  1. Did the officer print change? It seems off slightly on the Imperial Batthe pack or am I going crazy?
  2. So Finn and Rose's storyline is perhaps the most heavily criticised aspect of the movie. I personally enjoy that whole storyline because it does one thing Star Wars typically doesn't do, protagonists failing. Failure not due to external forces but by the very choices the characters make. At every turn Finn and Rose make choices that sink them further into danger. The show Rebels often presents similar storylines but with the exception that it's characters ultimately succeed. These incredulous successes happen far too frequently on that show and the new canon expanded universe, much to my frustration, so much so I will follow any major story line that ends in its main characters failing. As for their storyline accomplishing anything, well that depends. We get the first post prequel glance at the galaxy's military industrial complex, we get a cool new planet that's allegiance to the Corporate sector will probably tie into the Solo movie, we got a new unpredictable player in DJ, and more then anything if you care about the characters at all we got a ton of character development for Finn and Rose. If you think about it, this storyline aacomplishes as much if not slightly more then Han Solo and Leia's storyline in the Empire Strikes Back. Half of that was hiding in an asteroid field and a space slug, a scene I'm certain is at least as long as most of the Canto Bight scenes. Important to note the importance and beauty of the Empire Strikes Back is that no one accomplishes any of their goals only barely achieving survival at the end. It's essentially a character development movie. Can we also talk about how this is the first time the bad guys quickly captured intruders. I salute you First Order Security Bureau Failure is the theme of this movie however it's Rose that has the epiphany and vocalizes that true victory comes from saving what you love.
  3. Is there any chance of a new mafia game starting up in the near future?
  4. Are there any instructions for the new Tie Fighter and/or interceptor? How sturdy are they? They're absolutely gorgeous. Some of the best i've ever seen in Lego form.
  5. Considering the special forces tie micro fighter comes with a regular pilot, I wouldn't get my hopes up.
  6. Yessssssssss it's complete! Sorry, I've been waiting for this for a while. It's absolutely gorgeous! Is there anyway it's structurally secure enough for a physical model?
  7. The higher res leak pic of the X-Wing looks pretty good. As someone who loves the design but not enough to ever own a model, this maybe what changes my mind.
  8. Actually that is more then old news but infactual at that. Mark has since contextualized what he said. Mark Hammil Sets the Record Straight on the Last Jedi "“That’s the hard part. You don’t want to admit how possessive you’ve become. There are times where you go, ‘Really? That’s what they think of Luke? I’m not only in disagreement – I’m insulted.’ But that’s the process and you thrash it all out." "SHOUT-OUT to @rianjohnson for no particular reason other than being my friend, collaborator & guru. You quelled my fears, listened to my endless stream of terrible ideas & occasionally used a few here & there. #GenialGenius#ThanksFromAGr8fulPadawan" Haters, and that's not aimed at you Schneed, have been warping his words and comments he made much earlier in the process rather then his current thoughts.
  9. @Renegade Clone Absolutely brilliant! Ever since i've bought Battlefront II i've been trying to figure out how to do a purist version of my favorite character in the new canon: Shriv! Who also makes me realize the Duro deserved a molded head piece. I was thinking maybe this torso... ...with arms that matched the color of the orange waffle pattern and a brown Indiana Jones style saddle bag, then... Han Solo's Legs. And of course the most important part, a Duro head. If someone has all the pieces would it be possible to make a mock up of that? If it looks good I might buy the pieces to do it.
  10. So do we know how DJ will be available in the US?
  11. I'm shocked at how expensive the Crait Speeder is. Would have much preferred a set of just the speeder, Poe and the Resistance soldiers for forty as opposed to a set nearing ninety. Yikes. Not the place to complain about price, there's a thread on price discussion (that I created to boot), but there's something seriously wrong with TLG's price points. The cheapest non battle pack Last Jedi sets are Ach To and the Heavy Scout (which doesnt even show up in the movie), everything else is over $50, with at least four sets pushing $100 and a fifth close to. Absurdity of the highest caliber.
  12. Wow thats quite spot onto what I remember of the vehicle, quite cool looking and almost to scale to boot. Congrats also for probably being the first person to post a MOC of this online.
