  1. Right, here we are. One snowy tower. Fairly pleased with this, it was a pretty fun build.Got all 3 elements I wanted in: tower, beacon, well. Also added some chopped trees for no reason, since it was looking kinda bare. I need a break from castle now, I think. I might make something SPACEy soon. More pics in the Photoset
  2. A snowstorm rages... Or 88% opacity on a white layer above the pic... There's some changes I want to make to the snow on some roofing bits, but other than that it's done. Unfortunately, by the time I'd finished it was too dark. Pics either tomorrow or Monday. Good news! My explorations in the Rakath Mountains were assailed by appalling weather. Luckily, I made it to one of the watch outposts just as I was starting to get a little chilly. For now I will rest, for the journey has been long. Tomorrow I hope to explore further! -YtR
  3. ^lol I was hoping the whole "territories" thing was going to be brought up, if only so I could say that I'm against it. (I'm also against title-whoring, but that's all that Adonii(SP?) kid's fault, lol). The way I'm playing this game is simple... if I want to build something, I will, whatever or wherever it is. That's why I have a desert watchtower, a desert seige workshop, and a WIP snow watchtower. Oh, and a mountain Griffin. (I think... I haven't quite worked out where Griffins live, but mountains make sense). My point is, we can't have a decent variety if we're constrained to a small area somewhere. But yeah, looks like we of Kaliphlin are of similar opinion, so I'll stop my ranting and raving now. Back to landscaping the snow, (snowscaping?) which is far more difficult than I had anticipated. -YtR
  4. Looking great! We really need more mountain-towers, we can get a Gondor-style beacon system going, lol. Really nifty photoshopping too, very nice blending of brick to rock.
  5. MOP, if you check our map you'll see that we have more than sand. We border Nocturnus in the East, over the Rakath Mountains. I myself am currently building a tower nestled in the snowy mountains (TEASER :P). Also, we have forests in the North-West, close to our borders with Avalonia, and even swamps to the South.
  6. Possibly. That being said, Kaliphlin's probably ahead with regards to mapping and plot. :P
  7. I called it done shortly before I destroyed it to build my new tower, but thanks! And yeah, I should have added more detail at the front, it was a bit blank. But I picked up the PQ snake statue set for cheap recently, so I've got a bunch of dark tan 2x4s I can mix into my deserts in future.
  8. A Griffin rider overflew the construction of a small outpost in the Rakath Mountains earlier this evening. Construction appears to be going well (but there's no terrain yet, working on that later.) Yes, I'm building another watchtower for the challenge. We don't have as many as the other guilds, so I'll compensate for that as best I can. Details to be added include, as mentioned above, a base, possibly a smaller tower with a bunch of wood to use as a beacon, and snow. Lots and lots of snow. Luckily, white is my most common colour. -YtR
  9. Good news! I have recently returned from an excursion in the North, where I visited our newly-completed Seige Workshop. I can confirm that it is now a real hive of activity, and I was fortunate enough to observe the assembly of a ballista. Also, those clever folks have created a small catapult to round off their arsenal. Although we are of course still in times of peace, with these weapons we should be able to, if the need were to arise, easily take over a small enemy watchtower. Anything larger, and we may need to design larger weapons. However, the weaponsmiths do not wish to cause alarm, and have for now sworn only to build these small-scale engines. 10. Right. Here we are, one catapult. Apologies for the slight blur. And here are all 3 together. AoE2 fans will be pleased that each of the three weapons available from the Seige Workshop have now been built. Catapult - Avec les autres by .Jake, on Flickr Enjoy, and as usual, here's the Photoset.
  11. Thanks all for your comments, it's great to know that I'm on the right track. Since the overwhelming response is to mess things up a bit, here we go. YOU control the action! I've added a couple more pics to the photoset too. Oh, and check out my latest seige engine too! Catapult!
  12. Dune Sea... I lol'd. Nice. So Eastgate is right on the border then? That's the one thing I'd really like to see on a map, where the guild borders are. Anyway, nice job. Moving on to military matters, may I present my Seige Workshop. Capable of churning out small-scale ballistae, battering rams and sundry other weapons of war, it's located just north of Barga (and now south of Eastgate). EB topic /Photoset
  13. So it's basically a garage, but it builds seige weapons. I'm fairly happy with this. I hope I added enough details to make it more than a box, at least. Photoset for more pics.
  14. Breaking off the news of impending trades for a second, if I may. I'm pleased to report that our seige workshop has begun producing a new seige engine, the ballista: Although the workshop itself is still in the final stages of construction, we expect it to be finished in the coming days. EB Topic / Photoset -YtR
  15. Taking a break from my seige workshop, I built another little seige weapon. Bringing the rain, one massive metal arrow at a time. I got to use those tusks that've been sitting in a box unloved for ages too, so that's nice. And I know there should be a string or something, but I didn't have any to hand in the half-hour or so I spent building this. Maybe I'll find some and post it when I finish the workshop. More pics in the Photoset.
  16. TRAITOR! HANG the traitor! Or at least banish/exile him, ne'er to return on pain of pain! (In other news, my seige workshop is starting to take shape. It's an L-shape thus far. But I may add an upper storey, since otherwise it's a grey, L-shaped box.) -YtR
  17. Also, for what it's worth, the architecture isn't too big of an issue. Aside from out main cities, I think any style works. I guess since we're all from the four corners of the fantasy world in the melting pot of Kaliphlin, anything is good to go.
  18. Peace and happiness between all fellows is a nice concept, but I hear that there's a small seige workshop under construction in Barga... (/teaser. :P) -YtR
  19. You really are desperate to try and make yourself look as important as possible, aren't you... These map pics could just as well have gone into the main topic, stickied with the guild threads.
  20. I'm all for a seperate subforum too. Then we can have additional stickied threads for important documents such as maps, current challenges, and so on. Apparently we're not allowed them at the moment, since we're just sharing the historical forum.
  21. Massive want. But the fact that we get 1 L 2x3 red wedge and 1 R 2x3 green wedge frustrates me. Also, if you don't want those blue hinges, give 'em to me. I'll make use of them, lol.
  22. The Beacons of Gondor! Yeah, this is nice, but one thing that niggles me is how far the wooden posts stick out at opposite ends, if you see what I mean. Maybe reduce the length from a 1x1 barrel to 1 or 2 1x1 rounds. Also, why is a fish clipped to one of them, lol?
  23. I have an idea for a seige engine plus oil. I shall have my smiths tinker with it tomorrow. Or maybe I'll tinker with my spaceship. >.>
  24. Thanks all! Glad you all liked my touch of originality. And yes, it is both beer bottle and Spaceship. Before I disassemble it, I will take a picture of myself swooshing it.
  25. Thanks! And there's another round of click hinges in the middle-ish, just below the upper windows. There's also a larger version of the brackets/technic axles setup you can see from the top at the base.
