Still seems too complicated- I mean, just stick a foot piece there, or build some alternative armouring like on Core Hunter. But we'll see. Glad everything's clear! I get they were trying to build a bow for her, which is actually a nice idea given her air theme. But with such a wobbling design and no arrows on sight, it falls short. Now I'm thinking of using those blades in a double bladed staff, or make a silver replica of Rocka's crossbow..
-
Hmm yeah, thanks. There are some cool bone uses I'd love to take a closer look at. Which claws are you talking about? The ones at the tips are Fire Villain blades, as for those silver pieces with lime horns attached to them- they do indeed exist, they were used on the Atlantis sea monsters.

Jetrax99: very cool MOC. I've been thinking of making an Exo Toa-esque build in a while, but I don't have the pieces I need. You satisfied my curiosity on how it would look though! The problem is that- they're pins. Even at the highest friction, they rotate. And, aside from the two blades at both ends, the whole weapon is connected like that. It's like as if she were weilding an ever moving snake.

To make him more evil? Ogrum, like his name suggests, seems to be inspired by folktale ogres. As I said earlier, he's strikingly similar to oni, which are pretty much the Japanese version of ogres and are very often drawn with a big spiked club and large white tusks. We don't know anything about the slugs yet ("Brain Attack" does seem to suggest a parasite nature on their part, however), but I'm not sure if I'd like Stormer to be corrupted again. Another Hero would be interesting, though. As for his set form, I don't think he'll be an XL since there seems to be only one per year and he was one this year- I think the large Summer set will be the bad guys' leader (make the Queen, Lego, the Queen! ) and Stormer will be a 13 Euro Hero like Breakout Furno. I hope so. How come we have no pictures of the sets BTW? Isn't LoC to debut in Winter? I think we lost the chance to get a 10th Hero at this point. Summer 2012 was the perfect chance to do it, but now.. Assuming that: 1)HF continues in Summer (it better be, I don't want another Exo Force ending ) 2)They don't ax any of the other 5 Heroes 3)They keep following the "1 Hero vs 1 Villain" scheme they introduced with Breakout and they're following in Winter 2013. We'd get 6 Heroes and 6 Villains= a 12 sets HF wave, which is something Lego seems no longer willing to do..

Since we got the Savage Planet episode in late September and we've yet to hear anything about this one..looks like we're not getting it this time.

Voltix, however, does have a more coherent and clever design, despite some minor flaws (black feet/back, no hands). Scarox's torso looks like a stuffy Technic-fest, which issototally against HF's spirit and aesthetics. Many people who hated Voltix (personally, I never did) like him now: IMO that's because his apparently chaotic colour scheme required, at least for some people, a closer, in hand inspection in order to be appreciated. But Scarox's flaws (stumpy arms, awkward torso) are clear and hard to excuse....even more so if you think of the brilliance this year's 9 Euro villains showed. Speaking of colour schemes, I've been thinking of the ones of the Heroes, and I think I realized one thing. Breakout Heroes, unlike the 2.0/3.0 Heroes, didn't follow the same scheme of colour distribution, each of them did their own thing (going from Heroes with few colours like Evo, to colourful ones like Bulk). The 2013 Heroes, however, do follow one plan: that is, they somewhat tried to imitate the 2011 Heroes: 2011 Heroes: solid primary (armour) colour+solid secondary (core/eyes) colour+tertiary (torso+headgear and weapons, in most cases) colour, either metallic silver (ie Furno), titanium metallic (ie Rocka), or white (Surge, with silver headgear, and Nex, with titanium metallic headgear). 2013 Heroes: solid primary (armour+Furno and Rocka's helmet) colour+transparent secondary (visor+some armour) colour+tertiary (torso+weapons+some armour pieces) colour, either metallic silver (Furno and Breez), titanium metallic (Rocka and Bulk). So, it's mainly the idea of dividing between silver and t. metallic seems that seems pretty common to both lines to me. Of course, 2011 Heroes (especially the 2.0) showed far more consistency. 2013 Heroes don't abide to their scheme at the same level: Breez's helmet is silver and she has a random t. metallic shoulder pad, Bulk has silver feet and orange hand(s?), Rocka does seem to have some silver...and Furno just can't decide between silver and t.metallic. Surge and Nex, who showed white in 2011, have yet to appear and might display a recoloured white torso if they return in summer along the other 3. Nex is more likely to do that due to his Breakout form, whereas Surge might not since his Breakout form dropped white. I do have a few more predictions about the Summer wave based on the Winter line, but I think it's a bit too early to post them...right? If anybody is curious to read them I'll post them however. Anyway, I just wanted to share some analysis about the new Heroes. I hope I didn't bore anyone. There's one cool thing I wanted to do with the text but I didn't manage to. I've yet to get fully used to the new reply style...

