  1. Oh yeah, I mixed up things- Mungus had a 4M shell, Maula's Stomper had a 2.0 torso shell.
  2. Your version looks pretty spot on, I think. I guess the new Toa just need a new torso plate, some new armour, mask and weapons- to make them, well, not look like MOCs or Heroes.Fully agreed on the height. It's funny, when the CCBS debuted I was shocked at how short the new sets looked and I often tried (keyword being "tried" ) to make them taller. But during 2012, as the CCBS developed and I grew fonder and fonder of it, I realized the compact size is more manageable and looks better. Now, when I take a look at the 2006-2009 canister sets, they're just so huge. A height range between Stormer 2.0 (Toa Nuva size) and Breakout Rocka (Toa Metru size, IIRC) would be ideal. Not all Toa need to be the same height- and the CCBS would pull that variety off nicely. And this is something I thought about the other day...is the return of (new) brown and (dark) tan in sets like Ogrum/Mungus and Vardy a sign of the return of Stone sets' original colour scheme? I was REALLY surprised when Ogrum was revealed, and even more so when Mungus dropped a whole lot of new brown pieces. Personally, I never liked brown and I'd rather see orange, yellow and gold (I'm ok with tan too really), but I guess many would be happy.
  3. Maybe Bonkles (lmao) will replace HF as the main full-year constraction theme, while HF takes Chima's spot as secondary one-wave-a-year line . It'd make sense, "Fire vs Ice" Ultrabuilds aren't getting released in USA (heck, I bet we were lucky enough to get them only because they were finalized), while HF is. Obviously HF sells more than LoC Ultrabuilds do. Or maybe HF ends with a bang in Winter, for BIONICLE to debut in Summer (that would be a painful wait). Like a reverse 2010, ironically enough. I hope not, I'd like if the two themes coexisted.
  4. Yeah, but obviously he can't be Vakama or Lhikan, and Jaller (I would love a remake of him, though.. with more yellow this time) just isn't iconic as Tahu. Plus his box art shows him in a very familiar pose.
  5. I called him Teridax in the middle paragraph, actually, referring to his post-2004 persona (or, arguably, post-2001). I called him Makuta in the final paragraph to refer to his initial character- the only and only Makuta from 2001. Teridax the scheming dark overlord was certainly a lot of fun, but he never quite caught my heart like MNOG's awesome, creepy, black tentacle mass did. I wonder if Ninjago's Overlord was inspired by him.. Or are you talking about The Shadowed One? Because, AFAIK, Greg never revealed his name.
  6. That's what I'm getting at. There are so many details added (characters, pieces of history, masks..) they just feel more like canonized fanfiction, or a result of the "Hey, let's add that!" game. No offense to Greg, or any person who came up with them. On their own they're not too bad (little things like the blue Star Piraka being Nektann are pretty brilliant), but most of them weren't neccessary and they're just too many. If someone who followed Bionicle since 2001 like me has trouble keeping up with all this stuff, imagine a person who started getting into it halfway, towards the end or, even worse, only now. Yeah, this what I'd like. The taste of new stories, a new world, a mysterious villain. Mystery was one of the biggest things in 2001 Bionicle, and honestly I'd like if some things weren't explained this time around- Red Star anyone? And speaking of villains, I wonder who we're going to get this time. All we know is that there are those black spiders- but they must have a leader. I loved Teridax but I guess somehow bringing him back would be cheap. Miserix doesn't feel as badass and relevant (though dragons are really cool). Did we ever know what was the deal with the Energized Protodermis entity? That might work as a villain. Or The Shadowed One. Or a Great Being. Or...scratch that. Depending how much "re" this reboot is, 2010's ending might be ignored all together for Makuta's return. IF it's the mysterious, eldritch abomination of 2001, I'd be ok with that. MNOG Makuta is, to me, still the best Lego villain ever and is one of my favourite fictional villains to date.
  7. Whoops, looks like I made a mess with italics. The problem is that I can't fix them, nor do I know what exactly happened because.. italics don't appear on my tablet, for some reason. I'll fix them tomorrow, thanks Aanchir. Honestly? I'd be okay with that. I see HF as a colourful, campy homage to some of the most over the top genres, like mecha anime, sentai shows and Transformers's many incarnations (not exactly a genre, but I guess you get what I'm talking about). Still, I'd like to see villain minifigs as well. Oh, I guess you're right. There definitely was a stark difference in terms of functionality that required two radically different designs. Still, I'd like to see more variety next year- humanoid mechas, walkers, spaceships..As for Bionicle, I'm all for a reboot as long as the theme's general atmosphere and main elements (Great Beings, elemental powers, etc) are kept. I checked Bioniclesector01 yesterday and I was utterly confused at the post-2010 amount of stuff I missed out-and, with all due respect, I'm not sure if I even liked half of it. No way I'm feeling like learning and remembering all of it-just too complex and quite convulted, imo. A fresh start is what we need, something new and wonderful like 2001 was.
