Thanks! I saw it in an ebay auction tonight, mixed in with set 560 (including box). No takers so far, if anyone's interested https://www.ebay.com/itm/304456737039

^Jangbricks has been referring to it as something new. It's apparently going to be in one of the new Farm (City) sets as well. Anyone know what set this minifig is from?

I've read that modern artist Piet Mondrian was for years an inspiration for Lego (someone even mentioned him a day or two ago on this forum), or perhaps Neoplasticism generally. Squares and rectangles and primary colors and so on. I had always assumed until a few years ago that the colors were just chosen because they were the ones the company assumed would most appeal to children, and the shapes were just the most obvious choice for building structures. But now I'm curious about the story behind this. Does anyone know if there's something available in English, maybe a simple article, or an art student needed a graduate school thesis/dissertation and their research included something on this.

41379 Heartlake City Restaurant Got it on sale at Walmart yesterday. Really enjoyable build. I haven't owned a full-blow restaurant since like 2006ish, soon after I exited my first dark age and bought a 6376 Breezeway Cafe on ebay; unfortunately I ended up reselling it not too long afterwards. I don't usually buy sets from the Friends theme or use their version of figures, but I really like the structure and other elements here. For my own taste/preferences this is also a great set when it comes to color palette, being bright and colorful without being what I'd consider garish. If there's still one available the next time I go out I might buy it and combine them.

I liked Educated. Not a happy reading experience, but a good one. Unfortunately my reading time has fallen off a cliff the last two months I'm currently reading Brick by Brick for the second time. I wish I could read books like this from other periods of Lego's history.

That looks great, definitely remember this from yesteryear -
I've been trying to get into Black Sails, but it's been kind of slow going. There are lots of reasons for me to like it: Pirates, sunny locale, action/adventure storytelling, and I like the characters when they're on the screen. Yet when an episode is over I feel no pull to watch another one. I've heard people say that if you make it through the first season you'll enjoy things, so I guess I have about 3 episodes left before I test that. I also bought the old Bruce Campbell tv show Jack of All Trades on dvd from Amazon. Didn't know if the show would hold up as schlocky fun 20 years later, but I watched an episode on youtube and still enjoyed it.

Is it just me: EB has become the Dragon's Den?
Paradosis replied to Toastie's topic in Forum Information and Help
Oops, I had found the default banner difficult to see with and had switched it to something else using the pulldown menu at the bottom of the page, so what I see wouldn't be relevant here, sorry about that! -

Lego themes that we would like to happen
Paradosis replied to YellowCorvette's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Now that Lego have a thing with Nintendo I doubt this would happen, but I'd love it if they did some kind of line with Sony and their game developers. I'd be most interested in something related to Horizon Zero Dawn (preferably more than just "robot dinosaurs"), but other games like Uncharted, The Last of Us, and God of War would also make for some awesome adventure-oriented sets, along with games that would provide a very different feel (and could target a very different demographic) like the Spyro franchise.- 451 replies

Corona - What piratical things are you doing during this time
Paradosis replied to Piraten's topic in LEGO Pirates
I already had a Clipper and Fortress, but yeah I agree they're major stuff to be missing and I'll get replacements off bricklink sooner rather than later! The Clipper sails though... I'm not sure if I'm gonna bite the bullet and actually buy vintage ones, or just get/make modern reproductions for considerably less. -

I ordered Pirates of Barracuda Bay 3 weeks ago, but my order status is still "Waiting for new stock," so who knows when it'll come. Until then I've been able to scratch the Pirate itch with some sets that were in two largish ebay purchases I made. A lot of the stuff I found in them was Town, with a few Space and most of a large Castle thrown in, but there was also a mostly complete Eldorado Fortress (minus a tree, a canon and a few minifigs), a Lagoon Lock-up (minus tree and sail), and part of a Caribbean Clipper (minus sails, middle mast bit, and minifigs). Up next is probably a Pirate-themed roller coaster. I bought several of the Creator Pirate roller coasters at Walmart last year when they were on sale, and I've bought some straight track pieces since then with an eye towards having design flexibility and making a larger one, but I still need to get another large gray baseplate before I can start. -
[MOC] 21310 Old Fishing Store Alternate - Old Trading Ship
Paradosis replied to Samarth's topic in Pirate MOCs
Fwiw, I imagine there are many people like me, who like MOCs that they see, but don't say anything if they don't have something specific they want to comment on or ask about. I guess I should be a little more vocal to let people know when I like thing though! -

I really like this; I dig the symmetry, color palette, flow of the vines and the pops of color. Was there a reason for not having plant growth on the wall sections?- 14 replies

Picked up a few small things at Walmart today. 43170 Moana's Ocean Adventure surprised me. I'm not at all a Disney or animation fan, and if you just look at the piece count (46) the $10 USD price tag sounds outrageous. But now that I've got it home and put together, I think it compares well to the other sets at around that price point.