Indeed! Breakout had a decent array of recolours, but that pales compared to the upcoming wave. That said, we still are getting some nice parts, like the handle piece Furno, Bulk and Pyrox use, Furno's cape, the visors, Rocka's sword.. I was mostly thinking that due to how dark Breez's tr. green looks compared to Rocka's, Scarox's and Ogrum's. We might still be in for a suprise, however. I started liking Ogrum once I made the connection to Japanese Oni- he even uses a mace-like weapon, which is similar to the spiked clubs Oni often wield. I still don't the random foliage and the brown- sorry, I just don't like brown on action figures.Agreed on Bulk- that's one of the things that made the Breakout Heroes so great: for the most part, their designs matched the characters' personalities and themes very well.
-
I know the torso is the same, I was talking about the rest of the figure giving off a strong appearance- the big shoulders, the 5M shell on the right lower arm (like a "heavy hitter" character), the big boots. I should have worded that better.I noticed Furno's lower arms are dark bley...and they seem to be Stormer 2.0 lower leg bones. Another cool recolour, I guess. Man, 2013 seems filled of them. As for Pyrox, I think it's dark red. Compare his armour to that fire blade weapon he's wielding.
-
About Bulk- I didn't know that. Still, the 1.0 version actually did have a pretty bulky torso, so they probably should follow on that. Breakout Bulk certainly did.

That actually was my topic It got lost due to the server mantainance, and I asked to remake it. I forgot I had to post it in the Community forum.. So I guess it's going to be moved again..

I don't know, white might have given him a more regal look. I'm not complaining though- it's the first figure cape since 2007 (Karzahni)! And black is more useful anyway (and cooler!).Indeed, the slugs might be parasites like some of you mentioned. The reason I thought about battle suits is because the Villains heads look like they actually are hollow without the slugs inserted in...as if they were giant evil Toa Metru brains. Hmm, I wasn't thinking about a proper hive mind, more like a typical sci-fi society of insect villains ruled by a queen character, kinda like the Visorak. A hive mind would be really cool, but I'm not sure if Lego would do that- it's a pretty complex concept for kids.A few more thoughts: 1)Looking at the pictures again (the bags show the sets from slightly different angles), it seems all 3 small Heroes use the narrow shoulders torso. Which means that, yes, they finally got Breez's body build right! Rocka keeps his somewhat lanky look he had since his debut (he's probably among the most consistent ones about that, along Furno)...and Bulk returns to being skinny, unfortunately. Considering how rare the narrow torso is compared to the wide one, this is still a good thing, especially since we're dealing with the least expensive sets. 2)Bulk does need some bulk, especially on his legs. 3)Glorious 4 part paragraph dedicated to Breez. a) The brown and the earth green need to disappear. b)Her weapon kinda sucks, although I guess it's slightly better than Bulk's. c)What's with that random titanium metallic shoulder pad? I realize they didn't want to recolour it just for one set, but I'm sure they could've come up with something better. d)She totally needs the 1.0 feet back. 4)Rocka seems to have switched from tr. bright green to tr. neon green. I'm not sure if I'm going to like that, especially with all that silver. His colour scheme suddenly became a lot lighter.. 5)I just can't figure out how Bruizer's torso is built. The right part might be wider than the left, otherwise I can't explain how the tr. orange shell (connecting the rock armour piece to the top of the shoulder) and the Stringer 3.0 paw manage to coexist. There has to be some weird building technique involved. Although I prefer Pyrox, Bruizer's build seems to be most fascinating one in the evil quartet. 6)This topic needs to be renamed.

