  1. Very nice! Thanks for sharing
  2. While my wife may be a bit older than Lego's target audience when it comes to girl's items, she did recently make some comments on this subject that I can share. She basically said that she didn't like sets with conflict at it's center, but just wanted to build models like buildings and such. She would be happy if things were "girly," but that didn't necessarily mean the colors had to be pink and purple. She has expressed interest in sets like the the creator houses, Cafe Corner, Green Grocer, Taj Mahal, and Medieval Marketplace. Again, this is from the perspective of an older girl (27), but I just thought I'd add the post fwiw.
  3. I'm one of the (at this point) 8 people who voted for no more fantasy stuff. Just not my cup of tea.
  4. Thanks for the review, I love looking at the older Lego sets, though I dislike this particular set. I don't mean to offend anyone that likes this set, but to me it looks like a MOC I might have put together when I was 7 or 8... it just looks like two hull pieces slapped together, with a strange color scheme. Maybe I'm just missing wjat makes this set special and it's my loss, I dunno.
  5. I voted Mtron, though Futuron came in a close second.
  6. Just watched Night of the Living Dead 3D (2006) for the first time the other night. I follow the guy who wrote the screenplay of it on Youtube, and it was on my Comcast On Demand thing, so I figured I might as well give it a shot. Not very good, but I've seen much, much worse.
  7. Diamond Head - White Album And I'd second the bit about the new Mastodon album. It's the second best new album I've heard this year (only trailing Gabriel by Believer)
  8. I gotta go with the BSB... hopefully that's more than just nostalgia talking!
  9. Thanks for the review... it's my favorite of the small Pirate sets!
  10. My favorite villain would be the evil force in the Evil Dead trilogy. I guess you could argue that this consitutes more than just one villain, since the force can possess multiple people/things at one time; but it's not the possessed people/things that I am thinking of, it is rather the singular force behind the possessions (maybe it'd also help to identify the force as being the entity that chases Ash through the woods, asks Ash to join the evil side, etc.).
  11. From the moment I first read it, I've always liked the quote that I have in my signature. Some might say that it's too pessimistic, but I think that there's a lot of truth to what Stephen was saying. It's may be a bit serious for a forum like this (which focuses on something meant to be a lot of fun)... but then again there's nothing wrong with a little seriousness every once in a while.
  12. Thanks for the link, though I have to admit that it doesn't look like a movie that I'd really like. I love zombie films, but something about that one just seems off to me. And that's coming from a guy who likes movies with names like Redneck Zombies! Maybe I'm not drawn to it because I'm not a big fan of Woody Harrelson, I dunno, though the form of comedy shown didn't really appeal to me either.
  13. The laughing was funny, and overall I thought it was enjoyable (I especially liked the sound effects). Thanks for sharing
  14. I'd like to see something kinda like this... Such a set would have something akin to Eldorado Fortress as a base, and also have a small dock and some soldiers quarters/offices.
  15. Well, as far as I understand it, the purpose of the comic book was to give some back story for the characters in the early sets. I think 99% of Pirate fans take at least some of the info that Lego provided and use it. We use certain names of characters and sets* that Lego gave us, for instance. I am not someone who would go so far as to say that this info is set in stone, but on the other hand I'd have a hard time just giving Gov. Broadside a new name, or calling the Black Seas Barracuda something different. I guess I fall somewhere in the middle: I find the info that Lego gave us (e.g. in this comic) to be interesting, though I don't view it as something that requires that we view things a certain way. *Though the names can change from region to region.
  16. I recently read the 1989 Pirate comic book The Golden Medallion for the first time, and I was suprised to find certain things in there. Some of the more interesting parts: - The Imperial Soldiers seem rather incompetent (pp. 6, 25) - Lieutenant de Martinet will exaggerate things, to the point of lying (p. 18) - Governor Broadside seems more concerned with his crystal than with the safety of his niece (p. 25) As a fan of the Imperial Soldiers (my favorite Pirates faction), I hardly enjoyed this portrayal of them. Which got me to thinking, supposing you've read it, how much stock do you all put in this comic book? Do you consider the information found in the comic to be set in stone, as it were? Or do you pick and choose what to use and what to discard?
  17. I don't absolutely, positively, definitely, totally hate fleshies... but I don't like 'em that much either So I had to vote for the good old yellows.
  18. I voted for the French.
  19. I'm sure I'm not alone in keeping files with information about various sets (e.g. sets I want to buy). But what website do you use to get your information? I've found that different websites can have different and conflicting information, so the choice does make a difference. To give an example, both Peeron and Lugnet list Harbor Sentry (6245), Pirate Mini Figures (6251), Shipwreck Island (6260), and Sabre Island (6265) as being released in the year 1990. However, Brickset has no Pirate sets listed for 1990, and lists these four sets under 1989. I happen to use the Lugnet information, which isn't to put down Brickset or even say that one is right and the other is wrong, that's just the site that I use for various reasons. What about you?
  20. I finally saw The Dark Knight the other day, after hearing so much about it for so long.
  21. Another option, from the Lego Castle wallpapers section of Lego.com... (though if you click on that image at the site, it brings up a larger picture)
  22. I don't know. According to Brickipedia, the new Disney subthemes will be Cars, Prince of Persia, and Toy Story. However, even though I have two small kids, I must admit that I've not seen any of those films, so I don't know what to suggest as far as sets go.
  23. Mastodon - Shadows That Move
