I think Kopaka would look a lot better with some tr light blue shells, which he probably uses (the Ice Defender features the colour). As of now, he's pretty much Takanuva with an Akaku and some new weapons.

HF sells quite nicely here actually, and I'm sure BIONICLE is going to be a huge success. Chima doesn't seem to get as much love though... I bought Tunneler and Crystal for Beast building. I'm skipping the Queen because I'm not interested in Evo's Machine and I already have the minifigs included. And 40 Euro is too much for that, yes. : / I'm getting the pieces I need and I'll build my own Queen.

Keep in mind CCBS makes for much shorter figures, so the taller Toa are going to be around Toa Inika height. Not that bad, though I'll most likely mod the Toa to be around the same height (between Stormer 2.0 and Breakout larger Heroes). With characters like Onua being stocky and shorter and ones like Kopaka taller and leaner. I always wanted to have the Toa with different body bulds and you don't know how happy I am I can finally pull it off with the CCBS.

While it's a tad weird, I don't mind having Toa in different size. I'll assume it's a set thing anyway- it's not that the Stars suddenly got shorter in-story. It's like the Heroes in 2012-2013- some were small sets, some were mid-size and then there was a special titan size one. The difference being that this time the small size has been cut and there are more than one large team member. I'll assume Onua is a large set as well, since he has gold armour like Kopaka and Onua and a Hulk chest That's not a dead ringer for a figure to be a large set, but Hulk and Gorzan sacrificed their leg bulk (and parts budget) to use a bigger torso with covered by a big expensive piece. Onua's legs, instead, seem decently complex.

As it happens every year on August 1st, sets are available on S@H. Ordered two copies each of Crystal and Tunneler Beast.

Anyone disappointed Kopaka doesn't seem to have a shield? Giving him one shouldn't be hard, but still.

Technically my first set was a mask pack.. But if I think of Tahu and Gali as my first sets I'm lucky to say I remember the place and it still definitely exists - heck, I still go there sometimes. There's just something so fun about getting sets in stores you can't find in web shopping. : P As for the Toa prices, while the price hike is definitely something that happened and will continue to, remember these guys have a lot more pieces and are a lot more complex than the 2001 Mata. And, I realized each Toa couple I posted (let's put Pohatu and Kopaka together for obvious reasons) is made from one Toa that is going to be a larger set and a medium sized one. So I'll be able to buy the new Toa in 3 couples in the same order I followed in 2001, while spending the same money each time. Nice.

Well, I remember getting some groups of six in couples. That is what I mostly did with the Toa: 1)Tahu and Gali 2)Lewa and Onua 3)Kopaka (got him as a surprise present so I didn't have control on that : P) 4)Pohatu I'll probably follow this order because hey, it's been 14 freaking years and I want to go into nostalgia overdrive. And because it's BONKLES.

Exactly, Aanchir. As you said, contrived explanations just tend to make things worse. At 14 (when the Inika came out), I was old enough to tell that explanation was on obvious cover-up. I was slightly out of the target demographic, though.. So I guess I'm on the opposite of Dorek's. Sometimes, I prefer having things dismissed. Lego is about creativity, isn't it? I think it's fine to let fans come up with their own explanations once in a while. Some needlessly contrived explanations tend to hinder creativity, I think.

Let's be honest though: aside from the chains, horns and green armour, no effort was made to make Karzahni look like his illustrated, pre-mutation (green AND BLUE!) counterpart. I bet they were tasked to make some generic green monster and when the story team saw he looked little like his canon form, they had to shrug it off with "pit mutagen, son". If he actually remotely looked like his illustrated form, they could've explained that with him being immune (or nearly so) to mutagen (not that odd of a concept, since he is, ahem, was BIONICLE's Hades).Let's not forget stuff like "Takanuva is dark and big because he was attacked by a Shadow Leech and Karda Nui makes Toa and Matoran of Light grow!". Or quite possibly my favourite one: "The Toa Inika have blank faces because they're so charged with energy you can't see their features!". The story team had to excuse a lot of weird crap set designers came up with. To be fair though, they were probably "forced" to do most of those things, due to budget constraints or the classical "That's what focus groups want!". This is another reason I want a reboot. Less canon to adhere to, less awkward excuses to come up with, less expectations clouding our judgement and ruining our fun. A phrase many have written here- a fresh start.

