It's a pretty interesting build with nice minifigs but I'm still a bit miffed that for some reason the Lego version of this is greatly up-sized. Like the Batman Tumbler which turned from a large car in movie into something the size of a house which has wheels taller than Batman, the Freeco speeder went from a slightly larger BARC/speeder bike with a dome into something the size of a small starfighter (V wing, A wing). It's just one of those things you have to see in person. I was shocked that they priced the set at $50 AUD retail for what I thought was a slightly pimped out speeder bike, only to be surprised at how large it ended up. It makes the cost/brick a bit more reasonable but just don't expect accurate scale.

Unlikely. Individual lego pieces are practically indestructible. In all the lego sets I've bought, I've only had one with a damaged sticker sheet and that was the massive AT-OT/dropship set. The reason they're put in oversized boxes is purely to attract people and give the illusion that it's more 'bang for your buck', it serves them no other function and actually costs Lego more in logistics ie manufacture, transport, shelf space etc.

Pointless thread. Silver Stormy is designed as a display piece. You're asking us what we like to imagine it to be when we play around with it while making 'pew pew' noises? That's up to you.

This is incredibly stupid. If you believe that they'll make Yuuzhan Vong movies where Leia and Han have babies, Luke restarts the Jedi Order etc then you're kidding yourself. Lucas has said many times that while he acknowledges EU, it's still not on the same level of Canon that the movies are, and that he's only going to make 6, and taking the license to the grave. And yes. Movies in 2021... Riiiightt. Because these movies require an entire decade of pre-production right? Even with the prequel trilogy, they only spent the normal several years making Episode 1, instead of the 2 decades after ROTJ. Comments like this benefit no-one. I'm wondering if it was a kid at school, whose father knew the brother of the Security guard of Skywalker Ranch who told you this. Either bring up reputable sources, or keep it off the thread.

It is certainly a disturbing trend with their pricing. I've always been rather unapologetic with my Lego budget, and while it's been easy to whine the last few years with slowly creeping prices, this is certainly the first time where I said flat out that I'm refusing to pay the retail price for new sets I'd otherwise want. I only hope that other rational people do the same thing and vote with their wallets. My main regret is remembering when I was a kid and 100% of my toy allowance came from parents and being helpless in changing that aspect, thus missing so many great sets that I couldn't have at the time. Kids these days must have it so much worse, would any parent not rolling in money pick up an itty box with a speeder on it and plonk down $50 for it? Of course not. -
Missed out on Greedo first time, so bought 2 Egg ships to make up for it. Yes, it's not identical, yes the blue eyes are a bit lame. But sharpie = Greedo.

If it's indeed a UCS shuttle, you can bet a very rich and obsessive individual will be compiling components for an Endor Home One hangar diorama with the UCS Falcon + rebel fighters etc.

More amazing MOCs Dutch! I love your Clone/Marine minifigs. How Gree has that silver sheen he has in the movie as well as the metallic green, Bacara is also great. Not overdone but the resemblance is very close. The vehicles are also very nice, the landspeeder in particular makes me a bit sad how the official new one has practically 0 SNOT.

The things are mutalisks, the basic Zerg flying unit in the game (and probably the most popular for Zerg progamers). Amazing stuff! EDIT: The more I look at it, the more little details pop out. Like all the little gun batteries, broadsides etc in the hull, the Yamato cannon nestled in the 'head' etc. After the also incredible Terran BC earlier this month, they just keep getting better. I'm wondering whether a Protoss Carrier or full-blown UCS-like Galactica is next.

