  1. i got the nitro set too. in addition ialso bot the wlvsbw EF set and mindstorm for 50% off. :-P that's $125 for mindstorm! wohooo... i was a few days late though for the after xmas sales...so i missed out on the rest of the lego sets that were on sale. :-(
  2. correction. does not need to evolve. sharks too. for a lego theme though i think it is okay since toys deal mostly with fantasy or imagination anyway. and cartoons and tvs have always shown men with dinos all the time. the theme though will stink. what you have are a bunch of normal minifig (since cavemen at best will have beard, no helmet or other accessories), with clubs and spears and some huge brick monsters. do kids want to be cavemen? no...kids want to be spacemen kicking alien butts, or mech pilots kicking robot butts, or medieval knights kicking skeleton butts, or aquanauts kicking big sea monster butts. but yeah...no cavemen for kids. :-P so we have space, water, future fantasy, medieval fantasy. what else can we have? :-P if you can think of a new setting, you can send your idea to TLG for a new theme! *HINT* past themes also included ground, ice, jungle. :-P just gotta think of the villains. robots, aliens, skeletons and big giant sea monsters have been taken. ;-)
  3. it's a great moc for a japanese temple or castle.
  4. if people know they can always get the sets later, they will never sell. lego is a toy, not food where you don't mind getting the same thing again and again and again. toys generally last a long time. if TLG only makes 20 sets, what will happen once the market becomes saturated with the 20 sets? tlg will run out of business. and tlg can't keep every single set in production. that will require the maintenance of thousands and thousands of brick molds, box prints and storage space. not doable. best to recycle themes and create new sets. and have release old popular sets once in a while as legends. :-P
  5. the house is great. was thinking of getting the jan 2007 new house but this looks even better. :-P
  6. doesn't look that bad. have to see the sets though....may just get it. some of the mech units look decent. so does the pelican dropship lookalike. not sure what the martians look like. seems to be green sw droids.
  7. that is one sweet pimped out ride that hayato has! too bad for the poor cockpit design. but otherwise that thing is pretty sweet. i also like how TLG is creating smaller vehicles (see the large tank...it has robot flyers all over the place). and ryo has gone back to orange jumpsuit. that mech is great too! orange and white...nice combo. the only set that looks odd is the second one. mediocre machine, unimpressive building. only thing of interest would the the 4 golden katanas. even the mf is odd. it's not even hikaru. looks like a genki but with dark blue suit. edit: and ryo's new ride isn't a rehash either. if you look closely enough, you'll see that the thing has claws on the forearms. kinda like the wolverine of mechs. only downside i can see is the cockpit construction. it's basically like SG and BT without the side cover. pretty crappy.
  8. the droid arms seem to be like the new castle's skeletons'
  9. it doesnt seem like the skeleton horses can wear the normal horse's armor/helmet. though you can make them meaner by inserting the viking's horn piece into the eye sockets. *sweet* :'-)
  10. NOOOOOOO!!!! oh well, let's hope TLG does the right thing and make a tumbler (that's the name of the vehicle for batman begins...me thinks).
  11. now that the 5 sets are out, i dont see any weird new swords. perhaps it was the scythe's blade? but i fail to see how a minifig can hold it since it has a hole to plug into the rod. does this mean plumes are going to be more expensive on BL now? none of the helmets come with plumes...and they just don't look right somehow. dont get me wrong, i'm a fan of skellies...but somehow the new ones look odd. just look at the black one found on set 7091. the legs are so short and stubby compared to the new arms. it just looks out of proportion...even by lego minifig standards. i thought the proportion is 1:1 for most mf. edit: actually i just saw the new sword, found in set 7094. it's the same as the scythe's blade. figured out how it attaches to the pole. :-P
  12. well, looks like the kettle helmet. i could be wrong though. :-/
  13. alright! Kit fisto!!! looks like TLG is listening to the F-A-N-S! 2 new batman sets? wonder what more batman vehicles they were going to make. Can you describe the vehicles? airborne or land based? edit: saw your other post. bat tank and batcopter? seriously... ?!?! what was tlg thinking? what is a bat tank for? the bat mobile isn't a tank enough for you? they had to make a less mobile vehicle? the baddies are going to wait while you drive the 5mph thing? if the "tank" was actually the bat mobile from batman begins, then yeah...that thing rocks. otherwise, bleh. batcopter - uh...i much rather have a bat hover/glider like the green goblin's. batcopter isn't that much of an improvement over batwing.
