  1. I actually have a bunch of black and white stocked up because that was what I was going to use as my colors for the CC equivalent of GoH. Except then I went into my forced Lego hibernation as soon as that event kicked off... Come to think about it, I never did tell anyone over there what had happened. Woops Back on topic, Black and white is cool, and I think the Yin Yang idea fits a fifth guild, perhaps they strive to restore a balance in Historica after the elemental uprising?
  2. Yeah, Rob had pointed that out to me today that they were the same as Nocturni colors... I thought they were red and black. I wish Lego made more colors available. I really would like a deep purple.
  3. Yes, that would be a formidable combination, and I would enjoy working with you too. On another note, since Gold, grey, white, and pink seem to be the only different colors (I guess you could count sand green) not taken by the other guilds already, I was wondering what people thought would be the most efficient use of existing flags for a new guild. Right now I am leaning towards Red and Gold - as they are the most abundant. Then again, that puts red in three different flags. I would go with blue and gold, but to me that naturally looks like the crown knights too much. white and grey are really expensive, and the pink available is more of a hot pink than a deep pink. Too bad the friends series doesn't have purple flags! So I feel like gold with one of the other colors we are already using would be the best option. What do you all think?
  4. I would hope that we could win this mini-challenge. I think we have the best storytellers, and I usually don't make bold pronouncements like that, but I am confident in this. I would hate to lose a builder of Kaliphlin though. Also, I "should" (as long as the loan clears) be moving this weekend. In our new house I have a Lego room waiting for me, so I will be back to building soon! So I hope to have enough time to get something in for this. But... I would be totally willing to write the story for someone if they wanted to do the MOCs. I don't know if we can team-entry though.
  5. I think the challenge 5 prize should be win a MOCing lesson from Cara. Dang, this is fantastic!
  6. I really like the uniqueness here, way to think outside the box!!! I am struggling a little bit with the 2d vision of a portrait that has 3 dimensions, but I have no clue how you could achieve that in a "painting" like setting as you did. Otherwise, I really like it. So clever!
  7. Man, this was seems to be taking a huge toll on sea commerce throughout the continent, this is like the 6th port to get sacked. I see that Victor is moving towards economic warfare! haha. Anyway, this one is really cool. I would hate to be the judges, as there are so many good entries. I love the action of the tower being washed away, but I do wish there was a little more micro-scale, or it was more noticeable. But that is really my only criticism of this. I like the colors.
  8. Aww, Sebeus, I believe GEAR Co. had bought a few of these from you in years past. Our large fleet uses them as workhorses along the southern coast. A solid little ship. OCC: I like the mix of colors, although, it does seem like a renaissance ship in its bow lines. I would raise the castles a bit to make it feel more medieval. Although... It is a trade ship, so maybe not. I think, with the interest in ship building that we may want to have a fighting ship / trade ship contest as one of our filler contests. I could probably put some money towards a gift card prize next month. Although, I would hope to compete as my whole group is based off being former pirates and privateers, but I guess I could be one of the judges instead.
  9. althugh the tide of the conversation has waned... Shout out to BG2, I also played it forever. Angeli's avatar always makes me smile when I see it. BTW, the sneak preview looks good!
  10. In addition, I think it is the season also. I feel like people have less time in the summer - partially the good weather and probably out-of-school type vacations. One of the reasons networks used to always show repeats in the summer was because it was the lowest time for ratings... anyway, for some reason I find I have less time for anything - leisure or work, I am a professor and my load actually went way up this summer! Which is totally abnormal for my profession.
  11. I was thinking the same thing... but that pesky rule about fighting amongst guilds and the matter of the elemental war seems to limit such opportunities.
  12. I don't know, Kaliphlin seems to have a heavy dose of waterborne merchants and fleets. Wait, are you admitting that Avalonia is full of criminals? :P
  13. HAHA!!! Man, the qualities of entries and builds of historica get knocked up a notch every time you post!!! Excellent job. I will give a more detailed feedback in a few days when I have more time.
  14. Well... Absolutely Incredible! If this does not make about a gazillion points for Avalonia, then no free build should be worth anything... haha. This is spectacular. I wish I could see it in person.