(Reposted- thanks a lot Bonaparte!) Look what I found in the Padua Auchan today! http://www.majhost.c.../Lego/ohwat.jpg As you guessed, that's Furno 2.0. Well, kinda. He's pretty similar to the original set, with some colour differences. The Hero badge has purple decorations and, instead of "Furno 2.0", "Hero" is written. Wohoo. No, I didn't buy it. I did consider doing that, but 7,99 Euro for a bunch of (most likely) low quality plastic? No thanks. If you're wondering what's written on the box, it's "With a magazine on the inside" (upper part) and "Earth Defense" (lower part) (BTW, it should be "Difesa DELLA Terra"- they skipped the preposition and the article. Huh). I find it curious all this stuff is in Italian, toy knockoffs usually have some cheesy names in English, don't they? I shudder at the idea of an Italian toy company producing Lego knockoffs...

Some musings/theories: 1)Those pieces are marvelous, Aaanchir. Those tr. blue shells... Hopefully we'll see them on Surge and/or Stringer. 2)I do think those tower-like blades on Furno's shield are intentional- but they're meant to be symbolic, just like the big H. 3)The Heroes use Glatorian heads- look at Rocka's helmet, which really is a slightly modified version of his Breakout one. You can see a tr. (bright? neon?) green head under it, which is very similar to a Glatorian head. I think the helmets work much like the 1.0 ones, but have two short bars on top for the visors to attach over, much like the 2.0 headgear. 4)The Heroes are growing on me, actually. I think some colour schemes need some cleaning, however. I'm thinking of trying something with LDD. 4,5)I realized the Titanium Metallic on Furno needs to disappear- it just makes him look too dark, and it doesn't work. Nothing can be done with the weapons, otherwise I just need to replace those Bulk 3.0 claw mounts with their silver counterparts, and replace the BP mace halves on the shoulders with...something else- I just don't think they work. I'm not sure if I'll keep the cape on him- black capes work on villains and anti-heroes, and Furno is..neither of those. Sorry Will. 5)A crazy or maybe not theory: the real villains are the..slug/insect...things, and the figures we see are just battle suits. 6)The fact we're having insect-themed villains might give some hope to the idea of a female Big Bad, like a sort of Hive Queen. Please, Lego?
-
Oh, you're indeed right- Scarox is the sole 9 Euro villain of the quartet. That's much better. Did anyone notice that Furno XL isn't in a box, but in a bag?

Somebody mentioned that Ogrum looks like a Japanese monster. I believe he was referring to Oni. I have to say, this made me like him much more, though Pyrox is my favourite (he's a dark red dragon humanoid, for Stormer's sake!). He and Ogrum do look like they came out of some folktale, which is actually really cool. Scarox definitely has the scariest face (it looks like it belongs to a mutated Mantax..and Mantax was pretty darn scary on his own)..I just wish he were better designed- I'm sure I'll revamp him. Bruizer looks cool, but I'm still not sold on the face (those teeth look kind of silly) and the rocky look (they pulled it off well, I'm just not used to elemental aesthetics in HF). On the Heroes: Somebody mentioned the 2013 sets look more colourful than the Breakout line, but I think the new Heroes are less colourful than the Breakout team. A sense of unity is nice, but the 2012 Heroes already did a good job on that- they all have the same torso (except Stormer), the same core style and colour and common weapon equipment (the plasma gun, which I'm going to miss a lot, and the cuffs, which I'm not going to miss much). These sets have some spots of one or two colours that makes them stand out, but then it's silver, gunmetal, silver, gunmetal... it's like the 2008 Nuva all over again, except these are much better in most aspects anyway. I'm going to miss crazy combinations like Breakout Bulk's gunmetal+silver+orange+gold+tr. green. I LOVE all dat transparent cladding however. Also, I'm not really sure if we needed a whole new torso plate. The Breakout one was fine I think, especially since I wanted more colours of it (*coughsilvercough*). The abdomen area feels weirdly organic, (especially if compared to the smooth aesthetics the Heroes keep using), not to mention those clawed mecha arms pointing at the cores look kind of...evil. But I do like the handlebars (I'm with Aanchir on this- they're part of the piece) feature due to its potential, so rather than getting rid of the new plate I would've preferred if it were reduced to a chest armour, like the 2.0/3.0 Hero torsos. Lastly, the helmets seem to be rehashes of the 1.0 versions. Breez's and Rocka's especially look good due to their similarity to the originals. Bulk's and Furno's kind of look awkward, but I'll wait for new pictures. The new visors are very cool, although I've yet to figure out the colour of Furno's. On the prices- all Heroes except Furno are 8,99 Euro sets (9,99 Euro in some countries like Germany), like, say, Stringer. This is obvious from the short forelegs and lower arms. One thing does set them from Breakout small Heroes- that is, their lower leg bones are the longer ones used in Stormer 2.0 and Rocka 3.0, so they're obviously a bit taller. The Villains were marked as 12,99 Euro in that site where we got the set list from, though I'm not sure if they're worth the price. Bruizer seems to be the most complex one, but the others? Scarox barely looks more complex than XT4.

