well, we don't see hayato anymore so he may be replaced by someone else. :-P will have to wait for the first play set of 2007 to see what changed. by that i mean the non-single-vehicular set. :-D another thing i noticed. ryo's mech kanji is still tiger. the same as uplink. the mechs numbers start from 10. this is odd....i thought it would make sense to have L2.01, AT2.01, A2.01 instead of L.10, AT.10, A.10. now those moc'ers will need to change the number series for their creations. :-P

i noticed something funny. all the robots are devastators. no more iron drones. and you notice something else too? the mechs have license plate. lol...wtf for? it's not like they need to register their vehicles... lol.

i dunno. i'm with sne. i think the subs are too high tech. it's kinda like exo-force underwater. though this was the expectation, i thought most people wanted something like the divers theme. to me, AR is kinda *meh* with a mix of *bleh* will have to see if the other sets are nice. the first wave of exo-force sets however are *hubba hubba*. looks like my top themes will remain my top themes! huzzah for exo-force. p.s. the battle is no longer in sentai mountain but over somewhere called the golden city. the fire boat looks ridiculous. why the heck do you need a fire boat for? -
Wow...we asked for hands and we got them. So I guess it's confirmed! The mfs we saw were the 2007s. The new mechs are better than the 2006s. I especially like the iron condor. Two thumbs up! What I find silly about the new line though are the shooting mechanism and the twirling shield/melee weapons. I'll probably have to remove the shooter from the sky guardian & iron condor and moc my own weapons. Wow...we asked for hands and we got them. So I guess it's confirmed! see...that's what i dislike about MB. the jointed elbows...yuck. look flimsy. and you cant customize mfs. and some designs look like something that lego moc'ers tried to make. i dont know about you, but i get puky when i see a modded lego minifig in brickshelf. to me, that's what a mb mf is like. i have come to like the square torso, square legs and round head that is the lego minifig. :-P how do you customize minifigs like these? and this looks like a playset and not a building toy. another view of the playset not building toy. :-P dont know how you can reuse the "wooden sticks" for anything else....they dont even come in standard shape or form. -
i was wondering why jinzo got only 1 vote and saw i only attached a headshot pic of his mech. hehe, so i fixed it....not sure if that will get him more vote. *sad* i wont be voting as i'm the organizer... :-P good luck all. wish i had put in a couple of polls too to find out how people have assigned points to each 3 categories. :-P would be nice to find out which got the most point for originality, fit and design. lol...oh well, i did shot myself in the foot for only having one poll. :-$

alrighty...it's now sept 11 and time to vote for the best sensei mech! we have: yoda's jinzo's LV's Exo-champ's SuvieD's and Dill the pill's if you want to see more go here. remember that you are voting for the mech only. minifigs do not count. they are merely there for visual aid for people to promote how their mech will look with a sensei wannabe. :-P voting is based on three equally weighted categories: originality, fit and design. all three will be explained below. originality - here's where you give points for new, unique, ingenius design. bricks or construction method which you think is the creator's own and not a rip-off of some lego instruction manual. fit - does the mech fit in the exo-force theme. is it something which the sensei would pilot himself? does it fit in with the role of the sensei? design - aesthetic points...do you absolutely just adore the mech? does it make you want to BL the parts just so you can make a model of it to put on your display mantle. all three categories will be awarded 10 points each. tally up the points for each mech, and vote for the mech with the most points. you can reveal your vote/points for each mech if you want to. voting will be done the american way, which is one person one vote. it doesnt matter how many points the mech get in the end, it's the vote that counts. voting will end in 1 week on sept 17th midnight (forum clock time). please vote by then. any question post here. good luck participants! :-D

this may actually be the first ucs set i am getting. unfortunately it will never be on sale since it is only carried by the lego stores or S@h. it's not even in tru. will have to see if i end up getting it. i never felt compelled to buy any ucs unlike this one. and your review just strengthened my gut feel. a pretty nice set to sit on the mantlepiece above your fireplace. :-P

oh...after reading more (i admit i just skimmed the thread for the most part) it's not a post about why legofans hate megablok fans but why lego fans hate megablok sets/bricks/products? ahhh...i feel so silly posting about empathy now...lol. i dont actually hate mb, i prefer lego for these reasons: 1. i grew up on lego, so i came to expect what a building toy should be like. lego minifigs are consistently the same shape and design barring a few special ones like chewbacca's head, or the latest exo-force robots, or the star wars droids. megablok mfs look crude, cannot be separated and the joints look loose. no, i dont like miniturized hasbro/mattel figurines, so naturally i dont like MB mfs. i like lego mfs because they look like caricatures of the real thing and being able to mix-and-match is a big part of what a building toy is all about. 2. lego for the most part use bricks and slopes to finish the model. that's my expectation of a building toy. MB uses large <insert that tiresome argument> parts to finish the model, even in pro-builder sets. it ceases to be a building toy and more a plastic finished model to me at that stage. lego has large <insert that tiresome argument> parts too, like the recent airplanes and the bulk airplane from the city airport. i dislike those and would never buy one. anyway back on topic, if i wanted a plastic finished model, i would either buy from mattel or hasbro. 3. lego keeps its value a lot better than MB. MB in the secondary market is worth 0. whether misb or not. this affects only the sets which i buy for myself since i can still get rid of them should my son not share my love of the sets. :-P but it meant i will buy expensive sets if i think the value would keep. on the other hand, i would never buy more than $10 of MB (should i actually find one that i like in the first place). 4. because of point 3, lego is more than just a toy. it can also be an investment. for eg, a well kept castle set will now sell for $800+ (dunamis knows this well....lol). a MB set is a toy and only that. it is effectively worth $0 the day you took it out of the toyshop...so would you spend $100 on a toy? on the other hand i would buy a $100 lego set if i think it will keep the $100 value (inflation adjusted lol). 5. i want my kid to learn to build, not learn to play. lego sets can be taken apart and build any way you want. a MB set can only be used for the purpose it was made for. for eg, the dragon sets have so many customized parts you cannot put it together any other way. for that it is more like playmobil and less like lego. and playmobil MFs are more consistent than MB mfs....i dunno what it is but MB mfs look like crap. not quite action figure, not quite figurines and not quite mfs. they look cruder than unfinished warhammer figures. that's my five reasons for not buying MB. :-D -

