  1. Mortimer stared down into the sea, shimmering red thanks to the setting sun. Stuck to the side of the dock was a torn, bloodied bit of bandage. "How should I know this?" replied the beggar, clearly getting impatient with the questions. "There's nothing here for you." "The Bonapartes don't exactly have good relations with the ship you're looking for. Or perhaps you just have the wrong ship."
  2. "No. Nothing in particular." The red splotch is, of course, blood. There's a long smear from the pier's edge leading up onto the stonework of the dock itself. It's all dried, however. "No, no fire. Sorry. I've been around for the past week or so and this dock's been deserted." Mortimer doesn't have any more luck than Torc. There are only a few scattered ships still up and about the gulf, and many more in the docks, but none of them appear to be the Magpie.
  3. The boxes and barrels contain various foodstuffs, including a lot of grain and other odds and ends. Nothing seems particularly valuable, but it's strange fare to just have laying out on a dock. Everything is haphazardly piled as if in a hurry. Something black and ashy comes off on Em's fingers as he pokes through it all. The stony-faced beggar looks up at Guts tiredly as he's plied with money. "A magpie? Maybe...mostly seagulls." "Lots of ships come through here. If you're looking for a ship that's not here it's probably gone by now..." Torc gets a running headstart off the dock and takes off into the air. After a few minutes she returns, having spotted no ship resembling the Magpie. "Ships come through, money changes hands, sailors curse, old men drink, businessmen get stoned, Bonapartes guard things. Usual...'fare'."
  4. The spring evening was warm and inviting to most of the citizens of Eubric. Chasing away the winter's cold, it was a welcome change to the frosty cold nights of the months prior. Without the weather to stop them, many ships were taking on bigger cargoes to get in a few precious journeys between the biting cold and the agonizing heat the ocean offered. One of these such voyages was the one this group of heroes was meant to protect. A voyage undertaken by a ship known to a few of them. A voyage that would alter the fortunes of more people than was expected. With luck, these heroes would be prepared to face it. The docks were about winding down the day. The responsible, early-morning sailors turned in for the night while the late-night drinkers and beggars were just stirring awake. One by one, the heroes made their way from the Hall or the Marketplace down to the docks, to the pier as described in yesterday's quest notice, yet upon arriving, found nothing of interest, just an empty dock. Paranoid heroes might see a lot of somewhat ordinary happening around the docks as suspicious. More relaxed heroes would perhaps assume the ship was only late. But as minutes rolled by, and the sun began to set, as minutes turned into what seemed like hours, only one thing was certain as hopes of a late arrival sank. The Magpie was not coming. What would the heroes do? Welcome to the quest, everyone. This is a bigger one, so I hope you're all prepared. Go ahead and poke around while everyone confirms. If I've missed anything in your stats, let me know, and if you bought things in the Marketplace just post up what you bought and how much it was. Since this is a longer quest and we need to make sure we don't stall, JimBee, if you could establish someone as a back-up party leader to help do battle orders or make decisions while you're not around that would help.
  5. Yeah. I'm hoping mine doesn't go too far over 3 or 4 months. Hard to say with this many heroes, though.
  6. Baltarok was just the warm-up to these fights.
  7. I don't need gods, I have dice.
  8. Quest #129 will be up in either a few hours or by latest tomorrow, I want to get a bigger buffer of set photos. It'll be a bit long and it will also be a killing spree based on the party, so come prepared.

  11. She's also the female fig in the rules page for Weather Mage.
  12. I promise it's fun.
  13. "Aye." Atramor pulled out his Decamon deck and removed a card without so much as glancing at it, setting it down on his tabletop. After a moment, a tiny Tweetybird materialized on top of it, twittering around Vindsval's head and chirping loudly. "And that's the smallest of 'em. Ya' shoulda' seen the Cloud Gigas..."
  14. "Came as close as I could. Got taken out by the...hell, what was it? Emerald Emperor? I dunno. I have distinct memories of seein' him bleed out on the floor of his own palace, so he can play his cards all damn day long. Still a bit surprised he got let go, but, well, a lot of...unexpected things happened on that particular quest." Atramor scratched his chin, shrugged, and took an even longer drink. "Ah well. That was a long time ago now."