Now that I took another look at the new Miru, I think the smile hasn't quite disappeared. If you look closely at the gold version, it has 4 slanted slits: the top two are filled with lime green on the green version (and they are obviously Lewa's eyes), while the bottow two are dark on both masks. Those slits might represent what actually made up the original Miru's smile: They're much smaller and subtler than the big holes in the 2001 Miru but hey, it's something.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
Shakar replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I thought the Genie Girle would've been blue skinned like the Genie...oh well. The Wizard and the Spooky Girl are my favourites. She's so cute.- 1,109 replies

Apparently the mystery box to be unveiled is about Minecraft sadly. And wow, now I DO see Mata Nui. That has to be intentional, though I still can't see what could that mean.

That mask looks pretty much on its final stage, though. And yes, it's made in CGI but it's obviously a model that might very well exist in set form. It might be an Ignika-like case- it was hinted at during 2006, shown in 2007 but only in 2008 did we get it in set form (and only in 2009 in gold). So, whatever this mysterious mask is, we might indeed get it in set form in summer.I gotta say though, it doesn't look as cool as the Avokhii or the Vahi- it's probably due to the mouth. But I'll get used to it I guess.

You know, since the golden mask Tahu is trying to grab has an open mouth hole...I'm going to assume the new masks are keeping the helmet-style connection.

I find it hard that "Air" can turn into "Jungle" in Russian, though. Some elements were translated in a not exactly accurate way but were close enough (like Onua's being Land), the other ones were perfectly translated. Don't get me wrong though, I want Lewa to stay as the Toa (or Master, lol) of Air just as much as you guys do. And, Lewa prominently features silver. I doubt they'd put gold and silver in the same figure... Actually, I think, that piece is the Toa' shoulder armour piece. I like it, it's kinda similar to the Nuva shoulder pads.

I think it's a lightning trick on both, yes. Defenders feature no gold at all, so I think that tan/gold is actually the green sets' secondary colour, just like purple for the Earth guys. Remember it's apparently Jungle/Plant now, not Air, so that colour scheme could be there to make them look like plant beings (just like Tahu looks like a fire entity).

Putting things together, only the bottow row Toa have gold actually. Lewa doesn't (that tan/gold shade is featured on the -sigh- Jungle Defender too), Pohatu doesn't, Gali doesn't (that's yellow, just like on the Water Defender's turbines). And heck yeah, black Hulk chestplate! I remember cannibalizing the Nui Jaga to equip Onua Mata with some purple bits..heh. Who would've seen that coming!

Seems like we thought the same thing That doesn't bode well for HF, since they're kinda taking the same approach...And is it just me or are the Defenders really small? As in, chibi-ish in proportions? Hopefully they use the XT4 torso.. Perhaps the most disappointing thing, to me, is the fact that we aren't getting any new torso or chest armour. It's the 2.0 torso AGAIN. I'm really starting to hate that piece..

The Hau and the Pakari are very similar to the classics. The Miru seems to lack the original's glorious troll smile but they got its eyes down. The Akaku has too many holes, but it seems faithful enough. The Kaukau is completely different- almost like a movie version Kaukau Nuva. In general, I feel as these were movie versions of the Toa Mata. You know, like the ME Khraakhan but on a whole set scale. And..I don't mind that much really. Gold aside, all colour schemes seem to be faithful (aside from Onua's purple, but do you really think I'm going to complain about that? :P). Gali's is weird though. I don't mind her having a lighter shade of blue but she has so much black/titanium metallic and... yellow? And..last thought. It seems like the minifig vs constraction figure pattern is being kept in a way, actually. Each set DOES contain a conflict between a big figure and a smaller one: Toa/Defender vs spider.

Do Onua and the Earth D. feature.. ..trans purple? I wouldn't mind purple becoming a staple of Earth sets at all. Onua lacked a bright, exciting secondary colour and tr. purple is reminiscient of cave crystals. And is Gali azure? Not bright blue like Surge? Oh boy, this is becoming more and more exciting by the minute...

I think I'm getting a good idea of the sets: -6 Defenders, 9 Euro sets.. they share the same mask. Hopefully it's a prototype quirk. -6 Toa, 13 (or 15, let's hope not) euro. Colours seem to be almost the same as their Mata forms, but with gold armour added. -One lonely Skull Spider, 13/15 Euro set I guess. Hopefully it's not the sole villain..

It seems like all Toa are wearing gold armour. Unexpected.. And the Fire Defender's box looks to be the same of Onua's, Kopaka's and Tahu's. That's really weird. Nevermind, it's slightly smaller. Each set seems to contain an extra gold mask.. but they're different from eachother!