I always wanted a Shredder minifig, his helmet, his shoulder armour and his cape are going to be mighty useful for some cool stuff Otherwise, I can't say I'm interested about the theme.

So, I took control of my account again, though Trollestia is forcing me to keep this avatar. Oh well. I finished the analysis, or shall we say "Look, a recoloured piece!" (blue text) and "Look, a new piece!" (purple). I realized writing walls of texts nitpicking stuff tired me, so I went for a more visual approach. Maybe you guys didn't notice something that I did notice. :3 Everything is circled, from the more obvious things (A CAPE!) to the less obvious ones. 1)Breez+Bruizer 2)Bulk+Ogrum 3)Rocka+Scarox 4)Pyrox+Furno XL In general, these have a lot of great parts, but I do admit that I like the Breakout sets better for now. I guess it goes like this: 1)Furno 2)Bulk 3)Rocka/Breez 1)Bruizer 2)Pyrox 3)Scarox/Ogrum.
-
Trollestia just realized that the sets have to use the Glatorian head, at least Pyrox does- how else would his giant horns (that she just noticed) attach? Also, she wonders what's up with the Hero helmets: are they silver 1.0 helmets with a part chopped off? Edited. I forgot a part of the sentence. Yeah, Trollestia hacked my account. I'll return shortly with a in depth pictorial analysis.
-
You're welcome, just be sure to post when Trollestia isn't around.Well, these look very...different. As others said, a more organic approach, especially/mostly one the villains, which I actually happen to like less. See, I prefer a futuristic approach to constraction sets, that's why I liked 2.0 more than 3.0. I actually prefer the Heroes both from an aesthetic point and a parts one. Lots of silver (why do people complain about it is beyond me, we're in dire need of silver in HF) and transparent pieces, wohoo! The gem is Furno- so badass! Is it just me or is Ogrum using earth green? And Pyrox dark red? If so YES! I never was a huge fan of brown but hey- call me surprised, especially since I do remember having said "brown isn't coming back, simple as that". I wish they looked a bit taller- I find hard to believe Pyrox is supposed to be a 13 Euro figure. Anyway, I love all the new parts- great weapons, interesting Hero helmets, lots of wonderful recolours. It'll take a bit to get used to the way these sets look, but I'm sure I'll be excited for them all in a month or so. I'll probably analyze these in major detail later or tomorrow.

That's it, I'm quitting Eurobricks. >:( Heh, kidding. I guess our hope are the finalized pictures now. When did those appear last year? November? I must quote you because you said something awesome and your avatar shows excellent taste.

It's a HF book that came out a few weeks ago, whose story is set (I assume) after the Breakout episode- nothing more, nothing less. Aanchir posted some very nice summaries about it in the HF 2012 discussion topic. I hope we get pics soon..this topic is kinda becoming "empty" discussion.
-
This happened with the supposedly new 2013 sets info, which turned out to be the same old Wikipedia rumors we know to death by now (Rampant Oceans with its set list and Empire of Frost), and in many other cases. Not to be rude, but guys- before posting info you consider new, check if someone already posted it before.
-
That looks gorgeous! Are they replacing the classic broadsword? I'm not sure how to feel about that, then again I already have a decent amount of them in pearl silver.
-
^ Aww, come on. ^ Thanks for the explanation, Aanchir. Interesting that Surge's insecurity about being an Hero (a 2010 subplot, right?) was brought up again. I wonder if deep down CH's core stealing could symbolize his desire to forget his past- he literally robs "fellow" Heroes of what represents them the most.