  13. I want to preface this that I studied film making and scriptwriting in university and its my career, that doesn't mean I know better or i'm smarter then other people at all, it simply means the lens in which I watch films is different because of my education. The point of me writing this is to give those who may hate the film some insight on why someone who is trained in this field loves this movie. I speak for myself and myself alone. ~ So i've re-watched the Force Awakens and on the same day went to view the Last Jedi a second time now. I remember how the Force Awakens mystified me the first viewing before I started to see its cracks that were exposed entirely after a second viewing, so I stayed open to the possibility that the Last Jedi on a second go round is not as good as I thought. Nope. I realized how incredible a movie the Last Jedi really is, and how awful and clumsily written the Force Awakens seems in direct comparison. People complain that Rian Johnson screwed up what JJ set up, which he actually didnt (JJ never had a story beyond TFA just loose ends for the next director), but The Force Awakens is so simplistic Rian had to shake a lot of things up to keep the trilogy from being a rehash of the OT, which is is really what JJ set up. I remember understanding the whole story of the Force Awakens, all the symbolism, all the stuff in the background in two viewings, and thats not good writing or film making in the Star Wars tradition. When I go and re-watch A New Hope I still notice new things all the time from visuals to story that I somehow missed even after a thousand viewings, thats incredible film making, not so with TFA. I'm still trying to figure out everything about the Last Jedi and I think it may take years and ultimately I think the Last Jedi will be vindicated just as The Force Awakens has diminished in popularity over the last two years. ~ Rian Johnson has created perhaps the most complex Star Wars movie ever with The Last Jedi, which is filled with incredible depth and beautiful writing throughout. The acting is massively improved with Deisy Ridley and Carrie Fisher allowed to show more personality and Mark Hammil delivering one of his best performances. John William's score is phenomenal. Go listen to it (especially the Canto Bight part), every theme from the Force Awakens (a film unjustly maligned for its score) is brought back with new vigor and woven perfectly into Johnson's story and the new tracks are vividly distinct. The script is one of the most solid and succinct i've seen in a film in a long time with every part of the film serving a purpose to either move the story forward or to distinctly develop or indicate a character's...well character. That's the first thing you learn in script writing, every part of a script needs to matter, superfluous junk serves to destroy the flow of a film. Superfluous scenes are one of the fundamental flaws of the prequels (and two dimensional writing yowza). ~ EDIT: After writing this I came across an article that I entirely agree with, especially in terms of what Rian Johnson had to work with what JJ left him. The Force Belongs to Us: The Last Jedi's Beautiful Refocusing of Star Wars
  14. Clearly it doesnt work except in certain situations considering no one ever uses the strategy in the other movies. You know what could be perceived as pretty dumb, an A-Wing crashing into the bridge of an SSD and bringing it down, or logs crushing an AT-ST, or tow cables bringing down machines of war (why didnt the Imperials just stop walking?), two proton torpedoes taking out a small moon sized space station, or... The point is these plot devices are explained in the lore after the fact and originally exist simply because they look cool and logical reason. Books explain the SSD's engines were taken out prior to the A-Wing kamikaze ontop of the Death Star's gravitational pull and Rogue One explains the Death Star's single design flaw. This isnt new, its just we're spoiled with thirty years worth of explanations, theorizing, and official explanations.
  15. 1. I'm going to see the movie again today, we'll see. 2. They say so repeatedly throughout both the Last Jedi and the Force Awakens and Kylo constantly displays it. Kylo massacres an entire village of men and women and children without hesitation. How do you catch something as offhand as Ach To but entirely miss this? 3. What do you want? What do you actually want? A new plot line? Because if you want new plots and not rehashes and you aren't writing then how you can be upset a writer created a new storyline with a new plot device? Thats how this works. 4. Its new tech like I said you either buy it or you don't. It also makes sense some one would develop it when thats the entire Rebel Alliance's strategy plus its on the largest ship so we can infer its not common tech. 5. The entire First Order strategy was to force the Rebels to hyperspace jump once more so they were out of fuel and the FO fleet could jump in and pick them off. The Resistance instead flees after they figure out the FO's plan. The FO chases them down knowing they have the Resistance trapped one way or another so didnt need to send a Star Destroyer in front of them. As always, arrogance, caused the FO to lose. Plus we don't know if anyone can hyperspace within star systems, only between so who knows. 6. You're over simplifying Luke and Kylo, I'm off to the theatre so i'll respond to this later tonight because it also applies to @BrickG 7. She threw him a lightsaber, hardly saving him when he did most of the work. 8. The entire point of arrogance in the Star Wars universe, is its tunnel vision. 9. The vacuum would've sucked the flames out so as long as she wasnt at the front of the bridge, don't remember, then she would've survived no problem. That's going to take till the Blu Ray to clarify. 50,000 people who are wrong don't make you right. I already explained to you what the difference is between a grievance and a plot. As for Mark Hamill has had his words twisted and chopped up ever since opening night. https://www.cinemablend.com/news/1671010/what-mark-hamill-really-meant-when-he-criticized-luke-skywalkers-direction
  16. I for one love the Last Jedi and don't understand the hate for it. Its in no way a bad film. That doesnt mean people can't legitimately dislike the film, or objectively critique it and this statement isnt aimed at anyone here. However I believe films should be viewed more then once and digested, thought over, and supposed problems considered. Often i've noticed people will miss story points the first or second times around and fault the movie exponentially when they're the ones who missed it. I've done it, we've all done it. All I can say is most every so called plot hole i've read is set up or covered in the film, and from what I can tell the screenplay is fairly solid. The immediate slew of backlash represents a reaction, not discourse motivated by critical thinking. I think very much in the way everyone loved the Force Awakens initially and then as everyone started to think about it they found they disliked it, I think the reverse will be true for the Last Jedi. That doesnt mean I don't have problems with the film or find certain elements were'nt developed enough. My Main Problems or things I think were missed opportunities: 1. The world building in the Last Jedi is awful and its trash. I know what's happening and I wrote a short essay on the state of the galaxy from numerous canon sources, but what's going in the galaxy? Two minutes of exposition is all we needed and a more specific opening crawl. 2. We don't get any classic OT alien species then Mon Calamari and Sullustan. 3. If they were going to kill Snoke off I wish we had gotten a little bit more exposition about him. 4. I wish Admiral Ackbar did the suicide ram rather then Holdo. She was a cool character who should've survived to episode 9 and Ackbar could've done with a better send off. I love the massive casualty list of the film but I wish some survived so we have something to grasp onto. 5. Would've been cooler for BB8 to have a big duel with the evil BB8 alongside Captain Phasma and Finn's duel rather then the silly AT-ST rampage, although that was quite enjoyable. 6. I wish Canto Bight had been developed more, I liked what we got but it could've been made more three dimensional. 7. Lack of Snap Wexly. Where is snappers? 8. Knights of Ren are likely the Praetorian Guard but are they? Would've liked to have known more. 9. Didn't love the ending, only for the stupid looking alien they used for the slaver, the kids were fine. I think the idea is that Ben was so immersed in the Dark Side, to the point Anakain was towards the end of the Revenge of the Sith, that Luke knew if he didnt act the Jedi may go extinct again. As he said it was a momentary flash that he immediately suppressed.