  14. oh dear...he got me. :-P it's not like i was giving out my ssn or c/c ...why bother phishing in EB? are you really THAT bored, kid?
  15. AWESOME X-O X-O X-O :'-) :'-) :'-)
  16. well, let me just assert that i will never post news elsewhere except here in EB, just in case someone else decides to forge my id. :-P (not like that will happen as i never had any exclusive info anyway... ) :-P
  17. yeah, dragon is hedious. but that aside...i see a POINTY VISOR! great!!!!
  18. i like to see more mech warrior types, sort of like the alt model of grand titan. i think EF's mechs are a little too large. if they only isolated mechs to a few key individuals, they could have made the forces out of ordinary vehicles. of course, then the little kids would complain that EF is not mecha. the way i see it, a squadron or even battalion should have 1 or 2 mech at most, with lots of armor suited foot soldiers on APV type vehicles and recon vehicles. lots of jet aerial vehicles for support, ie heli gunships or fighter airplanes. as it is right now, if EF were a castle theme it would almost be like an entire army made up of cavalry and carriage units. definitely out of whack. my ideal EF theme would be lots of army builders comprised of foot soldiers and of mechs no higher than 2 minifigs (like many of the armored suit models in BS). mechs of the size of cyclone defender should be like 1 or 2 in a battalion and mechs of the size of blade titan should be like 1 or 2 in the entire garrison. with that scale in mind, it would be easy to make BT out of like 600-700 bricks/parts instead of the current scrawny looking mech. and it would allow multiple purchase of the same sets (army building) from the smaller mechs and foot soldiers. if the theme still mainly remain stick figure mechs, i may have to move to better themes. i'll probably keep star wars as this fits in with my preference really well (lots of foot soldiers supported by well designed vehicles and machines), and maybe start collecting castle or space. heard that the new rumored castle theme is going to be fantastic in terms of army building. :-P will have to see how space pans out...
  19. magnet only affects ferrous metals and composites. not sure why ppl link magnesium with magnet. :-/ sorry, just geek talk. :-P
  20. did you see anything else on sale? what's the special on the calendar for the remaining of dec...and did you get an early calendar for jan/feb?
  21. i think all of them have their uses, except for the dragon and bat helmets. those are buttright ugly and have no historical accuracy. i really like the kettle...but i voted for scorpion as it is easy to blend into an army and is visually stunning and accurate. most helmets were designed to protect as much of the head as possible, ie eye cutouts are favored over a middle nose piece (which actually detracts from a proper human vision).
  22. well, jinroush hinted that it will have the bad features of life on mars, such as the tubes.
  23. i dont know about space marines, but i heard the new space theme revolves around martians again. :-P
  24. well, the broad swords seem to be in pearl-grey and the helmets in new silver (like the chief fireman's hat). one thing i notice about the skeleton horse is that the legs may be easily broken. they are much thinner than the regular horse's legs. the skeleton's arms are similar to SW's droid's arm, although it seems they may be able to hold things straight instead of at a 90 degree angle (gangsta style). dont think the wrist will turn like regular minifig's. edit: i think the shield at the foot of the skeleton tower belongs to the evil faction. looks more like the one that the black skeleton horseman is weilding instead of the human knight's. so, the thing at the foot of the tower seems to be a weapon cache.
  25. yup...i saw that too. could be this? http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=430697 my two cents on this new theme: great improvement. definitely going to be a hit. nice color scheme: dark blue and bley. nice large brim helmet. the crown faction castle looks nice, but definitely has a lot of large parts. the two front towers were made from 2 tone (grey and green) "stone" bricks. i see a knight (far background on the bridge) with the old pointy visor of old. we also see a return of the grill helmets (worn by the 4 horsemen). the skeleton carriage is fantastic! would have love to see a lich king but i can settle for a necromancer too. so what if they recycle ogel's head...it still fits the role! the new skeleton's blade looks funny. it seems too large (see the skeleton on the bridge). i think a scimitar is much better. like the one used by the trans-clear prototype. definitely looking forward to summer 2007!!! cant wait to see all the 5 sets! p.s. is that a second prisoner located at the foot of the skeleton tower? i can make out the kite shield with the shield emblem, but cant really see who or what is holding it.
