  1. You are too kind... I teach history 50% online 50% on ground at different universities. Hoping to land a full time job soon, so that I may make comparable money only teaching 5 classes, but guessing I will have to finish my dissertation first.
  2. I am only buying on discount now (well as soon as I get a goblin king set) as I have to save for a wedding next year. But, after Christmas, I am looking to buy any LOTR that might go on sale and hopefully score some Ninjago sets on discount. I really want to get back to building... 12 classes to grade this week, but I should only have one over the next three weeks after this week is over. So I am really hoping that I can get a few MOCs in. But every time I say that, I don't... So, maybe I should say that I can't do any, and see what happens.
  3. Excellent MOC, great story. Worth the wait, and that wall flows so well. I like that the tower is in there seamlessly, really a master crafted fortress! Great job here.
  4. I was at Cherry Lane almost at opening, saw the same thing. I saw the Warg set too, did the math on the sale, and realized that it was still a better deal buying from Walmart. Right, our TRUs here in Fort Worth all have at least a couple full price PoP sets. I don't understand why they don't clearance those suckers out. I would buy them deep discount. Not at the overpriced markup though.
  5. I think I have been missing them by hours. There seem to be a lot of collectors in the DFW area. I found one crunched up and thrown behind a pile of PoP sets, but that is all I have found so far. Just looking to get 5 total.
  6. From yoyo? Lucky! they wouldn't let me use the coupon with the set.
  7. I had the same thoughts. Excellent scene though, I really like the feel, straight out of the story. Also, great subject, as this is one of those more interesting Grimm tales.
  8. Thumbs up to that idea. As for the scalpers, I watched more than half of the Hobbit sets get bought today at a Walmart by one person - two carts, one guy. Amazing. I got one of each that I was looking for. Weirdly, without a sale, I am not sure how exactly he is going to profit by paying 10000 dollars for at market rate sets that will be widely available. He didn't care to share that information when I asked him.
  9. Thanks for the coupon, just to let everyone know, other than Black Pearl (which has a $20 mark up) all of the large sets are on sale, thus making the coupon not effective.... I really wanted to use it on Helms Deep!!! But there are many 50-70 dollar sets not on sale that it works for. My second choice was Mines of Moria but they were out of stock, so I ended up getting London Escape for 31 dollars. Not bad.
  10. Yeah, Ithink if every 1 real day = 2 historica days, we either have two years = 1 historica year, or seasons that last twice as long (by the amount of days) as real seasons.
  11. I will do the same. I only want like five, but I am willing to stock up to send to my fellow EBers.
  12. Man, I totally missed all that. Stupid Lego stores being an hour away... Sounds like a great deal. I am hoping that they have the same free Christmas pick a brick boxes when you spend over $75 between now Christmas, I scored big in March because of all the boxes I had.
  13. Is there only one in Fort Worth, on Cherry lane? I wasn't able to make it down there, but Southlake had none when I was there. I think there is one in Hurst too, but that is the area I call "The bad place" because of the traffic nightmare.
  14. For the record - I got the joke. Also - Yeah, my TRU did not have any, and I drove in the wrong direction to visit more yesterday. I am guessing I am not going to get any of these as there is no way I am venturing out into civilization until Monday! TLG needs to make more polybags per run. They have to be making a killing here, I wish they would issue twice as many. I already see resellers have grabbed a horde of them too. Which I am torn about, because like Rogueang, I would like a bunch of these, so I would be grabbing as many as possible -- However, collectors tend to appreciate, where resellers jack up the price. sigh... just wish I knew when our truckloads come in!
  15. Happy Turkey Day to all of you, even if you are not in the USA - I give thanks for the good AFOL friends that we all have here.
  16. So they did make it to Texas... Could not find any today! Missed them online yesterday. Boo.
  17. I was out hunting for those elves today... Not-a-one. Looks good! Did you get them all in one place? TRU? Also... Not one blonde from the CFs?
  18. I bought a ton of the white ones for challenge two and never made the trees!!! Those were expensive... Well I bought the fall pack, some weeds, and some roof pieces. I will give a full report when I see them. I am already thinking I should have bought two fall packs.
  19. I hope the Kaliphlin Times will have 24/7 news coverage of this exciting time. But I heard their rival the Nocturni Herald has already embedded reporters with the campaigns.
  20. I think any "rebel" from another guild's territory or your own is fine. So, if they are defying the king like the cultists I used in the Battle of Khordeem or the Corrupt Hand already mentioned would be fine. There are bad guys in Historica, and everyone can make up new ones, as long as they are not fighting law-abiding citizens of the other guilds. Or at least that is my take on it.
  21. I may jump on the bandwagon... Those look awesome. at 20 cents per leaf in the fall pack, that seems a decent price as long as they are high enough quality to pass muster.
  22. 1) Skaforhire 2) Bluecoats 3)Surgeon (Sailmaker or ropemaker)
  23. I was taken aback by the name change! haha. I like the NRG figs, but I can't justify buying them at around $10 a pop, and the sets just don't do much for me :( Is anyone getting these things cheap, and how? Good to see DaMax resurface, I hope the studying is going well. I am hoping to get a few builds out before C VI is announced. I can't promise anything, but I think I may be able to squeeze in at least one University Build.
  24. Wow... One year. Nuts. It was actually GoH, that I randomly found one day during one of my brief reappearances to EB that made me a regular again. I also was almost 70% a pirate collector, now most of my second collection (first collection is in storage 1000 miles away) is castle related... or at least tan related. I just happened to find the guilds before the first challenge, and it took me two days to read all the posts. I knew I was going to be Kaliphlin from the start though.
  25. I really just have the legs somewhat done, along with the scenery I was a good 20 hours away from completion... I think I might go back to investigating how much it would take me to make a more polished version of the statue and make it one of the 7 wonders of Historica. Right now, I think my next project is to build the stadium for the university, and then ask permission to run a contest / event that revolves around it. I have a neat idea that includes a minimalist approach to building contest. Also in December when I have a few breaks from some of the places I teach, I think I may run another "send in your character to fight the forces of evil" thread, as that seemed to go over well. EDIT: Actually, that might be a pretty epic contest in its own right. Maybe 6 months after the final challenge, we could have a due date for a "7 Wonders of Historica" challenge. With 6 months, some monstrous man made creations could be created. Colossus? Pantheon? Giant Pyramid of Kaliphlin? We could set the parameters that the creation had to be absolutely epic. We could offer some medium size prizes to each of the winners, which would be decided from a Eurobricks wide poll.
