    LEGO TATTOO!

A Lego tattoo. Huh. Of all the tattoo ideas I've tried to come up with, I never even thought of that. I have three tattoos so far--a Russian Orthodox cross, a COC Skull, and a memorial tattoo for my deceased wife. But a Lego tattoo... maybe one of a Pirate captain... or an old school Castle fig... you all have me thinking... this could be dangerous...
  2. I don't recall what the first set that I got was. It was probably some small set from a local department store. The first set I remember getting, though, was 6074 Black Falcon's Fortress, which I got for Christmas from my Grandmother sometime around 1988/1989... Then the next year for Christmas I got 6085 Black Monarch's Castle...
  3. Mastodon - The Czar
  4. The 300 Spartans The original one, not the remake.
  5. Loving the Dragon Castle aspect of the sets!
  6. I'm getting ready for Christmas this year and need a little extra money, so I'm selling off some of my Lego. All sets come with instructions, though none of the sets have their boxes/containers. Shipping Cost will be whatever the actual cost is for shipping, plus the amount for the packaging that the set is sent in. I am shipping from Pennsylvania, United States. I have no problem shipping outside the U.S., though the cost might make it not worth it, that's up to you. If you want something, just post what you want in this thread and I'll message you information for payment. 6243 Brickbeard's Bounty - All pieces present - $55 + Shipping Cost 7036 Dwarves Mine - All pieces present except for one red gem and one technic pin 1/2 - $30 + Shipping Cost 6279 Skull Island - All pieces present - $25 + Shipping Cost 4856 Doc Ock's Hideout - Missing about a dozen pieces and all minifigs, sold "as is" - $25 + Shipping Cost 4996 Beach House - All pieces present - $15 + Shipping Cost 7621 Indiana Jones and the Lost Tomb - All pieces present - $10 + Shipping Cost 4955 Big Rig - Missing about two dozen pieces, sold "as is" - $10 + Shipping Cost 4994 Fierce Creatures - All pieces present - $6 + Shipping Cost 4939 Cool Cars - Missing one 1x1 yellow plate - $5 + Shipping Cost Three sets sold together: 4918 Mini Flyers - All pieces present 4837 Mini Trains - All pieces present 4915 Mini Construction - All pieces present - $7 + Shipping Cost If there are any questions, feel free to ask.
  7. I took a few months off from Lego to deal with some personal issues, the most significant of which was seperating from my wife, my wife/kids moving out, and my moving into a new place. Thankfully it's been a fairly peaceful process, at least as far as seperations/divorces go, with the major issue being that my family now lives 50 miles away from me. After a couple months I reached the point where I was ready to move on, at least in certain areas of my life. So a week or two ago I decided to get back into Lego again, and started following some online forums again. The problem is, I'm only half way into it, and I feel like I'm heading for a grey age. I recently sold a musical instrument I wasn't using, and I had a couple hundred extra dollars to spend today. So I stopped by the Toys R Us expecting to buy some Lego (yeah, I know they had a sale recently, but I didn't have the money until after the sale was over). I expected to buy the Kings Castle Siege and Brickbeard's Bounty. I know the Castle Siege is an older set, but the last time I was in TRU they still had multiple sets on the shelves, so I figured they'd still have it. Well, they had a spot for the Castle Siege, but no sets on the shelves, so I couldn't get that one. Also, once it came down to it, I was having a difficult time with the idea of paying $110 for a 592 piece Pirate ship. I've paid more to get less before on eBay, but for some reason I just couldn't pull the trigger today. I also had little-to-no interest in any of the other sets TRU had (and my TRU has a fairly large selection). So I left the store empty handed. I guess at this point I'm going to transfer some money to paypal and keep an eye on eBay... but I'm worried. What if I am indeed going into a grey age? Right now I need hobbies in my life to keep my mind occupied. What can I do to keep out of that situation where you pull back from the hobby for a few months--or longer? What has worked for you over the years? Any thoughts?
