Excellent, thanks. They're going to be useful to bulk up my Beasts.Overall, not the best Machine, but a very good parts pack. And, for now, the only way to get mini-Rocka.

Certainly, it's curious it shares the Queen's eye design, but I'd say lightning plays no part here- that's clearly azure, without a doubt. I'm going to assume that it's just a non-set CGI model for now, due to the completely different style used compared to the sets. If it does turn out to be a set, I'm going to agree with VBBN that a third azure head sounds pretty boring. I loved the idea of making another Beast from SB's smaller half, but it's less unique now. I don't know what colour they could use instead though..all bright colours have already been used, except blue..which is too close to azure anyway.

It's very likely the person at the laptop is VN, but even then we stil don't know anything on what exactly he wants to do with the blueprints. Many things have been implied, but the problem is that the Heroes are acting as if that stuff never happened. And of course, we know nothing about the maker of the Brains and if he's related to Nebula at all. At least I hope the new theme uses the CCBS (the official name of the 2.0 building system, for those who don't know). Anything else would be a step backwards. I'd welcome any new theme as long it uses that system. Heck, Bionicle 2 would be fine too.

If 2014 is HF's last year I'm disappointed, since the mystery surrounding the mastermind(s?) behind the Breakout and the Brain Attack has yet to be solved. I'd be fine with a single wave final arc if it addressed those points. And the fact we spent half of HF's running essentially watching the Heroes battle generic mindless monsters would be even more disappointing. I knew HF wasn't going to last more than BIONICLE, plus four and half years is an amazing feat for any theme. But still, I would have liked if it used its time in a more sensible way *coughskippingBrainAttackcough*. The series had a LOT of potential back in 2012, but it quickly burned it off. I still enjoy it, and 2014 is MUCH better than 2013, but it is past its prime.

It's not the Queen, her upper jaw is black while the one on Beast I'm referring to is azure.

Ah, looks like you guys are right! At 0:17, there are two walkers, one walking behind the other. Not sure about the front one- it is yellow, and has Evo Walker style legs, but they are six. The second walker is the one I thought was gold due to the lightning, but it is lime instead. So no gold Cap America knee caps...but lime ones! I actually like this, we got quite a lot of gold stuff this year, but next to no lime pieces.
-
So is it confirmed that the walker is Breez? How did you guys figure it out? I would've liked a mech more (especially a flying one given her theme) but oh well. And, pause at 0:45. What is that? It's a close-up of an azure Beast head, with an oddly organic style, and an eye design different from any other set. It looks different from any Beast shown- maybe it's another set? I'm really feeling the absence of a truly huge, titanic Beast. I hope this is the one.

I really like the crystal cave setting. I excepted some boring dark cave, but they really pulled off something nice actually.

Oh man, I lost my post AGAIN... Anyway, looks like we're going to have (thanks to VBBN for the shots!) : 1)A dual-pilot gold (?) walker. Gold Cap America kneecaps and Bulk 3.0 claw mounts! 2)A flying ship and a blue humanoid mech. Wait, why am I listing these as one set? Check this: you can see elements from both models, from the ship (wings and flick missiles) and from the mech (Cap America kneecaps). I think it's a HF version of EF's Aero Booster. 3)A small humanoid mech. From the trailer, Rocka's piloting it. I swear, if we get 3 Rocka sets this year.. 4)A red Beast. Looks pretty small, but due to the six legs (=more pieces), I'll assume it's a mid size (15 Euro) set. I would've skipped red on the Beasts in order to favor more unusal colours, but Lego seems to disagree. 5)An azure Beast. Looks like it introduces the second shortest bones in azure. I would've preferred LONGER azure bones, not shorter ones, but the designers seem hell bent in making the Beasts ridicolously short.. Looks like it features more tr. light blue, on its claws and upper legs. One more Beast with tr. light blue like Jaw Beast.. this makes things seem less random, I'll wait to see how it looks IRL though. Finally, I'd like to note this guy might use GITD pieces- look at the chest printing and the horn (long time no see, Quaza spike), you can it glows in the second pic (while it doesn't in the first pic). 6)The "Queen". Surely she seems like a sort of leader given the staff. Looks like she uses lime as primary colour. Looks like a nice figure, but if she is the biggest villain set, then colour me disappointed. The wings, which I recognize from the Chima Spider sets, look pretty puny. The figure doesn't look bad, but she doesn't look powerful enough IMO. I really like the printed chest though. So, 6 sets. This might already be a full list (hope not though). I hope there's a bigger set because so far, I'm kinda disappointed.