You might feel like the above sets are iconic, but really, many of them were only seen for a few seconds in their respective movies as well. B-wing, A-wing, Bomber etc probably had less screen-time than AT-TE. You seem to be an OT fan and uninterested in all the Prequel/Clone Wars sets (which form the bulk of releases these days), so I understand the sentiment. But you're also conveniently ignoring the fact that the Snowspeeder, A-wing etc have been released since those dates, yes they came in expensive sets (or sometimes not), but that does count. You want a remade A-wing? They gave us a remade A-wing! Hoping for your favourite vehicles to be remade is one thing, but claiming that certain versions 'don't count' because they came in sets that weren't in the specific price range/box size/piece count you wanted is pedantic. Many of the listed sets have been released 2 or 3 times before, meaning we've been given multiple chances to pick them up in the past. Lego doesn't just drop sets into shops randomly before quickly pulling it out of our grasp. We're talking about sets sitting on shelves for weeks or months at a time with plenty of fanfare on sites like EB. The number of people clamouring for yet even more re-releases of specific vehicles alone (not playsets), is staggering. TLG doesn't need to be told that 30 years of OT fans will buy OT sets like mad, they're probably cooking up some as we speak.

Just to make my stance clear, I do not at all argue against a new system falcon. Hell, I'd love it if they made a new version that was bigger, better and more playable than the 4504 as a sort of 'last hurrah' from SW Lego. Where I draw the line is that, I do not believe TLG should remake old sets that many already, have at the expense of exploring new territory.

I'm sorry, the $50 price tag for the ittty bitty Freeco speeder with 2 minifigs was just too much for me. I'm one of the people who always took Lego's price increases in stride. The economy, Australia's import taxes, rising cost of petroleum etc are all understandable right? When I saw that speeder for the first time, I guessed it would be around the same size as the Twin Pod Cloud Car set from years back. As I said to myself. "It'll probably be around $25, but as it's part of the new range, let's just round up to $30 to be a bit more realistic. I'll probably grab a couple for that nice minifig, might even make a Bikie gang!" *$50 price revealed, faint* -
And therein lies the problem. The people who desperately want a new Falcon, Tie Fighter (or any new set) are the ones who probably missed out on it the first time, while everyone who has one just goes "meh." If you already had a system Falcon, you would have the same mentality as most and wish TLG would make new sets for everyone to enjoy, instead of backtracking to make only specific sets which others missed out on. There were sets back in early 00s which I was too poor to grab when they were available and sadly missed, but that's just how it is. Sometimes you just have to support TLG in making new sets that the majority will love, rather than catering to the wants of a vocal minority. Tbh the newest Slave 1 was a huge surprise, I have both Jango's and the last version and they were almost flawless sets. Lego's cashing in on Boba Fett's peculiar popularity with Star Wars fans, his action figures vehicles etc always tend to be more popular and sell more than other generic supporting characters. And like the earlier Rocket Clone Troopers, it also coincided with the new Jetpack mould that's separated from the head, making it the first 'true' new version of the minifig.

$50 $50 $50 .....$50 Mind blown. -
But the 4504 is itself a remake. The A-wing has only been remade once and it is far superior to the original (the green version was just a bonus). Except for the new Slave 1 (which surprised me), Lego usually releases a yellow minifig version in the 90s, then a far superior remake with peach minifigs years later. For those who want a new Falcon, your best bet will be to hope that Lego does a 6212-style "special edition" (which was identical to the one with Yoda's hut) version of the 4504. Imo, I'd rather Lego release new builds of new vehicles such as the Outrider which I feel is well overdue instead of catering to everyone who unfortunately missed out on a past set. There are sets I missed and would love a re-release, but this contributes to their exclusivity. If they remade the same set every year, it takes away the certain 'special' rarity and cheapen Lego to generic plastic bricks. There's no harm in having a wishlist, but just know that TLG's not obligated to make or remake everything we want.

Someone voted Poor? What? This is one of the best SW Lego sets ever released. It's not the most accurate, or detailed. But it's the perfect balance between accuracy/playability/price etc. I picked this baby up on sale for $100 AUD back in the day and it's still one of my favourites. It's not perfect. As others have noticed, there are 'holes' inside the ship that are unsightly, the cockpit is too large while the mandibles too small but that's what MOCs are for. I still think this was an amazing set to both display and play around with.
-
Amazing MOC! I love all the little details. You seem to have built it around the in-game model for the Battlecruiser in SCII, which is a lot more 'busy' looking and chunky. You ever considered making one based on the concept art?

