  1. See the slugs, they have a power mi hombre! One must be careful lest they step in their slimy trail!
  2. This reminds me of this one time in Guadalajara my cousin Manny and I arranged a snail fight, couldn’t afford chickens, and we started with 22 snails. Manny was making a margarita and he might’ve spilt some salt in the ring, long story short we were left with 11 unhappy snails. The fire in their eyes I know they wanted revenge! I’m no dirty detective but I suggest we all check each other in case one of us is a slug in disguise.
  3. As someone who grew up with the prequels I absolutely love them, but I also realize they aren't perfect. Theres a lot of issues to them but I think the Phantom Menace especially doesn't deserve the flak it gets. Jar Jar is awful but the rest isn't really that bad. I have so many happy positive memories attached to seeing the PT in the theaters as a kid, I'm very forgiving of their flaws. Revenge of the Sith is a much better movie then Return of the Jedi, i'm sorry I said it. Return of the Jedi arguably should be the strongest movie of the franchise but it screwed up by having teddy bears wipe out the Empire's elite soldiers and by wrapping up the battle the way it did. The super star destroyer blowing up was ridiculous. How does a star fighter blow up the shield generator ball, the most crucial part of what the shield would be protecting? The most irritating part is the amazing epic lightsaber fight and space battle kept getting interrupted for scenes of logs crushing AT-ST's that somehow managed to walk in the right spot, or stormtroopers being hit with rocks. I can bear through the Jar Jar moments because his stupidity doesn't harm my view of the most iconic bad guys as the ewoks do. That being said I don't hate any of the SW movies, I just think RotJ is at the bottom of my preferred ones. If Return of the Jedi is your favorite then that is awesome, it's just cool we all share a love of SW here even if it's in different parts of the franchise. I think that's what we need to remember, love or hate any of the films at least we're all fans of the same universe which is really cool!
  4. I don't wish to complain considering the plethora of new molds but I was sort of hoping we were going to get new rebel blaster molds. We desperately need more variety in our blasters. Thank the maker we're getting pearl silver and gunmetal variations, but still. If we just got either an Imperial mold and a Rebel mold then that would be gold. I'm really worried Lego is going to introduce new Stormies. I bought a bunch of the Imperial Battlepack so I feel I have an updated imperial army. If they come out with one with new torso and waist printing gahhhh
  5. The problem with the prequel trilogy isn't that we knew what was going to happen at the end of the PT, I've never found that a strong argument. You can know what is going to happen in a story and still adore the story, whenever you rematch a movie or reread a book that's exactly what you're doing. Abe Lincoln still gets shot in the end but Lincoln is still an amazing movie. No the reason the PT fails is that a prequel by nature relies on the strength of the way the story is told and that is the weakest aspect of the PT. The story the PT is telling is a great one, one I personally find it more interesting and compelling then the OT, however the way it's told is not the best and that's the fault of the writers and George Lucas. The biggest qualm I have is I don't think the prequel trilogy has a good point of view character. I read or watched something a while ago that talked about how the PT should have always been from the PoV of Obi Wan and not Anakain. George Lucas set it up that way with the Phantom Menace and Qui Gon dying but then for some reason in Attack of the Clones it swaps to Anakain. The prequels in a way are really a story about how the downfall of the Jedi Order and how they've lost their way having grown complacent in their power. When you look at the way the Jedi act in the films, they're not good guys. Yoda and Obi-Wan are good but the order itself is not. Think about the Clone Wars. The clone troopers are the ultimate symbol of the Jedi Order's change. They're basically a slave army that the Jedi willingly accept in order to fight a war, that is sort've messed up to begin with. Here's the thing, the separatists aren't evil. They're not the Empire. They're corporations and societies that no longer wish to be apart of the corruption of the Republic. Sure the Republic has a right to fight and bring them back into their control, but what right do the jedi have to intervene? Because of politics. The Jedi Order is not a religious order but a political body that receives it's power from the Republic.
  6. Hahaha fantastic! Now that I would consider buying!
  7. You have managed to capture the room perfectly. You can tell immediately that it's full of the same character that it's android inhabitant has. I love all the references to different Data episodes. If only TLG would do a one off or two set series based off of Star Trek, seeing your wonderful creations makes me realize it can be done!
  8. The armor of the Death Star Trooper looks extraordinarily similar to the uniform Jyn Erso was wearing at the end of the teaser.
  9. I couldn't be happier with the surge of so many Star Trek Mocs recently! You hit the nail on the head this looks exactly like the Galor! I don't think at this scale it's even possible to get it more accurate!
