Ever wonder what a military version of the space shuttle would look like? I never did, until TR came up with a totally awesome contest. Then I thought fast, and came up with this little ship. I did a bit of research on the X-Plane series, but none of it really stuck, so I ended up going off my own imagination, plus the rather cool tail from the X-15, because apparently this shape is more stable at hypersonic speeds. But anyway... it fits a dude up front in moderate comfort, sports retractable lasers, spacial mines and a pair of nukes, safely hidden under heat-resistant panels, and it uses Solid Rocket Boosters and External Fuel Tanks to blast its way into space, just like its bigger, more friendly brother. (I'm not gonna ask you all to be super-critical on this, it was a fairly quick and leisurely one-day build that leapfrogged its way to the top of my build queue. Just enjoy it for what it is, a cool little fighter spacejet thing.) More pics in the photoset, as always. SPACE!

^As well it should, since it's directly inspired by a guy whose model was inspired by that. ;P Thanks guys, look out for the Mark 2 version of this, coming tomorrow or soonish.

It's SPACE, but browner than ever! To my recollection, this is the first time I've built a brown fig-scale spaceship, and the first time I've ever used the orangey-brown colour at all. I mean, I don't even know the actual name of it, despite having had some since that Designer dinosaur set many years ago. But anyway, I digress. You can probably tell that there's some TR inspiration going on here, because that guy is just too cool and I wanted to try his compact building style. But then I added my bizarre angular style, crazy internal structure, and ended up with this. I love it. Come to the NSC Leicester event, and I may even let you swoosh it. Also, there was some discussion on AFOL 16+ that there's not enough "tough love" constructive criticism anymore, not since CSF died. So I invite you all to rip this to shreds, should you be so inclined. But constructively. More pics in the Photoset, let me know what you like and what you think could be better.
  6. I built a spaceship. There's a shocker, huh? Something different next though, I promise. Well, promise is a strong word. Maybe, just maybe, it won't have wings. There. Satisfied? Photoset.
  7. Thanks guys, glad you like it! The finger hinges were unnecessary I agree, but since I rank them as up there with my favourite and most used parts, along with Travis bricks, why not throw them in?
  8. Oh, no way. This is so so so awesome. I... really want this to be true.
  9. Very quick build, only took about 2 hours. Nothing serious or complicated, I just had a sudden urge to build something using the aquasharks cockpit, which is a tremendous-looking piece as of itself. Photoset.
  10. Yep, there's some serious awesome in here. Sorry I couldn't pull something together.

Well, here we go, my largest model to date, clocking in at about 60 studs, minus the antenna. It's a big'un, and far tougher than I'd ever dared to dream. It survived the trip to and from AFOLCON, never mind the four days it was being manhandled and shown off. So if you couldn't get to Manchester to watch me pop assorted panels and bits off it while talking rather too fast about how long it took me to build it, have some pics instead. Photoset Enjoy.
  12. Thanks! NiceMarmot, you're best of just checking the stream of WIPs on my photostream. I've yet to get decent pics of it up yet. And yes, the knights definitely need better helmets.
  13. And suddenly... OSTRICH CAVALRY! It's been too long, folks. SPACE has had me occupied like you wouldn't believe. After AFOLCON, I'll try and muster up something for challenge #3. -YtR
  14. Right, I'm all signed up, and just before the deadline too! Look forward to seeing y'all there!
  15. This will never happen, but I'd be very glad to be proved wrong.

So, I managed to turn my militaryish cockpit/nose into something a little less grey. So I added black and a bit of dark red, which made it look, in my rather odd imagination, Russian. So I made it a MiG. Nothing massively complicated to this, it's mostly studs-up construction, at least until you get to the little bits underneath the intake vents. As you've probably noticed, I managed to use the big round Jedi Interceptor cockpit. It's only taken about 5 years. Yay. More pics in the photoset.
  18. I built some more Microscale. SPACE!
  19. It's SPACE, but smaller than my usual. Here we go, an excercise in using as many little tyres as I could. 76 of them, to be exact. And I still have some left! Well, there's more to this build than tyres. I wanted to do a flattened hexagonal shape like all the cool microspace builders do, and somewhere along the line I got the idea in my head to have a massive gravity-producing ring thing like that ship in BSG. All in all, I'm rather pleased with this. There are a few niggles, like my not having enough of the angled technic connecters in black, hence the use of tan and yellow in there too. Also, there's some weirdness going on near the cargo bays and just above. It's crazily fragile around there too, but for the most part the rest of the ship is quite solid, except on the axle near the back. But anyway, that's what I think. What do YOU think? Enjoy. Also, more pics in the photoset, you know the drill.
  20. ^Buzzkill. It's gonna cost me a fortune, but I want that Fury-class so much. I also find it interesting that the Sith Troopers look really awesome using the castle helmets, V-Wing pilot head and Vader torsos. Keep them like that, lego!

It's been a while since I used yellow. This started off as a UNSC-inspired grey spaceship, but then I got bored of dark bley and needed to add a secondary colour to make things a bit brighter. The cockpit was the first bit to get done, but there were a few hours when I was building out and backwards and I had no idea where I was going. Then I added the long slopes on the back and put the whole cockpit on an angle. So yeah, rather pleased with this. It looks a bit fat from the side, but I don't mind it so much. More pics in the Photoset.
  23. I wouldn't mind doing something on Avalonia soil... I seem to have a fair few dkgreendragon shields and torsos. Since I'm a spacer, "a fair few" is about 4. (Sorry I've been so quiet as of late, work has been hectic and I'm just coming home and wasting the evening away instead of building...) -YtR
  24. Actually, we're probably the most likeable guild, at the moment. And the King has forbidden warring between the guilds on pain of pain, so it's good news for us.
  25. Good news! Having recovered from my journey, I set about exploring. It is a very functional watchtower, fairly small but still capable of repulsing any attackers. It is also part of the ancient beacon system, and to this day there is always dry kindling to be used in case of an emergency. Manned by just one guard, it seems to be a lonely job with few visitors, aside from the infrequent griffin postal riders. I shall rest here a while, and then return to Petrea. -YtR Photoset / EB Topic