Indeed, a Drop Ship that could carry FJM would have to be gigantic- bigger than Witch Doctor perhaps.I still think a minifig scale battle ship can be done, and i think we'll see one in Summer. It would be great to see a vehicle with as little Technic as possible, though I doubt they'd do it. And VBBN, that mech looks good! I'd remove the white though- the Machines don't seem to use secondary colours, though Rocka's mech has a slightly different colour scheme. Just lime, silver and red should be enough.
-
No surprises here, the set is just like it appeared in the renderings. Good design, good colours, but I still strongly dislike the left arm and the wings: I'm definitely going to revamp those two parts. I really like the head, the scarred eye is a great touch..though my favourite design still belongs to the orange Splitter Beast head. I love how all Beasts have multiple set of eyes- very alien. As for Breez..not perfect, but it's a good enough representation of her, I'm cool with it. Now, she just needs her own Machine.. Thanks for the review. No idea on what happened to Flyer Beast's eye, but SB's situation might be an exception- an example of symbiotic relationship.
-
I'm thinking whether I should turn Splitter Beast into a Titan or not.. its proportions look good this way, but I feel the absence of a truly large threat. I hope there's a large Beast in Summer. I'd hardly call Dragon Bolt a Titan since she was pretty small- I'd like to something as tall as Black Phantom. Maybe I should simply wait for Summer sets pics to surface (hopefully it's around Christmas, as usual), to decide what should I do. One thing I like about the Beasts is their unifying aestetichs- this way, I could, say, take the small SB half and turn it into an indipendent Beast. Or remake the three-headed combo model using three heads with the same colours.
-
Oh, there's titanium metallic here too! Unlike FJM, where I was hoping for silver, I'm happy for SFM: there are both recoloured parts from EXLM! I might very well get this- all pieces are quite useful. Thanks for the review.
-
Yeah, I saw your posts in the HF 2014 topic and the other review threads showing the helmets on minifigs. Thanks. And is that the Dropship from 2010 dropping the J Machine? If so, that's a cute homage!
-
Wait.. so that's why the main Beast looks bulky despite its arms directly attacking to the torso shoulders (which would make scuh a tall figure look very lanky, like Black Phantom). Because it doesn't use the large torso, but a normal-sized, wide-shoulders one. If others already knew this, then forgive me for being so slow. That means that the main Beast, sans its head, is as tall as Stormer 2.0 or a 2013 small Hero. I'm dumbfounded at how...short these new sets are. Mid size figures as tall as small figures, with only slightly taller large sets...and then there's Jaw Beast.. I get that they're still huge compared to the minifigs, but one doesn't pay just for the pieces, but for a figure of a worthy size. I guess I should have seen that coming, the 2013 sets were pretty short, but the Heroes, especially Furno, were of a decent size, still worthy of their price. I'm disappointed the head is orange, though- as I said on the 2014 HF topic, tr. reddish orange is far closer to bright red than to bright orange. Tr. bright orange, the colour used for the chains (and a colour I'd like to see in HF, especially for cladding), is better matched with orange or "Keetongu/Jetbug yellow". BA Bulk had the same problem. They should've made the head tr. reddish orange, or the rest of the tr. reddish orange pieces bright orange...which is probably what I'm going to do (I'll have to replace with claws, though). Despite this long rant, I can't deny that this set still looks really, really cool. In fact I do really love it, it's really the best looking Beast IMO. Just because I plan to heavily mod a set doesn't mean I don't like it, quite the opposite- it means I see a lot of potential in it, otherwise I'd just buy as a parts pack. Thanks for the review(s)! Totally agreed. Can't wait to see what Lego is planning for those 4.

When the set list came out, this was the least interesting set to me. See, I'm not a fan of multi-legged mechs. When pics came out, this set was my least favourite. And this review changed..nothing. Nope, no interested in this set whatsoever. It's not even good as a parts back to me: I might get Evo XL M. if I find it at a good price but that's it. You get all the interesting pieces from Walker in larger quantities, except the small double C piece.. but you can find that elsewhere. I'm surprised at how tall the minifigs are, but I'm cool with it. They can be still used in a minifig-scaled universe. I used to hate the solid heads but they DO make sense, making the eyes stand out very well. I just dislike Evo having red eyes- his eyes should always be a shade of blue IMO (the closest thing to lilac we have in terms of available head colours), but it seems Lego disagrees with me at every round. Finally, I don't mind the orange/lime cockpits, as they're generally well integrated into the colour schemes. This is the exception however- it should've been lime, like on Evo XL Machine. Once again, thanks for the review.