  15. Nothing says 'bow to the king' like fur epaulets.
  16. "Aye, it was a pain to kill, but we did it. All it took was a buncha chemicals, some playin' cards, and a few knives." Atramor sipped from his bottle of rum. "Hell if I know what it was doin' there, but it's gone now. There's more on that farm than you'd expect, believe me."
  17. Atramor nods to Vindsval, and tosses the Chamelon Vest to the half giant. "Atramor Gibbin. Sure thing, but I dunno if I'm lookin' to sell it quite yet."
  18. "Aye. Had an even better one once, but it don't quite fit with this suit."
  19. Atramor tilts his hat to the half-elf. "It's goin', mate. Atramor Gibbin."
  20. Atramor can't help but chuckle a bit to himself as he enters the Hall, alone for once, taking up his usual seat and ordering, also as usual, a bottle of rum. It felt like he'd spent months out killing monsters, and it was nice to relax for at least a while before the next quest inevitably swept him up.
  21. Atramor drops by the Market briefly, selling his Silver Ores, Black Pearl, and a Grand Tonic for 210 gold and then, spending 300 gold to have the Aquamarine, Topaz, and Emerald in his Amulet transferred to his Galactic Armor. He then has Anwyl upgrade his Tiger Claws from weapon power fifteen to nineteen (160 + 170 + 180 + 190), uses his Grating Stone on the narrows blades of the claw, and while it's still hot, he has Anwyl Mythrilize the weapons. The pseudwarf takes the Mythril, 100 gold, and the Tiger Claws, setting the claws into a mold and leaving just enough room to pour in the liquid Mythril once he's melted it. Atramor watches Anwyl perform his magic, and takes the shimmering Mythril Claws with admiration, returning to the Hall though down to a measly 10 gold.
  22. Thanks a ton for hosting us Jimbee!! Atramor scarfed down the Level-Up Mushrooms (being careful to wash them down with his new, handy flask of rum) and tilted his hat towards his Old Mac and then his partymates. "I'll see ya'll at the hall, then." He had barely left through the gate when a familiar voice slipped into his mind. 'Found your glory yet?' Atramor wheeled around to see McCafferey perched on a fencepost. "There ya' are. Nearly missed ya'. Are ya' comin' or what?" The chicken's beady eyes bored into his thoughts as they often did. But there was less...inquisitiveness than there normally was. 'Not quite...I...must leave again.' Atramor blinked. McCafferey shuffled her wings. 'For the last time, I fear. The forces that brought me to you are near again. And they are less than pleased with my results. So I must go before they find me again.' There was a long pause. Atramor stared as if in disbelief. He couldn't tell if she was being matter-of-fact about the situation or was secretly disquieted. "So that's...it, then?" '...Yes. Indeed.' McCafferey stared with back and ground her talons against the fencepost she stood on. '...If it is of any consolation to you you are a monumental disappointment to what I had intended for you.' Atramor almost chuckled. "Well, that's....good to hear, I s'pose. Hard to figure after all this time, this is where ya' leave..." He scratched his chin briefly, then looked back up at his longtime companion quite seriously. "I get the impression you're not about to tell me anythin' about what are or what I was supposed to be." 'Quite correct. Perhaps you will hear of it later. But not from me.' "Then ya' have to answer just one thing, for me. For.....old times' sake." McCafferey blinked and remained silent. Atramor pressed on. "I came to Heroica for fortune and fame. I have enough of both, but I'm still around. So was that just your idea of tryin' to get me here?" 'Perhaps. Perhaps not. You were less reputable then...but know this,' she added, seeing Atramor's uncharacteristically conflicted expression. 'None of my influence has kept you here. I leave now....but you remain, and not because I wanted you to do so. There is obviously some role to fulfill here. Keep that in mind when you next question Heroica's - or your - capabilities.' McCafferey fixed him with a hard, final look, then took flight towards the setting sun over Uland. Atramor watched her leave, unsure of what to think for a long while. But eventually he just turned away, pulling his hat down a bit lower over his eyes as he returned to Eubric and Heroica Hall.
  23. Several of us got pretty busy near the end of Kint's quest and then Endgame vanished.
  24. Yeah. I mean, just look at the colors. Muddy brown and algae green....that's a water dragon if I've ever seen one.
