I'm also working on a bar and I think there are elements in this pub that I just might steal. Definitely some good elements here.

Absolutely! You can see the Stig minifigure sitting upright inside the car in the first pic (on the track version), and there is also a lady minifig in the original car sitting upright. Thanks for more feedback.
-
more feedback, thanks guys! Well, it's not a 'race car' version, per se. Still a road-legal car that has serious track capability, like... Ferrari F430 Scuderia, Dodge Viper ACR, things like that.... so the mirror stays I kinda shifted my main focus on bigger projects but yeah, still thinking of a clean way to remove some kinks when I can, heheh

I really don't think skyscrapers of this magnitude need an interior. It's sheer size should be enough to wow viewers. I like the roof detail here and the antenna That said ground level can use some details though, aside from just the building sitting in a green plate.
-
Thanks again for the comments! I think I can bring the bigger vent on the track car down a plate, though Im not sure if I want to do that right away. Building another one as of right now.

Nice suspension... And the white roof makes it classic Bronco.

I like the way the roof is held.

I already upgraded it. Like some supercars and grand tourers, they almost always seem to have a more outrageous, more race track-oriented sibling. So I made one for my GT car! Tested and approved by The Stig. took me quite a bit of research to find a set of black wheels but even since I found them I saved them for something like this. Bigger vents, stripes... yeah. So, which do you guys prefer, standard version, or the sporty track version?

Thanks for the comments! Yeah, I like the proportions too, and the 5-wide body in a 6-wide chassis doesn't make it that large compared to 6-wide body trucks (with 7-wide wheels), and I'd like to build some more cars like this. Best side view here: I tried to make it more like a Corvette/Aston Martin/Ferrari 599GTB of sorts. Also, I'll try some variants regarding this car.

Woot again, my 3rd official MOC: Grand Tourer! EDIT DOWN BELOW: ITS MEANER SIDE! Grand Tourer RS ANOTHER EDIT: NEW REVISION, AND IT'S BLACK Yes, it's big. I wanted the long hood to give it that "it has a big V-8" feel. Its also my first attempt at garnering a million jumper pieces and make the body 5-wide (though the chassis is 6-wide). Comments? Suggestions? Thanks. NEW REVISION, minor changes! Check my Flickr page on the latest pictures!

absolutely blows the official set out of the water. Congrats.

Love that billiard table.

Pretty sure Jamie Berard said in the 10211 thread that the Green Grocer is going to be sold at least until the end of the year. It's probably only temporarily out of stock. Though still get GG if you can because it's one damn good set and the best modular.

Who says you can't have roadplates going with option #2? I like option #2, even without roads. Easier to photograph in streetview, your buildings (all look amazing btw) has their front facades easily visible, unlike the T, who has some of its buildings turned on its back on some views. Also, in a downtown-looking district, here in USA at least it is dominated with grid sections (with 1-way streets) and rarely do you see a T-junction, so for me that's a con against the T. My 2 bricks.

AFOLs contribute a little under 5% of LEGO sales
wooootles replied to Rick's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yeah, I sometimes hate the sense of entitlements of some AFOLs, especially in town sets Let me put my spin on the topic---it's 5% of probably a very big sales number, so it's still significant Also, most AFOL do MOC anyway, do they count PaB sales and Bricklink transactions? -
Grats for having 3 GE's! That's just sick. I like the 3-story version with all of them side-by-side.
-
I it. Reminds me of the 70s office buildings. My minor criticism is that I think there's too much white interior parts. But overall it's very very nice, the roof details are astounding.

1. GG (overall awesome. Also poked me out of dark ages) 2. GE (too close to call, I'm leaning on GE to be number 2 after all the infatuation, but it may be number 1 when I get my paws on it) 3. CC (awesome too. Made me think about poking out of dark ages) 4. FB (dont like the old firetruck, but also overall awesome) 5. MS (awesome but limited... and I didn't get a chance to get one :( )

We probably won't get CITY restaurants for a while (thanks 7641!) But I'd like to see a 50s American-style diner. I'd rather see it Exclusive style instead of CITY style, with the level of detail like on Town Plan and the Winter Toy Shop, which is below Exclusive modular level...
-
I only have 2 modulars, CC and GG. They won't ever be cannibalized for parts---ever. My CITY sets end up otherwise, but the modulars are just too good out of the box. They will probably be modded a bit; Planning on a CC interior is one of my goals that I havent started yet. Only time I will break them for parts is when I have a second set. (Thus CC staying as it is is out of the question)

I gotta say, it looks hella awkward with multiple setup, more awkward than I expected. Anything with more than 3 floors look weird for a department store. 2 GE's side by side looks very artificial, too. I believe people already mentioned the double columns... not to mention the big wall separating the two stores together lol No, double GE's would have to be reworked completely. The exterior can be borrowed from the original instructions but this one would need to take some creativity to make it look decent. I vote for the last option!

Public Transport yay! I wouldn't mind getting another bus (and wouldn't mind if its identical to the 7641 bus, which the concept drawing was), perhaps with a different number. It would be interesting if this turns out to have a monorail. Oh yes...
-
Oh hai, the man himself! The 1x1 CC tiles in the shop front was a bit complex, though nothing excruciating, but I thought something like the Green Grocer's 2x2 tan/dark tan tiles were fantastic and not too complicated and I can imagine something like that would have worked well here in GE. But it's a fair tradeoff especially when we get a handful of new arch bricks, 1x3 tiles, many windows and all the other new stuff.

What I plan to do. Let's face it, Grand Emporium is rather small for a department store. The 2-wide aisle after the escalator still bugs me. The dressing room is just... out there, but I'd rather make the small exit door and the very small backyard the dressing room (that wouldn't be too hard no wouldn't it?) Having entered some shops last winter in the Magnificent Mile bunch of awesome ideas came through my head regarding GE, but I'll need at least 2 copies + PAB to do it. The ideas. They're all in my head. The customizability (that a word? lul) of GE is absurdly high.
