that's odd. there are lots of a-wings in stores all over the us.

i share snefroe1's thoughts as well. it gets kinda boring after a while. there is never really a definition of good or bad since space/futuristic theme is basically freehold. you can just about come up with any design or any shape and it will still look cool.

Those "Blocko" Bionicle bootlegs, finally on eBay.

it's interesting how their fantasy sets have orcs and skeletons minifigs :-D -
All other new 2007 sets (including new theme)
natelite replied to sam89's topic in General LEGO Discussion
there's another alternative explanation to this. TLG is run by a million monkeys with a million typewriters. :-D -
that's just the suggested retail price. if woolies is anything like kb toys, they usually mark up the set by another 10-20%. TRU routinely adds another 10-20% on popular sets as well. for eg, 7259 arc-170 is now selling for $49.99, a 20% markup from srp.

To mod or not to mod (not for squeamish readers!)
natelite replied to Brickthus's topic in General LEGO Discussion
i think painting is fine. :-P tlc sometimes for unknown reasons will not make parts in that color, so what are we suppose to do? for eg, the silent strike is made up of dark blue and medium blue pieces. it just plain sucks. if i can mod, i would paint the medium blue pieces to dark blue for better consistency. as long as the paint is done professionally, i really have no problem with painting. for eg, would any of you have an issue with the chrome gold c3p0? it's done so well, you can hardly tell it is non-lego. :-P if you can't get the right paint color and don't own an airbrush, then i would say no!!! :-) but if you have steady hands and does an excellent job at painting...go for it! -
looks like it is hot in demand. i just visited the tru in times square ny. only one left on sale at $49.99. once that is sold i bet the price will start to go up. arc-170 is already selling at $49.99 (up from msrp of $39.99). crazy! i'm going to visit my local tru (since ny taxes are higher :-P) and buy one just in case. geoffrey's sale is coming up soon... maybe will buy more then. it looks like an extremely hot set once it is discontinued.

you are one heck of a towner and a serious inspiration to all. i dont think there are that many dedicated lego fans as you. how do you find the space? it seems you kept everything on the kitchen floor or something. :-P

this is so sad. we extended the contest for 2 weeks and still no entries. :-( 6 more days people. please hurry!

Photo Review: 4499577 Viking Chess Set
natelite replied to Starwars4J's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
if anyone found out how to remove the glue safely please post a tutorial. i have quite a few magnet MFs to correct. ;-) i will have to wait for a lego store sale since the chess sets aren't sold elsewhere. darn it. if anyone went to the bridgewater lego store and saw it was on sale please post in the bst forum! thanks. i have to drive a fair distance to the store so i can't check on it every week. :-P -
So, modern military lego is out of the picture...
natelite replied to Zarkan's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
i am with starwars4j...any war is out of the question even extremely historic ones. even for george washington it can spell trouble...already we have a small group saying that GW was a slave owner and for his portrait to be removed from the $1 bill. as for new themes, i like for there to be a medieval fantasy theme. one with lots of diverse characters like archers/rangers (ie forestmen), barbarians (ie wolfmen), wizards, sorcerors, jesters, merchants, blacksmiths, alchemists, necomancers, priests, clerics, etc. i can see TLC making progress because KK2 s1/2 only has knights and only knights with swords. now they have progressed to knights with other weapons. hopefully we will see more characters going forward. it's kinda stupid right now that the theme only has knights... in fact, they should bring back the chainmails, leather armors, and other assortments of armory and weaponry. i dont know why the retired the old chainmail printed torsos and the leather armor torsos and came up with the current junk. -
i thought abdomen and thorax is just ways to distinguish segments of the body. torso is a combo of the two. for humans it's the whole thrunk. only in ants do you have separate segments for the abdomen and the thorax. anyway, i got two of these on sale for $3 from sears. :-P i like the red sunnies head. but the heli doesnt have the swoosh factor. my son didnt play much with it after it was completed. so compared to the ambulance and the fire engine it's kinda a let down. for the price though it's great!
-
hehe i raided the nearby sears stores which were selling the battle wagon 8874 and the seige tower 8875 at $6 each. i got like 9 boxes. got a couple of droid fighter 7252 at $8 each on the side too...cheap as they are now sold out in S@H, so the price is already inflated.
-
you can pre-order from tru us. delivery from sept 25. i dont think the set will be sold elsewhere. it's not labeled exclusive but it is being sold exclusively by s@h and tru.
-
you need clearer pictures. i can't see anything. :'-(