lack of participation is mostly due to time constraint...and a lack of "give a damn"...if only i care enough to go do it.... >:-) i'm not infuriated by mb fans nor mb products... why do they think lego fans hate them? nope, that question never occurred in my mind. so yeah, excuse my lack of empathy but i just dont care enough to go post. :-P i also doubt lego fans actually hate mb enough to go search the web for mb fan sites and post their msg of hate. lol.... -
i just got this set from tru this morning. i also just finished building it. and goddamn.... unless you already have an x-wing from previous sets, this set is a not-to-be-missed. you will certainly regret not getting the iconic flyer. and this comment is coming from a highly finicky, hard-to-please AFOL (i give most sets below 6/10...recall the recent 7706 mdt). i give it my 10/10 seal of approval. since my review is going to be rather short (i need time to play with my new spaceship!), i'll just put it here. overall, this is my favorite ship right now. excellent building...a little tedious (having to repeat 4 times for the wing designs) but the end product is well worth it. it suffers like any recent sets from oversizing, ie. the ship is larger than minifig size. i think the 7140 is a much better minifig size. i also like click-joints better than the screw mechanism to open the wings. overall, the ship is well designed, as accurate as you can get to an x-wing, legorized... minifig selection is great (especially since i have none of them before...lol). wedge is a slight letdown seeing how only the helmet is new. certainly something a great modder will be able to recreate. it's mainly new print over the standard rebel pilot helmet. the set is selling extremely well. top 2 in S@H and they are also moving in TRU like hotcakes fresh from a bakery. :-D just today, out of the 5 sets on display, 3 were sold at the same time i was purchasing mine....only 2 left by the time i left the shop.

nice. uplink sized titan. the visor seems too short. perhaps raise it a little. i dont think takeshi will want his hair blown off. :-P the shoulder looks weird. i would use a 6x2 side wedge piece to cover the joints and bulk it up a little. the double barrel rifle looks funny with the 2 neon green tubes underneath it. perhaps just simplify it to the normal uplink double barrel rifle. only those comments... good moc! *y*

wow...another great entry from exo-champ. i like the unique design of the mech, the swivel torso and the side cockpit profile. cant say i like the weapon much though.... looks like the male's organ. lol. could replace it with a double barrel laser rifle. :-P i like how you applied custom decals to make it look genuine. but it only has 3 stars? i think takeshi's mech has 4? so is he superior to sensei? :-P hehe, just teasing... anyway, another great entry. unique, original...and stands out among the bipeds entries we have so far. suvieD's looks like a body armor. again, nice touch going for a unique class instead of making a normal class mech. without a screen/visor, not sure how the sensei is going to see though. the wing tip looks like a horn....it reminds me of some villains in a power ranger show. wow...competition getting serious. :-) now that we have had a few entries...i think it's time to start setting guidelines for judging. the categories for the mech audience (since they will be voting... :-D) are originality, fit, and design. originality - here's where you give points for new, unique, ingenius design. bricks or construction method which you think is the creator's own and not a rip-off of some lego instruction manual. fit - does the mech fit in the exo-force theme. is it something which the sensei would pilot himself? does it fit in with the role of the sensei? design - aesthetic points...do you absolutely just adore the mech? does it make you want to BL the parts just so you can make a model of it to put on your display mantle. all three categories will be awarded 10 points each. tally up the points for each mech, and vote for the mech with the most points. you can reveal your vote/points for each mech if you want to. poll will be put up on monday.... note: sensei minifig will not be judged. i gave the option of creating a sensei for visual effect, for the benefit of those who may not own a sensei minifig. :-P again, you are just judging the mech. (p.s. i will also put all this info in the poll)
-
just like american cars :-P
-
that's a great entry, LV. i can see you recycled most of the parts from 7700. :-P if you put on some custom decals it would look almost genuine.
-
actually i think city is a good size theme. you can keep it small or you can make it grand. unlike star wars or mechs, you need to have an extremely large scale setting to fit everything you want in it.

is spongebob or avatar in demand in europe? if so i may invest in a few sets. :-P i personally have no inclination to buy any. but if the demand is there, i may consider ebaying or bl'ing a few sets to fund my hobby. :-D
