  1. That'd be neat! I always loved the concept behind Creator/Designer sets. Haven't thought of that. Why would they call them "VS" though? Of course I don't except two completely different themes like Creator and HF to use the same naming policy, but.. I actually would prefer this to the risk of half-baked small sets.
  2. Wait, you got it wrong- you ignored the other figures in the VS sets. It's not that Flyer Beast is a 15 Euro set, with 15 Euro you get FB and Breez. Mathematically speaking, each of them is a 7,5 Euro set- that is, even smaller than small size 9-10 Euro sets. Then there's Stormer vs Jaw Beast, a 10 Euro set with two 5 Euro characters, and the triple 20 Euro set with 3 figures. Of course we don't know anything yet so these are just educated guesses based on what little info we got so far. So it should be: -3 VS sets, which amounts to 2+2+3=7 small figures -1 small size figure (Evo) -3 mid size figures (Furno, Stormer and Rocka) -1 large figure (Evo XL) 8 sets, but actually 7+1+3+1= 11 figures. Not bad Lego. This might be one of the coolest HF waves so far. Unless the VS sets use Mixels. EDIT: Updated list with prices, so everyone can see it without clicking the page! Please edit the opening post, VBBN: 44015 EVO Walker EUR 9,99 44016 Jaw Beast vs Stormer EUR 9,99 44017 STORMER Freezer Machine EUR 14,99 44018 FURNO Jet Machine EUR 14,99 44019 ROCKA Stealth Machine EUR 14,99 44020 FLYER Beast vs BREEZ EUR 14,99 44021 SPLIITTER Beast vs FURNO & EVO EUR 19,99 44022 EVO XL Machine EUR 24,99 An expensive lineup, but a really interesting one.
  3. Very interesting indeed. Obviously this confirms that the versus sets will include smaller than average ffigures. At this point, I just hope they are "chibi" figures using the 2.0 building system, Mixels would just kill it for me. I can't help but notice the sets are slightly more expensive than usual. Small sets in Germany always sold at 10 Euro (unlike most European countries'9 Euro), but even then, the 13 Euro mid size sets are now 15, like the Chima Ultrabuilds, while Evo is 25 like Dragon Bolt and Rocka XL. If that means Furno and Stormer are going to get more beefy designs like the Ultrabuilds, so be it. Unless they are small figures riding vehicles-hope not.
  4. From the Ninjago 2014 topic: http://i.imgur.com/bTn31sc.jpg Look at the dragon-like mecha climbing the skyscraper. Dark blue HF fists? EDIT: Nevermind: the fingers seem to be EF mecha arms, the hand is probably a new piece.
  5. Vexorian is obviously exaggerating, but he's bringing a very good point. Unfortunately constraction themes are always going to be looked down by most AFOLs.
  6. Heh, same here. I'm very excited about the list..heck, I'd say this is (for me) the most exciting wait for pictures ever since HF started. The wait is almost over, hopefully. Last year, we got pics on October 11th.
  7. Definitely the 2012 topic, around December. You should find it in the fifth page or something. And yeah, Stormer XL was there, but he was called "Stormer lgd" ("Legend"?). I remember "Dynamo", "Scorch" and my favourite, Flash Freeze. And are you saying the 2014 list might be similar to that one- not accurate, but with some good guesses?
  8. Wasn't the "Core Drainer" the only fake one we ever got? Unless you count Rampant Oceans and Empire of Frost (lel). Slightly off topic, but I always thought Core Drainer was such a weird coincidence. How in the world did the creator of the list guess that?
  9. Well, Ninjago, thanks to the lovely Kmart, got its first images of the 2014 sets.
  10. The anti-Chima comments are making my brain hurt.About the sets (I'm editing the post because I didn't see the links above), I'm not interested in them but one piece caught my eye: that transparent weapon (add-on) with a saw blade design. Very cool.
  11. It's "OMG Splitface is Thunder!" all over again. : D
  12. Front's words hinted that the new head had been designed to be the "ultimate" head, or at least one that is going to be used for quite a long time. The clip bar alone looks like it has a huge potential, for 2.0 style head gear..or mouths (yes- if you flip the head with the bar on the "chin" area, BA villains style). If they want to keep using the new heads (which I think is very likely), reusing the 2013 helmets seems like the easiest solution. I actually liked some helmets more than the classic ones..the only two I thought were truly worse were Bulk's (completely different, too "organic" and too small) and Rocka's (too bland). But of course I'm not against new helmets, it's just that I'd like to see them coupled with something innovative and different than what we've been getting for the last 10+ years (the 2.0 Heroes are an exception, I'd guess). The visors and the new heads teased me about never seen before possibilities, to the point the same old head+helmet/mask won't suffice anymore. Oh, and I wonder about the new torso armour. I'd love to see the Breakout plate return (especially since 2013 completely ignored it), but I doubt it will. I wish Front dropped in and shared some of his hints. Something like "The 2014 sets look very interesting" would suffice actually.
  13. I myself hope/except for BA helmets getting reused, as I wrote before. With Breez getting a lime recolour and a smaller redesign for Furno, since his XL helmet is freaking huge.
