75827 Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters Discussion

No, he was being Sarcastic. Scooby doo, the 'least popular' is in fact selling so fast that Lego cannot always keep up with demand, so goodness knows what this means for Ghostbusters... -
I think I might have got lucky on this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lego-train-shed-10027-/272039456531?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=XkVuIYa4V0td9iYIXTnj6nUIMEQ%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc Whilst it is missing a very few bits all the expensive parts seem to be present including the yellow sack barrow. I'll tack the rest on to my next bricklink order!

[help] 7866 How to repair red Leds and Flashing unit
Heppeng replied to Bloodwave's topic in LEGO Train Tech
They are all bulbs, or filament lamps, not diodes. The difference is both significant and important. If the original bulb is 40mA and if you replace it with 60mA you will alter the flash rate, as well as the brick running brighter and hotter which might not be good for the plastic. -

Don't worry, it took me a while to find it and it was even a topic I started! The fact that at no point in it was '7866' written did not help... I don't think I had a DVM or tester handy either. The replacement components are dirt cheap, so I figured if I replaced both transistors which are the components most likely to have gone pop, as well as a diode I thought was suspect I might get lucky, and I did, although in retrospect I think the original diode was OK. So there is a good chance that if you replace both transistors it will work, and if it does not you have not lost much. If you are really determined you could replace every component on the board, and providing your soldering skills are OK it really should work after that! -
[help] 7866 How to repair red Leds and Flashing unit

I also had issues with my flasher unit, pretty much in the same boat and Andromeda helped me greatly, without his help I might not have succeeded in fixing it. You might find this thread useful: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=85647 For the second part this may help: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=78641&hl=%2Blight+%2Bbrick However you will want to do a like for like replacement for the bulb rather than a diode since the flasher unit relies on its exact resistance to regulate the flashing rate. It might be worth getting a standard white 12V brick and swapping the bulb. -

Amazing, even Mr Stay Puft makes an appearance, albeit only just! -
Having a train remote spare I tried this and I must say it works rather well. Whilst I suspect not as good as a linear actuator, there is never the less a big improvement as you can now move the servo in small angles instead of the all or nothing left/straight/right. It is also far easier and cheaper to implement and you get the bonus of speed control as well.

Lego 7740 set, upgrading/repairing track options
Heppeng replied to beyondtool's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Wheels are easily available from bricklink, and I would expect the value of a complete motor is much more than the value of an incomplete one plus cost of a wheel: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp?P=bb12v2&ColorID=11 Transformers are not expensive either: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp?P=7864&ColorID=9 Although any 12V train set/model railway transformer would do the job. Extra conducting rails need not cost much: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp?P=3242&ColorID=9 Even if the cost was more than going for PF, I suspect the added value of a complete set would more than compensate. -
Best way to start in Lego Train with Steam theme

You could look at bricklinking Emerald Night in an alternative colour. I have always thought it would look good in the Black/Red DB colours. -
Pretty much an impulse buy, the Technic 42030 Volvo Loader. Always kind of wanted it but the price was a bit steep, until I saw it today at Smyths reduced by £40. I caved in!
-
Smyths are selling the Technic Volvo Loader 42030 reduced by £40 to £129.99. I could not resist!

Despite (or perhaps because of) being an avid BTTF fan I did not buy the first one as it just looked so ugly. This one captures the look far better so I would be much happier having this one sit on my shelf.

I am an Engineer now so I guess I would be a Blacksmith.

How do you dust between the studs on LEGO?

Anyone tried this? http://www.ldgadgets.com/mini-usb-gadget-keyboard-vacuum-cleaner/ -
Wow. This is a fantastic locomotive! You may not realise it, but the gear system you used for your articulated chassis was actually used on real life steam locomotives, the 'Luttermoller' axle: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lutterm%C3%B6ller_axle

I suspect it will be sold out on the first day!

I got my first OO/HO train set at age four and it survived. Got my first lego train at around the same time, can't quite remember if it was before or after it was a long time ago!

Cherry Stoner

Hmm, cherry season here has just started! -
Oh blast. I did try cutting and pasting the URL in to a new browser window to make sure that it came up as I saw it. I guess the site must have recognised me and used cookies or something to direct me back to the page. Lego are very poor at updating their pages. I see in the Market Street screenshot you posted that there are some other parts that are greyed out which I am pretty sure are still in production and must be available as spares. Mind you sometimes the cock ups work in your favour - not that long ago you could buy straight lego track sections for 5p each for a couple of weeks due to a pricing error. It was only after they were swamped with large numbers of huge orders that they did something about it, but not until quite a number had been shipped! Whilst this does make it a little more difficult to find the parts, what I tend to do is if I find an unavailable part, I go looking for it in bricklink and finding out the most recent set which used it. I then check that set at the lego shop, as that page is likely to be the most up to date. I think there are quite a number of older sets which have parts greyed out that you can in fact still buy.

And if you checked the link I showed you, you will get this: Taken just now, from the US site. It is available Today, but only if you search via the Winter Village 10235 set as shown in my link above which if followed as I explained will give you this screen from where you can buy it. It does show sold out if you search via Market street, which is presumably where you got your screen print from, rather than the link I showed you. However it is most certainly possible to buy from lego. for 72 cents right now - If there is any doubt left here is a screenshot of my basket to which I just added one: Just search for the 10235 Winter Village bricks, not the Market street as Lego have not updated that page.

Your expierence with fake lego clones products

Apologies, I may have misinterpreted. The green and cream coaches go well with the Emerald Night, but they are a bit tall and do have some flaws/idiosyncrasies, for example only using a pair of hinges with two studs each to hold half the roof and a whole side was never going to work well no matter how good the clutch power was. They were also a cross between a Santa Fe observation car and a European style Pullman which made them a bit odd. I bought four of them, initially to go with the EN but then decided to MOC my own Pullmans re-using the rather nice Enlighten printed windows. I do have a pile of Enlighten spares now! -
Not true; Here they are: https://service.lego.com/en-us/replacementparts#WhatBrickBuy/10235 You need to scroll down and click on 'more' as the dark blue items are on the next page, but they are shown as in stock, today, in the US, at 72 cents each, as they have been since I made that post around a year and a half ago...
-
Expensive? You do realise that lego is currently selling them for 72 cents each don't you? (or 55p in UK - see post 31) I always check bricklink prices against lego bricks and pieces, it is often cheaper to buy new from lego instead of bricklink. I ordered quite a number of bricks from mine new from lego because it was cheaper.

Really? so this: is not a copy of this: Whilst there are quite a few original Enlighten designs, there are many more that are copies of lego. And having bought a few it has to be said that whilst not quite up to lego standards, they are reasonable.
