  1. Most Avalonians that face a Kaliphlite in battle end up with knives in their backs, and it isn't because we prefer to use assassins.
  2. I like the crossed out ideas. Lets see some Avalonian heads roll!
  3. If we were using real life historic numbers, 500 men would not really be an exaggeration. But, only a few of us could actually represent something that large in our collection. Besides, even if one has 500 men under their command, not all of them are going to be marching. Presumably some of them will be on defense at various strategic points. I agree looking at the map, the territory looks big, but it isn't the biggest in Avalonia. Anyway, welcome Brickington, even if you play for the wrong team.
  4. Oh oh! I know this one! Show them an army from any of the other guilds, and they will come flocking back home to hide! ---- On a serious note, find a Kaliphlinite that wants to go splits on the chess set. Probably the best way to get some Avalonian looking soldiers.
  5. No, Lost Vega is the Los Vegas of Historica, Avalonians are just too poor to vacation there. They also tend to buy into the whole tourist trap while they are there, very profitable for us. DG - Awesome little MOC!
  6. You mean the one where someone kicked his puppy really hard, and he vowed never to let someone kick his puppy every again?
  7. Long ways down the road... but after this is more complete, Kai may want to directly link some of these profiles to their corresponding wiki entries.
  8. I agree with the trans-clear blocks comment. It looks like this is a very fast moving stream, but seems to be too small and too straight to be moving that fast. Otherwise, awesome little build here. I look forward to your next.
  9. Yeah, if they did something similar to Historica over there, that would be awesome. But bad for me... I would go broke trying to buy enough sci-fi elements to participate. I don't know if my Fiance will accept moving wholesale into another theme. But I had so much fun here, that I would want to keep with everyone. I have looked at doing the micro challenge also, some really awesome builds coming out of the Sci-Fi month contests. I wish I had the pieces for building Sci-fi.
  10. Oh good God, yes. Heck, lets just stage a whole minifig musical / opera about the destruction of Victor. There was too much goodness in the above posts to quote everyone. But you all have uncovered my plan to send hobbits to mount Cedrica only to find victor waiting for them to tell one that he is their father, while being controlled by an even greater power. Victor, after-all is the apprentice. Big twist... Jar Jar Binks is the master! And... the hobbits are already dead and just think they are alive. M. Night Shyamalan this sucker up.
  11. HAHAHAHAHAHA. Nice! you better moc that one, if you have any Johnny Depps lying around, you have some dreads to use. I guess that explains the title, first one! yay! I agree about the mini-challenges, we need to let the GLs get in on it too.
  12. I can't resist.... ”You finally really did it. You maniacs! You blew it up! damn you! damn you all to hell!” I too was thinking "wow, Rasputin has been working out."
  13. As for BB, checking out his posts, it seems the culprit post may have been the one in the historic themes that he made yesterday not this one. He was pretty harsh towards other members.
  14. Awesome walls, I don't think I have seen that technique used like this before - usually it is just on bookshelves! The rest looks great too, but where is the door??? :) Keep up the great work!
  15. Yikes what happened to Captain BeerBeard?
  16. Yes, but you all hold this place up well. It was a tough job, but someone had to do it.
  17. Yeah, I would like that too. I just don't collect anything but Pirates and Castle though!!! Did anyone ever announce what the secret project some of our guild leaders planned on launching next? I think it was like 6 months ago one of them said there was going to be something in another theme that was going to be a huge event like historica.
  18. I am willing to step up after the official challenges end and with a few others start a new storyline if we want. I was going to offer this after the final challenge, but might as well drop it now. I can't really always offer prizes for challenges, but could throw some money in the pot. I would suggest, if we do a "Historica: Book 2" that we do not start it until October, when people start to come back after summer. So in-between the end of "Book 1" and "Book 2," free builds would probably not be scored. Speaking of scoring, it seems that we have 4 very top-of-the-line builders scoring builds now. I am not a top-of-the-line builder (maybe medium skill?), although I can recognize quality. Still, I rather we have a few top end builders on the judging panel, even if that rotated from challenge to challenge. I guess what it comes down to is, who is planning on sticking around after the end? And, who can recruit to come back / or be new participants in the next chapter of Historica?
  19. Great job, I like the use of the statue there, it definitely reminds me of enlightenment era docks in one of the great cities of Europe. I really like the design of the dock itself, although, when you make the full size (if you are planning on doing so) I would extend the dock itself about eight studs to accommodate larger loads. One thing I was thinking after viewing this is that your building and picture-taking abilities have come a long way since starting GoH. Great work.
  20. I am not sure what kind of battle scene I may have for the challenge itself. I actually thought about drawing a name out of a hat of all the current Historica members and make their fig kill Revolword in a sneak attack... haha. I think I would feel odd if Dugal got the kill. I am just not sold on a major battle scene as one of my entries yet. However, I do hope to do another "send your troops" battle as a prelude. Mainly because I want to create some lore that will stick, and test my game rules again. This time I won't announce it a day before it happens, but a couple weeks out. Probably in mid-February. As for waiting him out. With a normal enemy I think that would be pretty wise, but with one that can conjure so much destruction, we probably need to face him head on.
  21. Just enough so that we know when the deadline is. That works.
  22. It would be nice to get a firm deadline on when freebuilds for points will be accepted to.
  23. Stunning! I really love those sails, and everything else looks right on... except I think the rear lateen sail may be pushed too far back for the time period this ship looks to come from.
  24. I guess I have not read that yet, is it certain that new Castle is a "bridge" theme? Are we talking Pirates Jr. here? That would be very disappointing. I still have a ton of those Pirates Jr. hulls that I can't fully find a good use for.
  25. Well, as one builder of extremely tall MOCs to another, I am a fan of this. I really like the layers, but I agree - where is this?