  8. I obviously don't remember much, but I remember it was very hard to tell which mask you were getting. Minifigs have unique accessories and pieces that make it easier to tell what you're finding. Masks were roughly the same size and shape and had very subtle details. Now that HF is confirmed to continue, I'll repeat what I and others said: it's totally possible for the two lines to coexist. Isn't it kinda what's happening now? A sci-fi, technologically advanced theme (HF) running alongside a more fantasy, mythical, elemental theme (Chima). Now that we have a rough idea of what's going to happen next year, IfB's transition to minifig scale makes so much more sense. While elemental robot cops and humanoid animal warriors don't overlap, elemental robot cops and ancient elemental biomechanical demigod heroes... do. I was, and still am, conflicted about Invasion from Below: while I love the Hero minifigs, I always secretly hoped it would be a one-year thing because I love my hero bots. But since we're getting Toa next year (can't believe I'm actually typing this), I'm suddenly ok with more Hero mechas. The minifigs can be easily kept, while introducing new accessories/armour and characters (like Aanchir suggested). As for the mechs, we just need some more exciting weapons (I guess they had used up the new parts budget) and a better humanoid/non humanoid mechs balance (and not SUDDENLY WALKERS ARE THE NEW BLACK like this summer). We just need another excuse for going minifig scale. "Let's fight sea monsters" and "Heroes and Villains duke it out inside giant mechas" are the coolest ideas I read so far.
  9. One thing I want is for the new sets to not fall back on 3 of the old sets' weakest points:
  10. Recon Team got axed because people designed a lot of Heroes but most them didn't buy them. It's the same reason the MOC buying feature on LDD was removed. Doubt we'll see stuff like that again.
  11. 2013 Laval's fur is dark red, not brown.
  12. What we're really missing is a head suited for the old masks to attach. Though yeah, they might reuse the 2013 redesigned head. And not sure how likely that could be, but- what if HF continues to exist as a minifig scale/constraction hybrid a la IfB, while BIONICLE serves as the pure Constraction theme ?
  13. Well, this ISN'T what I expected. As long as the CCBS is still being used (which looks to be the case) I'm all for it. I love HF but after a 5 year break I'm ready for BIONICLE round 2- especially if I can merge the two things together. : P
  14. I liked the Slizers for the concept (I got into Bionicle because of them), design-wise they're outdated now but there are some really cool concepts that I'd like to see again (like Turbo, Flare and Energy). Build, parts and (some of them) design wise, the Chima and Super Heroes Ultrabuilds are definitely my favourite ones. They act like a nice support for the parts we get in HF and provide some solid designs that tend to be more meaty and complete than the HF sets (especially as far Brain Attack goes). The others...weren't so good. Roboriders had some cool pieces but I wasn't hot on the bike designs. KK, Ben 10 and Ga that 2002 line just weren't interesting enough to me- the fact that Bionicle sets always trumped them in overall quality and parts useability didn't help.
  15. Tentro was definitely my favourite Flexor along Kraw. I was undecided so in the end I let my dad decide which one to buy, heh. So I might buy him next. The Frosticons appeal me as well. Flurr looks very cute, but so does Lunk. Hmm.. I might get a Frosticon next time afterall. Thanks!
  16. Got my first Mixel yesterday, Kraw! I wasn't sold on the Series 1 sets but the Flexors do really look rather cool. I'm pretty interested in the Winztastics too...I'll think I'll buy another one (Flexors or not, not sure). Any suggestions?
  17. Excellent! Thanks a lot VBBN. ;-)
  18. VBBN, a question: are the Queen's arms limited in poseability in any way? Do the wing connection and/or the narrowness of her shoulders create some issues? I built her upper body a while ago, not sure if I did everything correctly back then, but her arms gave me some trouble.
  19. ^ The chest printing looks a bit on the gold side to me. I think it's to show his ties to the Queen. While the animated episode didn't state anything on that (but then again, did it really state anything in general? ) I get the feeling Crystal's pretty high ranking in the Beast hierarchy, given that chest and the staff he wields.
  20. Again, a great figure. The Queen beats Splitter Beast, like Crystal beat Flyer and Tunneler beat Jaw (narrowly!). Overall I find the Summer Beasts are above the Winter Beasts, both in design and colours. Once again, thanks for the review! Great job on these 7 as usual!
  21. He's even better than I thought- and my opinion on him was already high to begin with. Glad the coccoon is lime like on Nuremberg, unlike the aqua green of the NY set. Like Crystal Beast, another winner. Good review as usual! Onto the Queen..
  22. I just love, love this guy. Sure, his proportions are odd, but they fir well with his dragon-like look (all Beasts have something dragon-like in them, but he's the most dragonic one I think. And his colour scheme and head are just amazing- thanks to your photos, I can really appreciate them. Thanks a lot!
  23. Just really glad Breez got her printed piece. It's a 4M shell but that's ok, probably even better for what I need it for. Really not interested in the set otherwise- still, thanks for the review.
  24. Got him today (buying those 11 pieces I truly needed would've costed me 13 Euro..so I bought the full set on Amazon for 17), and I confirm my thoughts. The wings look terrible, and the mechanism works worse than I thought...on the plus side, the wing pieces look gorgeous. Same for the head, great piece. I didn't build the weapon so I don't know how it is, I do like the new blades however. Overall I still recommend him..but 20 Euro still feels a tad too much.
  25. Loving Firox! I'm liking the Phoenixes more and more, to the point I'm thinking of collecting them all. I'm a bit late with the Eagles though (only Eris and Eglor for now)...I just have a weak spot for birds, what can I do.