  10. @thelastchronicler You put it very well, and your right politics for politics sake is not good. While it is not the aspect of SW I enjoy when it's overdone, I prefer it being more mystical like the White Walkers in Game of Thrones, I can respect that side of it completely. @Jammiedodger In regards to the Empire I completely agree. They should've lasted a while longer. In terms of the Vong you are absolutely correct. Actually what's interesting about the old EU is that you can actually look at Palpatine and not only see what he did as a power grab but an attempt to also save the human race. So basically what happened, although you might already know this, is the Chiss were the first to encounter a Vong scout force. A young Thrawn in fact participated in one of the first battles against them. Then Thawn got involved with this whole Outbound Flight business and eventually Palpatine found out as well. Both Palpatine and Thrawn realized how grave a threat these "Outsiders" really were, which is partly why Palpatine attempted to cement Imperial rule on the galaxy. I think the belief was to pool all the galaxy's resources into a unified, Imperial, militarization in order to defeat the massive Yuzzan Vong invasion that was pretty imminent. While the Empire is still horrible and Palpatine is evil, it puts an interesting twist on the whole EU including the motivations of Palpatine beyond just power lust.
  11. In regards to Thrawn. If they do bring him back for season 3 and we get a mini figure (which is my complete nerd dream right now) will they give him a tan uniform? It should be since as far as we know he's the only Black actor in the rebel crew for the movie.
  12. Arabian Kniiiiiighhhtsss! Honestly I agree with 2maxwell, the Arabian Knight is rather lackluster.
  13. don't worry. with the new sets already out the Rogue Leak is the only news we have for Lego right now, they'll be all over the internet soon.
  14. Director Krennic has the right pants! However his torso design feels awkward considering it's very different then Yularen's. There's only one black flap line, they made the other light gray. He's not going to fit in with the current officer corps as easily.
  15. So do we know if the pricing is still the same?
  16. The only sets that interest me now are AT-ST, Imperial Tank, and the U-Wing. The Imperial Tank is pretty great considering the price point. The AT-ST is a bit wonky but the head is far better. I'm willing to build my own legs to improve it. Tie Striker is easily the best model but I have no interest. U-Wing is the coolest design of all of them. Finally an epic Rebel Dropship! That Imperial shuttle is ugly as all heck. Not a fan of the all Black. Minifigures are pretty great but the rebels are all kinda generic still. I'm a little annoyed the alien I like is in the shuttle and not the U-Wing, oh well a new mold is always welcome! We have to get battle packs though, those Imperial designs and molds are too good to waste on just this wave. I have a sinking feeling the BP's for the Imperials will be one of each of the new designs. 1X Death trooper 1X Shore Trooper 1X Tank Trooper, 1 X Death Star Trooper
  17. Jumping on the vote hmmmm. Interesting
  18. Wow the base looks awesome! Your A-Wing is excellently done and in many ways I prefer yours to the recent TLG model!
  19. I have a lot of problems though with the whole Good vs Evil thing. it immediately takes the character drama out of the story because suddenly everyone's actions are either good or bad and dictated towards furthering one side of the force's agenda. That's fine for personal character development but not for world building galactic stuff. Otherwise it becomes a matter of evil controls the galaxy then good then evil then good. Not very interesting stuff. Besides the Emperor holding together the Empire by the power of the dark side does not make any sense. In ANH they finally dismantled the senate because they were switching to regional governors plus the Death Star was complete and operational. That means the Empire could only function as a whole through the bureaucracy of the senate as there were no other options. That means 18 years of needing the senate to maintain order. The difference between Sauron and the Emperor is that the armies and minions of Sauron were really just an extension of himself meanwhile the Emperor relied on people who were autonomous beings to get things done. Look like it or not the PT made the empire a political entity and made SW in part a political drama. When you look at the rebellion in the OT there are a lot of politics going on as well. Honestly the grayness of politics is something this universe needed when so often it becomes a matter of black and white.
  20. Guys as much as I would love to indulge myself in defending PT and TFA, this is not the thread to do it. There is a Star Wars thread in the Culture and Media forum however if you want to take this outside :P I had a thought last night where the death troopers were metallic dark grey instead of black. That woildnt make sense though since the designs are actuall black. Is Metallic Black a thing?
  21. Wow that is pretty epic! Love the TOR designs and it's such an underrepresented part of SW in lego that any TOR Moc is welcome. Especially when the MOC is as excellent as this one!
  22. There's actually two rule 11s right now
  23. Dr Who is pretty big in the US but not like Walking Dead. However these ridiculously long breaks between seasons doesn't help to bring it into the mainstream focus. I think if your into nerdy stuff in the US, then you have almost certainly watch Dr Who or at least know what it is. The problem here is that you need cable to get BBC America so it's really a show you can't necessarily watch easily if you're poor here. Fortunately my family made enough to have cable so going back to the last season of Tennant I could watch it but I also used to invite all my friends over whose families couldn't afford it, so they could be able to watch and keep up with new episodes. Accessibility and frequency are certainly a problem. However Dimensions seems to be applying lots of odd brands like Ghostbusters and Back to the Future. I wonder if we'll ever see a TRON pack? That'd be cool and fit nicely into the concept of the game.