i can attest to that. shipping from us to europe can run from $20 and above. just check the rates from www.usps.com. shipping from europe to us is a lot cheaper. i once ordered from BL and the shipping (ground) from europe was almost the same as priority for US local. unless you are buying a rare item, i think shipping cost will probably make it slightly more expensive than buying local. us has some crazy shipping rates. i wanted to ship lego to my niece in toronto (i live near new york, fyi)...so i thought it would be cheaper if i buy locally and ship to canada myself. turns out, it is actually cheaper to buy the inflated canadian lego set and ship locally in canada. it cost me $18+ to just ship parcel (cheapest option) to toronto...less than 8 hours drive from nyc...while it cost like $7 to ship to california which has to be by flight. :-/ doesn't make sense now does it?
-
what is interesting is that i got a mixture of new and old bricks in the same set, 8877. some of the 1x4 dark grey bricks had hollow centers and others had solid centers. and like you said they dont align properly. i even dented one of the studs because i was pushing them too hard. not sure which one got busted. will check when i get home.

are we falling into a dark age again?
natelite replied to snefroe's topic in General LEGO Discussion
oh, i'm sure women are more complex than that...it was just my attempt at humor. ;-) [/politically correct statement] if you want to expand the list and poke humor in the process please feel free! i could enjoy a good laugh... :-D :-P p.s. if anyone is interested in how i came up with the four types/quadrants, it's basically an analysis of control and self/group serving. total control, self serving = overpriced rubbish beoyatch. total control, group serving = disciplinarian. shared control, self serving = malibu barbie. shared control, group serving = girl next door. :-P p.p.s. can i get my title changed to "beoyatch analyst"? :-P -
are we falling into a dark age again?
natelite replied to snefroe's topic in General LEGO Discussion
it's normal for someone who came back from the "dark ages". your first year you are trying to catch up on however many years you have not kept in the loop. so naturally any information is welcome and actually fuels your desire further. once you catched up with all there is to know you will start to slow down. if you confuse this slow down with loss of desire, then another dark age will develop. i think people need to understand that growth can't perpetuate forever. it's nice to always be stuck in a 20%-30% high growth phase but it is not possible. if you are bored, do something else for 6 months and when you come back in 6 months there will be a ton of information which you need to catch up on...providing you a heady rush which you so desired. -
are we falling into a dark age again?
natelite replied to snefroe's topic in General LEGO Discussion
i think age is not a factor. there are women who will shun lego even at 28-30. i think apart from age we can classify them in different categories. there's the classy female beoyatch who is into overpriced rubbish, gucci and other branded stuff. to her, you are either sugar daddy or an accessory depending on how rich she is. if you are ever caught with lego, say bye bye. then there's the strict disciplinarian type who will insist on replacing your mother in the role of the alpha female. you will have to get her permission even to pee. don't even think about buying a lego egg timer without her written approval letter. if you thrive in a sado-maso environment, then she is just right for you. there's also the clueless, pink loving, poodle hugging malibu barbie. to her, she doesn't know the difference between lego and playdo. so doesn't matter what you do she wouldn't mind as long as you gave her enough to spend on weekly spa trip and manicure/pedicure. be prepared to spend a lot of money to keep her happy and occupied if you want to play lego. then there's the girl next door types who love seeing a grown man play lego with kids and take an interest or build a hobby with the kids. she may even join in the fun or make sandwiches or do the housework while you "spend time with the kids" (yeah right...)... if you enjoy playing lego with kids and well into your 40s, then find this kind!!! is my analysis accurate? :-D -
i also have a stressful job. but i spend the weekend instead (or friday night) building and playing with my boy over the weekend.
-
and how about...NO :-P That question was so simple, it sticks with your current title, obvious isn't it :-D *yoda* you are so mean... :'-(
-
maybe it's time i get a new title "batman genius" instead of captain obvious. :-P
-
simple, killer croc. never heard of him until batman lego.