  14. Not gonna happen. Why do you think vehicle-only sets have never been made? Kids want something you can open, build, and play with immediately. It's the same reason System sets feature minifigs from both sides of the ongoing conflict the theme is about. The average buyer wants instant-action.System lines can afford to occasionally make accessory/expansion packs, like the Ninjago Booster packs, but those are low priced compared to the cheapest HF sets..they're like impulse sets of sorts. Plus, they do feature some instant play elements, eg the minifig and the weapons. Some of the Racer sets were vehicles without pilots, but HF markets people who are interested in characters, not those type of things.
  15. A Exo Force robot arm+a horn piece of any size would be ideal as a tail I think.
  16. Forgot to reply to this, but yes, something like Bioformers, but with new special pieces of course (eg a cockpit for Furno).Of course it's just speculation, what I'm sure about is that they won't be 30 Euro vehicle+rider sets, nor 9/13 Euro standalone vehicle sets. Both would be market suicides on Lego's part. Unless they're vehicles with minifigures. But THAT is even crazier than Aanchir's Mixel idea.
  17. On the helmets+2.0 style gear: I've been thinking about this for a while actually, glad I wasn't the only one with that idea in mind. I don't think it's unlikely, the helmets are there, the heads too, it's just that new gear pieces would have to be designed instead of the usual helmet pieces. And I agree on the XL. There needs to be a large good guy set each year to balance the large bad guy. XL are the perfect excuse to do that, and nothing more. I agree Evo XL has the potential to be awesome. He's a guy I could see with a Stormer XL-esque build, too- while his last two forms used narrow bodies and his BA form was fairly slim, Evo was a pretty bulky guy in 2011, his job was heavy artillery IIRC. Plus, his helmets have always been strong looking, unlike the "softer" helmets of Surge or Nex. I can see him with a strong body and special weapons: he's supposed to be the weapons master afterall, though it seems the designers kinda forgot that. But I guess the variety of his weapons has always been hindered by Evo always being pegged at the 9 Euro price point. With a higher , he should be able to show his full potential. And..I didn't think about Mixels. I'm not a huge fan of those myself. Using those joints would kill the modularity and interconnectivity, which are the basis of any Lego theme/line. So no thanks. I'm curious how the VS issue will be solved though.
  18. A new Breez and Furno are certainly welcome, as overused the latter one may be. The ones I own (I like...mixing various versions of a Hero to create the ideal one for me) badly need some updating. I wanted to use the helmet+visor for each Hero, but Furno XL's is too big (try putting it on a mid-size figure. It looks ridiculous!), Breez's silver helmet doesn't fit with her Breakout colours, Bulk's is too small for his Breakout form, and Rocka's looks very plain compared to his Breakout helmet. At the end, only Stormer, Surge and Evo got Brain Attack helmet: those 3 looked great in size, colour, and closeness to the character. I thought that 2014 Heroes should reuse the Brain Attack Helmets, but thinking of it I wouldn't like that, since I used only 3/7. But, my personal feelings aside, reusing those pieces seems like the best choice to me, otherwise the new head would be half wasted, I think. They can't return to 2.0 or 1.0/Breakout, so they might as well reuse the 2013 helmets, which clearly show a lot of thought and care put on them. So, in realistic terms, reuse the Brain Attack helmets+lime green recolour of Breez's+smaller redesign of Furno's. Well, a rant on helmets. Didn't see that coming. Yet I do it every year.
  19. I got the Evil Mech, the Yeti and the Barbarian so far. They're great! I love the green they chose for the bags. A massive improvement over Series 10 IMO, which I didn't like very much. Oh, and try giving the Alien Queen's cape to the Evil Mech. You won't be disappointed with the result.
  20. "That sort of thing?" It's Lego, not BDSM. :P Anyway, about time, if it's real. Quite possibly one of the weirdest lists ever. The repeated Heroes are weird, no Stringer or Nex makes me sad but..it's interesting, certainly more original than this year (yes, I went there). What if the "vehicle-Hero" sets are... transformers? I don't know how they could pull it off though.
  21. That scorpion looks awesome.
  22. Assuming these are Ultrabuild sets, that means well for constraction lines. For the first time ever, Lego released two constraction lines from their own IPs at once, and both sold well. Onto the list: Legendary Beasts? This really isn't what I excepted, but hey, why not? We probably might not get new weapon molds from LoC, but animal parts are always welcome. And I bet they are going to bring some interesting designs, like the Savage Planet beasts from HF did in 2011. Who knows, we might get some humanoids in Summer 2014. I still want Special Edition Lagravis and Crominus.
  23. I got my S@H yesterday. Frost Beast is pretty cool but he feels too..cartoony to me...I don't know. Surge and Stormer are awesome, though I feel their weapons are lacking. I don't like Surge's lightning weapon or Stormer's sword very much, and Stormer's shield looks incomplete to me. So I revamped the weapons: I kept Laval's sword for Stormer (like I planned), I revamped his shield, while Surge got a smaller version of Furno's sword (think the one from the Black Brain pack, but with different colours).
  24. Well, looks like I'll get Dragon Bolt sooner or later after all. DV's flickr photo of him standing on two legs is fantastic.
  25. I don't know, maybe it's the fact I'm not terribly interested in the set, so I'm more critical towards the price. I know the new commercial makes me want him more, however. As for the roar, I liked it. High pitched roars sound more creepy and alien, IMO.