  17. Does Jemison have back printing?
  18. Those aren't plotholes just grievances you have, theres a difference. A plot hole is a problem with continuity of storytelling, a grievance or the like is a personal issue with choices made in how a story is told or what is in the story. One is objective while the other is prefferential. 1. We never know why Luke went to Ach To, only varied speculaton by other characters. However it's heavily implied he went there because of his failings as a master and the shame of losing a whole generation of Jedi. That's set up pretty clearly in the Force Awakens. 2. What in the good heavens of bias are you on about? He never hated his family and in the Last Jedi they show his remorse at having lost Han and his disconnect from Leia. Ben Solo is in his late twenties in that flashback, not a kid. Ben was clearly unremorseful and as dark as Anakain was when he killed children so of course Luke had a momentary lapse of instinct that he also quickly surpressed. 3. Of course fuel is a thing, it always has been. If cold fusion or unlimited energy was a thing do you think the Death Star would be such an impressive or substantial feat? Fuel has always been in the background of the films and in the lore and canon. 4. Finn mentions how incredibly fast Snoke's Star Destroyer is traveling implying the Resistance ships are capable of even greater speeds. 5. So? It's the future, what's so wrong about new tech? 6. It's a trilogy, just wait. Also Luke ain't even close to being a child killer as mentioned in point 2. 7. She got her butt handed to her by the praetorian guards. Its clear that if she had to fight anyone there by herself she would've been screwed. 8. That whole scene was pretty well thought out and set up. Snoke's arrogance and Kylo thinking of only his actions and not his intended target was a brilliant twist. 9. Leia's force potential has not only been demonstrated in both new canon and EU but also spoken of in the Return of the Jedi. I love Ackbar but a jedi he is not. Luke didn't go to Ach To until several years before the Force Awakens so theres a good twenty years he could've taught a certain amount of tricks to Leia.
  19. They did in the EU it's called the Galaxy Gun. The Raddus is a 3 km long ship and only inflicted partial damage to several ships it's size, crippling most and outright destroying only a couple. The inference, given the Resistance didn't use smaller ships in this manner, is that they wouldnt do any damage in this manner and in an industrialized war you wouldn't dare sacrifice the big ships like this when they are strategically far more important to the war otherwise as fueling points, fighter carriers, and mobile command bases and orbiting planetary occupiers. Capital ships are extremely valuable in the star wars universe. The First Order fleet was also tightly packed, the ftl ram wouldn't be effective on a more loose formation as we usually see Star Destroyers. So why would you sacrifice a flagship to take out one star destroyer the enemy can produce more of with greater ease then you can replace your lost ship? The Resistance can't wage war without ships like the Raddus. It was a matter of good timing, poor enemy formation, and Admiral Holdo knowing the ship was lost anyways.
  20. Plotholes such as?
  21. Can we all raise a toast to that glorious son of a fish? To Ackbar! 50 BBY - 34 ABY
  22. For the first time i'm actually irritated and frustrated at TLJ. $40 for an incomplete set? Shameful, absolutely and utterly shameful.
  23. The First Orderr AT-ST is a joke. It better be cheaper then the R1 version. How can you sell an incomplete set? Especially when there was plenty of material in TLJ to make a set.
  24. The Last Jedi is so incredible. Its going to receive a lot of hate from a cohort of fans but its a refreshing breath of air and I think exactly what we needed. Going in I was predicting TLJ was just going to set the stage for a third movie that would follow the lines of a supersized Return of the Jedi. Nope, TLJ defied all expectations.
  25. I hope so otherwise that's a ridiculous set. Curiously the legs while similar to the Rogue One AT-ST appear to be more accurate and in line with the leg design for the actual AT-ST model. Perhaps we'll actually have a better shaped AT-ST?
