 80's, though larger didn't offer any other than a desk with phone up stairs, a counter down stairs and a small money van - you had to make up the rest but no crooks to rob the bank.....so the newer one gives you a story to roll with so then you can add to play ability even more. Remember there is no limit to a child's imagination.....I should know I'm dad to a 12 year boy who has a wild imagination !

AWESOME combining a few larger Friend's sets together and make a very realistic modular......yep, cafe....beauty salon and a girls flat....only thing missing......champer's and strawberries ! Brick On with your Friend's 'Mr Copperhead' !