  8. Manowar FTW? "If you do not like Lego, you are not my friend!"
  9. I'd prefer Classic Pirates over POTC. However, I would have voted for "Classic Pirates Like in 1989" if that would have been an option
  10. I'm watching an episode of Bones that was on cable a few weeks ago that I DVR'd. Well, I'm not watching it so much as letting it play for background noise. I've really been getting into that show over the last little while, and I'm glad that new episodes are coming out now.
  11. Hmm, I'm gonna have to vote no on the idea of Lego Star Trek sets. I'm actually a pretty big fan of certain Trek series. I grew up watching ST:TNG, and also ST:DS9 (one of my favorite TV shows ever). I can also watch TOS and Voyager from time to time without the urge to turn it off. And I've even tried my hand at a few Trek MOC's over the years. But for reasons that others have already stated, I don't think ST would do well in the Lego universe. It's just not a good match.
  12. This is crazy. *shakes head* Ok, I don't want to overstate things, but this is definitely a suprise. I haven't been around here for a couple months, because I've been dealing with some serious personal issues (divorce, moving, etc.). I come back, hoping to get back into Lego after some time off and take my mind off some problems. And one of the first things I find out about is that they're going to discontinue Pirates for a while. I'll admit that I wasn't absolutely in love with the 2009 Pirates sets, they seemed overpriced for what you got. But I thought they were a good first step, and looked forward to what might follow. One of my favorite themes back before my dark ages was Pirates, and I really liked the possibilities of following a Pirates line now that I am an adult and have much more money/freedom. And now it looks like that's not going to happen. Not with consistent, yearly/bi-yearly releases, anyway. Like others have said, I really have no interest in following a theme where I'm buying a half dozen sets, waiting 5 years, buying another half dozen sets, waiting another 5 years, etc.
  13. I don't know what language it was originally published in, but Peeron/Picsl has a version of it in English.
  14. I'll go with Captain Redbeard
  15. I voted no, as I'm pretty satisfied with what Lego has given us. Arrr
  16. I saw that, but I was wondering, wouldn't all the details get covered up when you put frosting on the cake?
  17. Believer - Stoned
  18. R.I.P. :( I enjoyed him in the show "Pitchmen".
  19. Nice! But what's the sceptic faces () for?
  20. I certainly agree in hoping that Lego will continue the Pirates line in 2010!
  21. Excellent MOC!
  22. Here's mine, a plain old imperial soldier, with smiley face, shako, backpack, red epaulette, musket, etc. Sorry that it's so small and fuzzy!
  23. Imperial Governer, I don't know if that's overpriced or not, though it's right on the edge of what I'd be willing to pay for it if I still had to buy one. I got lucky and got mine for $21 on eBay, though I don't know how often you'd find that kind of deal. The only other time that I saw it on eBay it was $71, but that included the box with it. (I have the prices written down, as I like to follow the auctions so I know what a good price for various sets are). I guess if you really want it, and don't see it on eBay, $52 might be a price it'd be fair to pay. I would say that it's a fun build, of average easyness. The first step for the "island" uses 17 pieces as you build the first layer of the foundation of the set. The second step uses about as many pieces. From there the steps are usually a half dozen pieces per step, and there's no real sticking points or difficulties that I've spotted. The set took me 37 minutes to build the one time I kept track of time while building it. I think that it is both interesting and fun, yes. It's also a set that has really grown on me as I've built it more and more over time. Fwiw, here's a little review I wrote for the set: Regarding sites selling Pirate sets, the only one I know of and use besides bricklink is eBay. Sometimes you can find some pretty good deals on there, and sometimes not. You just have to watch the auctions and see what the prices are doing as the auction closing time approaches. EDIT--I had said that the set being $52 was overpriced, but now that I think about it, if $50-60 is what people charge for it, then that's the current going rate, so it's not fair to say that that's overpriced. So, I've changed my post/review accordingly.