Quite nice, though the lack of knee articulation kills it for me.

Where to get a good custom Ki-Ai Mundi?
Strand replied to Dennimator's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I just found this guy and I hope he comes back, those minifigs look fantastic. If they're not too expensive, I'll prob pick up a few new Jedi. -
I assume that's Brickbeard's Bounty? I love the MOC, if you could post some more pictures of it, it would be greatly appreciated. Love how cute and chubby it is, and yet has an upper deck.

Worse. I price match at EB all the time. And get good prices because my local guys are incredibly laid back (don't bother verifying) or even just make up phony competition prices. -
Hoth Wampa Cave: A bit disappointed. The Wampa doesn't look particularly good and the inclusion of a Snowspeeder? We've already had quite a few and it's only going to jack up the price of this set. Plo Koon's Starfigher: Pretty cool. But I thought that, being a ROTS set, it would have the Astromech Droid on the side, like Obi-Wan's fighter. Instead we get the Clone Wars version and thus, the Clone Wars Jedi Starfighter mould which I had major problems with, with both Anakin's and Ahsoka's fighter. The original AOTC mould is superior imo. And while the blue/white pattern is a paintjob, this looks a bit messy. General Grievous' Starfighter: I'm baffled as to why they thought this was needed, when the original is still fresh on my minds (and probably still on some store shelves). The ship looks a bit ugly imo with a strange cockpit choice but I would love another Mon Cal head. Grievous himself looks like a better minifig than the original. Emperor Palpatine's Shuttle: Interesting build. I do like the cockpit piece, but overall, the ship looks a bit bland and far more 'light' than I imagined. I thought it would be a lot darker. Looks more like a rebuilt Assault Shuttle than anything. Slave I: Looks pretty good. I thought the previous version was perfect but this one is even better, with (corret me if wrong) entirely new pieces at the 'shoulder' of the swivel of the stabilisers. Makes you wonder why they didn't use these pieces earlier. Overall, the colour scheme is a bit 'cartoony' than the last version. New Boba and Bossk look great though. Clone Turbo Tank: It has Aayla Secura, so it's a guaranteed purchase (didn't pick up the last version). Bit disappointed that her head-tails are actually a 'hat' piece and are a different colour from her skin. New mini AT-RT is cute and overall better than the last version. I'd have preferred them remove Anakin and Ahsoka (who are in every set really) and give us a couple more clones or droids.

I think that when it comes to minor characters, TLG has a "Meh, close enough" attitude. Wedge Antilles, one of the most popular EU and canon characters came out having an incredibly generic head. Their helmets should be enough to differentiate them and while Kit is in a ROTS set, I'm sure we'll have a CW episode featuring that very 'scene' with him flying shotgun. Many were disappointed with the lack of 3 pilots, I just hope they release at least another set with clone pilots so we can give them a 'full crew' like a rereleased V-Wing. And I agree about Anakin's mask. They should have left it blank. Now he looks like he has a Homer Simpson beard.

This is great news. But with the exchange rate as it is, it's still a sore blow knowing that American collectors are getting these for bit over $200. And while it'll cost around $280 altogether to get one shipped, I'll have to take into account S@H's very expensive shipping. -
Landspeeder's still blocky and ugly. No SNOT. The Swamp Speeder's a nice surprise, will prob pick up a couple. It does annoy me a bit when they retcon stuff like the Clonie torso, while it is a nice change, it looks out of place compared to the dozens of Clones I already picked up in battle packs etc. Same deal as the battle (and super battle) droid arms either switching their hand angle, or gaining arm guns entirely.
