You are really progressing very very fast here; just two weeks from the first post till here.. However your "ship" is more like a house build on prefabs; there may be worse examples of that but still, it doesn't particularly look like a ship to me! The modularity is a nice feature however; something that I hold myself in great value.

It's a MOC and it's not a good one. It lacks any kind of building skills and isn't realistic nor aesthetic. It's just huge and expensive.
-
I have to agree what already has been said: The decal lacks any kind of detail and it isn't even symmetric. Try to use some decals from the index to find the right form. If you keep practicing, you'll get there some day.

That's a very fine ship you have there! Not realistic in any way, but still great fun and it really captures that original classic pirates feel very well. The modularity is great as it is the case with the Imperial ship of yours. You really should add gunports to the lower gundeck! A few holes in the hull won't do it! And please add some ratlines to the masts. I don't feel custom ones necessary here, but they're always the best... Also I'm not to convinced by the pirate flags on the upper guneck... Apart from that it's a nice ship really.

That is ome good progress you've made here. I somehow like the first level of the stern with the balcony. One more issue: The colourscheme looks really boring; you have all existing colours available in LDD; try to switch to reddish brown for (at least some parts of) the hull... You might also want to use the Universe Mod for more colours and elements. Ordering them from Lego is too expensive anyway. -
Wow that is incredible! For a long time I thought you would have given up this project; it is one of those I always look upon when I'm planning a new ship since the building techniques shown here work so great! In addition I think it's the first project of this enormous size and quality (Minifig scale) here on EB. I wish you the best of luck completing it. I esspecially look forward to seeing your stern. Oh, and your MOC carronades look awesome!

Congratulations Skalldyr; I love the way you made the road Ohh and the canalisation has also been nice... and fun what this was all about!

Even though I think it's a nice idea to make plug bayonets as another form of them, I think these are too clums as are pretty much all bayonets that are not 3rd party ones (Brickarms). I would appreciate better photography next time even though the construction is pretty clear.

Wow, that is really a remarkable progress! Your ship is getting better every time you rebuild it and the use of Blackmoors hull technique works really great; I esspecially like the modular structure! The colourscheme is well chosen as well; reaslistic for a Franco-Spanish ship of the 18th century! I'm not quite sure how the mast design works, but I'm pretty confident you'll make it sufficiently stable. Now I am really jelous; everybody is building on their huge ship project - yours is actually pretty much how I would like the Superbe to be - yet I do not have time to build myself

Nice pictures, but it took me quite a bit to load them with my internet connection (and that isn't exactly a slow one!), so you better reduce the file size. Please. It seems you can't completely believe your luck on the first picture - big smile!

Amazing, you are truly an outstanding BrickArtist if I may say so. I love the second drawing most. It has some lovely action in it. I think the best thing about these drawings is that they pose minifigs in more human-like positions yet remain their typical flair.

Favorite underwater theme?
BrickPerfection replied to Algernon's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I voted Aquasharks because they add a nice vintage feelingto me and remember me a bit of my own childhood I do realise however it probably isn't the most elabourate underwater theme; probably Atlantis is. -
Hehe, you did well show the stupidity of the Redcoats, well done! They can't even read! I like your roof. Simple but it works well.

When you mentioned your new mast design inspired by Phred and ZCerberus on MSN, I had no idea it would look so good, really nice However I also have to adress that the yards (the lowest at least ) look way too small in relation to the mast. If it only bends under tension yet won't break I'm pretty confident the upper part will be perfectly stable with rigging... Ahh and your bow looks completly awesome. It capture the unique appeareance of a ship of the line perfectly! Actually this is exactly what I wanted to achieve with the "Superbe" however I lacked the time and still do so it's unfortunately pretty unlikely I will soon be able to build such a beauty myself. The colours remins me of the victory a bit... Cheers and the best of luck with the rigging Perfectionist

If this is seriously your first pirate ship, than I have to tip hat to you: It may not be the most realistic one, but it really excells at bringing back the classic old Pirate look and feel! In addition the overall impression is almost stunning. What I like most though is the complete modularity! I always liked ships with an interior the most.

I simply do not know where you're heading with that foresail.... The figrehead is nice, inspired by the Imperial Flagship. Even if you say realism or building skill doesn't matter to you, I say: change the foresail to how it is normally attached; add a gunport stripe in a colour different than brown or black and sue 2x2 gunports. Good luck!

This is one of the best rebuilds I have seen in a long time; even though it's simple, it makes the entire ship looks so much better... I seriously do like your new bow. All you now need is... guess what? A full custom rigging I do understand if you don't have the time, but on such a nice ship it is almsot essential I think.
-
pfff this is somewhat crazy.... Though I've got to say I have never seen something like it before... it is creative for sure and that's what Lego is all about... As a child I used to make Roman soldiers with red roof bricks and at some points I gave them guns Your post does somehow remind me of it...

Judging from the first pictures is always somewhat difficult, but I do see some issues already: ->You are making the common mistake to make the hull overproportionally high in relation to its width... ->the curving doesn't seem harmonic as it is now. The keel looks really nice though... and the size rules -
As nobody mentioned it already: you really really should offset the gunports as seen on historic designs like this one: In addition this ship model also shows you two things: -> you need to have the hull to curve in two ways in addition to the tumblehome ->in relation to the rest of the ship the sterns is WAY to high and the bow slightly too low (or at least the figurehead is) Hope this helps...

It's surprisingly nice for a cannon design that simple. However besides the aesthetic flaws CGH has discovered already I also reckon that you won't be able to move the barrel down and upwards looks simply silly... I would try to stick to the original undercarriage from Lego and use connectors for a black barrel... I know it's 4 studs wide, but it looks sooo much better

Hmm Captain, Becker may I encourage you to use MLCAD? Since it has the old style bow pieces in it and several MOCs made with it have shown how great it works... LDD is ok, but I think it doesn't really provide the bricks necessary for shipbuilding (even in universe mod) since they have been discontinued. You can build a brickbuild hull with it, but that is really tough work and you obviously lack the skills to bring it to perfection! However your project is a nice one in terms of size and, of course, its name, so I wish you the best of luck with it!

I voted "something new please" since I am not really 100% pleased with either shark... The old one looks much too small isn't very detailed and not manacing at all. The new one is kind of too cartoonish for me. What I would really like would be a realistic looking shark that stil has the intimidating lenght of 4-5m in minifig scale. I don't really care if it can fit an entire minifig; since they're quite fat compared to humans it probably would screw up prpotions again. I do know this is just a wish that is unlikely to become reality, but you asked for our thoughts, so here's mine

My Pirates collection (and naming ships)
BrickPerfection replied to Southwest Chief's topic in LEGO Pirates
VERY nice collection! Even though I much prefer MOCs this is so impressive that i do wish i had a few more classic sets... they have so much vintage flair it's incredible! Even though the 2009 sets aren't that bad I still prefer the original ones (as most Pirate fans do). Once I have the money and space necessary I will most definetly get a few of those.... Congratulations on that collection! -
New Musical Instruments from BrickForge!
BrickPerfection replied to Hound Knight's topic in Pirate MOCs
Wow that is indeed a very nice surprise! So far there has been almost no possibility to have a Lego Rock Band, I really like the guitars!