  15. This is similar to what I was going to originally do (I love the idea of a water elemental tearing apart a ship), but yours is awesome! I really like the main scene itself. The crane and the light house are excellent. I have one critique, the micro-scale just seems so detached. I was very confused by the first shot, but it made sense when you took the side angle. However, even from the side angle it seems that you needed some more rocky territory leading down to the microscale, as some of the pictures make it look like a right angle cut out of the scene. I hope I am describing that right... Anyway, I really do like it... I just think it needs a little "filler" in that area.
  16. I think I came off snappy, sorry it was late, and that was not my intention - I was just giving a counter opinion to help him decide what he wants to do with it. I very much respect your building expertise in both naval and medieval settings. And I have not built a new pirate ship in probably 5 years... so my take on building age of sail ships is probably a bit off too.
  17. I really like this MOC, and I think you should get extra credit for finishing early. Your monster is pretty cool, and not at all what I was expecting. I like the whole feel of the last stand, but I think the microscale may need some more detail to make it stick out. Still, much better than the dredge I will be producing. Excellent build!
  18. I don't know... It might work as a large Carrack, that would pretty much press it into the Renaissance though. However, he did invent the printing press, so perhaps his tech is top of the line? Also, when we have dudes shooting lightning and elves, I don't know how much we can pull back technology... Some of these dwarves seem to have steam power. Most of the cogs produced for GOH so far seem to be more renaissance than late medieval anyway.
  19. Welcome Ageven Deraim, Kaliphlin greets you with open arms. You will find the people here reasonable and accepting, and we look forward to witnessing the construction of your base and your acceptance into the circle of leaders amongst our fair and powerful guild.
  20. I agree, I became a much more active member of the community (although I was pretty active up until 2007 in the pirates forum. This is a great event, and I hope it continues with new stories and ideas after the official end. About the counts - I think June 1st might be a little late to count active members, I believe that the winter months in the Northern hemisphere are the busiest on Eurobricks, and more people seem to have more time to build. But, we will all see who will show back up later on. Anyway, even if there were only ten other people, I would still be having fun. Lastly, SI, I plan on getting something in to get us points... even if it is not my best work. I was going to do an ocean scene (like many of you all seem to be doing!) But I don't think I will be able to get enough blue. Anyway, I will figure something out.
  21. I think that elemental looks terrific. The head could use a little more definition, but the body is great. Also, I agree that a little foliage on its back and arms may make it look as if it "came from below" If it was big enough you could even achieve this by putting some structural elements on its back... like a wishing well!!! lol -------- On another note, I haven't been able to start building anything and fear that I may miss this competition again. Our house is all packed up again, because this landlord sold the house from under us again! I just had that happen in April!!! So this time, we are trying hard to buy a house so we never have this problem again. But that means that my Lego purchases are going to be way down for the forseeable future as we put together the down payment... I am still going to try and get a small scene built for the competition - the rules didn't say the whole MOC couldn't be in microscale did it? I have this vision of a sprawling oasis being crushed by a 150 foot elemental...
  22. Another excellent piece of architecture and defense within the borders of Kaliphlin. I really like the window details, the rock formation, the sappers, and the school. Great ideas there. This is an excellent build with all the right visibility built in. Are you planning on building the rest of the academy?
  23. I do agree that some fit better in a few of the guilds. Now, speaking of Cedrica, is there a moc that shows any of the official army uniforms? I was thinking of doing a Cedrica MOC - actually a trial of one of the traitors we found at the battle we ran two weekends ago.
  24. Awww... the time to get free builds in. That I am also finding lacking. So many things I want to build, not enough time (or parts!) I start teaching summer classes on Monday, but I am pretty sure I will be able to squeeze in one free build (I am leaning towards creating a MOC that represents the trial of the traitors from the battle last weekend) and the challenge, I will use the challenge to help bring about my story of what happened to Dugal and why he is missing.
  25. I hope it is not in bad taste but... Yeah, it was clearly structurally lacking if it was shattered. You may want to shore up your foundations!!! :P
