  1. i think i have gotten everything i wanted for this year except for sailbarge and vader's ucs tie. i dont think lego is short on supply...my local tru is stocked to the brim with lego sets. similarly target has lots in stock too.
  2. you're not only paying for the parts but also the intellectual property. if you want it cheaper, alternatively you can buy his instructions and source for the parts yourself. :-) just for the record, i'm not paid by baronsat nor am i commissioned by him or whatever, so i am only speaking for myself. i think his designs are unique and attractive and may be worth the extra premium. he is operating just like pre.classic-space.com in selling proprietary models. i mean if people are willing to pay for customized lego mfs, why not for unique creations?
  3. new ucs at-st from the tru sale! :-P wasn't going to buy it but it was on sale, and it is star wars!
  4. i got arkham and at-st. :-P
  5. well... in the states, the DA line was a total failure. lego stores sold them for 30-50% off. same with target. not sure why tru is still carrying them though. and while vladek's dark fortress was sold out in almost every store including lego, target is still carrying them. weird! are they officially out of stock yet or not? :-P
  6. i think he was refering to the thicker chin strap. it's still part of the older helmets but the earliest helmets come with thin chip strap, then the thick chin strap and finally the modern helmet with visor.
  7. if you look closely at the design you will notice it is quite easy to moc a fourth leg, so no worries here. sucks to have to buy more set for mocing though...but on the other hand you get more shooters for brikwar games! it's actually quite fun. you can pretend that it's a high energy, desperation move. one shot one kill. works well too since the range is rather short and limit its usage to either lucky shot or close range annihilation.
  8. i dunno if lego is able to build model cars with the right curves. the ferraris currently on sale arent that attractive to me. way too blocky and the stickers made it look even uglier.
  9. i dont notice any size difference during my weekly visits. :-/
  10. i like it. it is large and grand. as for suggestion, i myself like a smaller but more detailed town, where buildings have more decorative parts (what space fans known as greeblies). i think a few folks were discussing this point in the skyscraper thread. if you are a fan of large cities, i think it is fine as it is. perhaps varying the architecture will make it more interesting (ie change the building design, not just the color).
  11. i have only myself to blame. when i started collecting lego in march, i saw 7283 still available from TRU but at the time $50 seems a little too much to pay for a toy (i bought the $15 7700 stealth hunter then). and the week after, it was gone. :-/ 2005 seems like a bad year...everything sw sold too quickly. i only have a few epi 3 sw and i missed out on 4504 and 7264. grrrr. definitely going to make sure that doesnt happen with 2006 sets. :-P only sailbarge and darth vader's tie to go. :-P
  12. argh! sell me one of them 7264! >:-( :-D
  13. holy cow...this set was available late october 2005 and was sold out by early march 2006. that's just crazy!
  14. ...at www.toysrus.com. not sure if available in stores as well. that's 25% off or $20 without having to drive to the stores since it comes with free shipping. not sure if it is a glinch or just an indication that batman sets stunk. :-P at first target went from $89.99 to $68.99 for the batcave, and now TRU with a $20 dc for arkham? hehehehe... :-P
  15. i store most of mine built. it's mostly because i am lazy to disassemble and re-assemble again. it's easy to just pop open the lid and can pull out the model with very minor assembly required. storage is no issue at all. just put them in the basement. sunlight hardly penetrates at all. as for lighting, you can always get the philips lightbulb. i use daylight white so it's actually brighter in the basement than in the family room. :-P
  16. i have always liked mechas. don't know why really. mechwarriors, battletech, gundam, you name it and chances are i will like it. other than that, i also like rpgs, which is mostly castle-related in lego terms. i would seriously like to collect and build armies of different race factions like humans, orcs, undeads, just like world of warcraft! hopefully lego will come up with something in this line! ;-) for orcs, or taurens, i already own about 20-25 viking helmets. just needed the right head and torso. :-P and the viking fortress is just perfect for creating a typical orcish or tauren village/fortress.
  17. i think you misread my comments. i hated lom's aliens. i like the ufo series' aliens tho, especially that predator helmet. *y* i like to see the return of the helmet but with better prints than the ufo version and maybe a custom alien hairpiece that looks just like kit fisto. :-P made of rubber of course! just like the EF hairpieces... :-D
  18. i dont think the alien concept is that bad. they just need to make better aliens than the ones from lom. those suck so bad. i think we can all agree if they make a kit fisto lookalike alien everyone including the target 7-12 yo kids would be absolutely thrilled. i would immediately start a 3 way faction collection. EF robots vs humans vs aliens. this will be my starcraft lego extreme theme! wohooo....
  19. we need a bat-marine (submarine) and a bat-rocket (space ship) and a bat-digger (mining vehicle). :-D
  20. saw this model in target too. there were 4 special edition sets: the building crane, wl vs bw, this and some bionicle crap. all models were priced at $50.
  21. Batman 7785 arkham Star Wars 7283 ultimate space battle (most likely not possible :'-( ) 10175 DV TF 6210 sailbarge completed vikings, exoforce wishlist.
  22. bought 7713 today from target. the box said special edition at the top right corner, so definitely wont find it on sale any time soon (and since it's not available from TRU...definitely no b2g1). that closes my 2006 EF collection. skipping SV and SP - not impress with the models. :-P sets still to go: 6210 sailbarge, 10175 DV TF. got all the viking sets too except for ofnir armored dragon set. probably skipping. :-P got all batman except for arkham. probably wait for sale. :-P btw, target dropped batcave down to $68.99 again. those interested go grab them before they run out!
  23. the box art hid a lot of the ugly details. for eg, the sky guardian has some technic plate protruding out of its arms. the sword looks cheap vs the box art which seemed to imply that it might be a light up inaka sword. but the actual set photo showed the sword as the cheap part that it is. no light up. the blade titan looks like a skeletal figure of click joints. not much armor compared to the 2006 version. the cyclone defender has white plates instead of light grey which i thought blend in better with the dark green than white was. the shadow crawler's accent was shown as trans-green in the box art and instead became lime-green in the actual set which looks absolutely horrible. only the claw crusher and the iron condor actually look anything like the box art. that's why i think they were disappointing.
  24. i absolutely hate this round of new pictures. >:-( it's because they are so much better than the exo force ones. :'-( :'-( i agree....this new wave is much better than the first wave and absolutely lovely and definitely going to be hits with AFOLs. too bad the new round of exo force pictures totally changed my view of the line. looked terrible. let's hope it's all due to bad photography... :-P
  25. yeah...it's a nice magazine. i like the castle.