Unless Stormer's mech looks absolutely amazing from your photos I'm going to agree this is the best Machine so far. I still think the arms are the weak point. But with such an high piece number, I can forgive them. Looks like Aanchir's LDD representation of the torso was spot on. I remade it IRL and used it on a MOC, and it is great. It really shows what you can do with the 2.0 building system, I can only hope the designers will keep coming up with stuff like this (on a bulkier Beast in summer maybe?). 2011 and 2012 were rife with things like this, but 2013 brought a sudden and tragic halt to that. On the pieces, I hoped for more silver boot/shoulder armour pieces (introduced in BA Bulk), as they're very rare and potentially quite useful.. I'm disappointed to see t. metallic again. I get silver was overused in Bionicle, but t. metallic is rapidly becoming the new silver! Silver itself is so rare these days. Very good figure, but not my top choice as a parts pack. I love the printed shell however- those flames! Their design is nearly identical to Breakout Furno's torso- I love when things are cohesive like this. You mentioned Furno's helmet eye holes line with minifig eyes- I guess his helmet is the only one that does this? Thanks for the review!
-
I like the set overall. Not sure if I'll get it, but that's because I'm still unsure about getting the Machines in general, for a number of reasons. I don't mind the printed shell TBH. If anything, the gold 3M shell on its lower arm looks more random to me. I can't tell, but are the 5M shells black? If so, major win for the designers. Those shells in black are insanely rare! Thanks for the review!
-
Ah. So the printed piece is 4M, I thought it was a 3M one for some reason- much better this way, as its torso is better covered (I'm calling the Beasts "it" unless they're revealed tob be sapient). And I can finally see how the Beast heads are built. So each of the two variants has a + hole- simple and works perfectly. Overall, the figure looks good. I'll probably mod it a bit, but as a "scout" size Villain, JB does its job very well. Much, much better than Scarox and Aquagon, though still not quite as good as gems like Thornraxx. Thanks for the reviews! I'll leave a post in the other threads too.
-
I tried Furno Jet Machine's torso design (thanks Aaanchir for the image) to revamp a MOC of mine, and I LOVE it. Very sturdy and makes the character look quite bulky and powerful. I hope we get more stuff like this in Summer.
-
While the three headed Beast looks awesome, I can't help but notice that it's heads are those of SP+FB. So it might be just a combination model, though it's weird Jawie gets left out.
-
Itbegings.png The set looks better than I thought, but I'm still not interested. Only maybe as a parts pack if I find it at a bargain price. I'm eagerly awaiting for the Beasts.
-
Ah, yes. It definitely makes more sense like that, I guess they did it that way to show the function better (the main Beast would've covered the piece).
-
You're welcome! The medium bley connector block you're talking about, however, can't be removed. It's how the two monsters connect together, just like the Matoran and the canister set did back in 2008 Bionicle (though that was a different, L shaped piece). Of course you can remove it if you're planning to keep the two separate (like I probably will). And speaking of SP, did anyone figure out whether the main Beast's head is Bright Orange or Tr. Reddish Orange? I honestly can't tell. In the front bag art it looked Bright Orange, but now I'm not so sure anymore. I hope it's Tr. Reddish Orange like its claws and shells. I don't like when the two colours are mixed (like on BA Bulk)- TrRO is closer to Bright Red IMHO. And since I didn't reply to Aanchir yesterday (doing it on my tablet would've been a real pain): That is true. Plus I forgot that Rocka is exclusive to the Stealth Machine, so the possibility of more exclusive minifigs is obviously there. It's true that making your own mech is much easier than making your own BA Hero, but you'd be still missing two unique parts: the cockpit with the Hero name, and the printed shell with unique colours. I guess you can reuse some of them, but I hope we get more of those shells in Summer. That's a fair point on Stringer's mech (if he gets one... sigh), I'm thinking it could have tr. blue as its main colour, to homage its pilot. The Machines are avoiding transparent shells so far but that might be the exception...unless..this could be the right time we get dark blue shells? And yeah, they can very well make it not seem steretypically girly. The punk guy from CMF had his spiky mohawk in magenta too. It would look fantastic with black and azur.
-
I thought about dual pilot Machines too (and I think we'll get an official set like this in Summer), though I didn't got beyond that. Your idea makes sense and sounds cool. Odd..I'll try to attach it so you can see it. The file size goes beyond the 56k.EDIT: http://www.majhost.c...Lego/spback.jpg
