  1. This is a great project, half a year ago, I was considering something very similar for my own UCS Falcon. I was planning a rectangular low coffee table, maybe slick black surface and had a carpenter and glazier lined up. Never did get around to doing it, so major props for showing how great it can end up looking. Still not as cool as this table though http://i.i.com.com/cnwk.1d/i/bto/20080225/hansolodesk_380x361.jpg
  2. Was this Big W Tweed? I just came back from the Robina one and don't remember seeing any of these prices. Will drop back in tomorrow to see if they're available. This is nuts.
  3. A heads-up, each year Kmart doesn't actually prepare the toys the morning of the sale, but rather do it the night before, after 'closing time'. This is usually around 9pm. Last year I dropped in the night before while they were busy moving everything around for the next morning. And yes, the sales prices have indeed rolled over in the registers so you can pick out what you want in an almost-empty store at sales price. Very handy for the more uncommon sets like UCS (each store gets around half a dozen) PS: This is definitely not advertised, so call ahead to make sure your one is keeping its doors open during this time
  4. The landspeeder was $42, I picked one up yesterday which I'm pretty happy with. I tried to pick up a Transformers Starscream for the same price as the Optimus too but... no dice. Their catalogue should be coming out around now.
  5. I think it's Kmart/Big W. Plus if TRU's having one too, I'll just head up to Broadbeach same night. $240 is quite horrific... I'm not sure I'll consider it, even with a 20-25% off. I suppose will have to take a look at one in the flesh to see if it's worth ponying up the cash.
  6. That's.... my local Myer too, didn't know there were any EB members in my vicinity PacFair Myer's been somewhat lax everytime I've visited, their last "Buy 2 get 2 free", the lady there also took into account my Myer One discount so not sure who you got. You doing happen to be going to the midnight Toy Sales at Robina right?
  7. I'll just return it imo. It's not a big deal, just be honest. The Big W toys catalogue is looking surprisingly awesome as well. And they're all having the midnight sales on the same night, so I can just troll them all. Big W also has the Force FX Lightsabers, don't think it'll be as cheap as TRU's <$100 ones on the Clone Wars launch though.
  8. Hhmmm $299 Tantive IV not too sure about that one. If they'll lower a lay-bay (reserved) one to match their retail price, I'll probably go for that. Wampa's Cave (exclusive) at $69, Atlantis Mech $54 and a whole bunch of City sets. Frankly, the Star Wars Hasbro and Transformers section are more interesting for me at this point.
  9. I also think the $300 Tantive IV is likely a pre-sale price, will just have to wait for the catalogue for this one. Don't think it will be as heavily slashed as the AT-OT price, only reason why that one kept getting cut was 1) the initial price was only $50 less than RRP, a lot less than the $150 off on the DSII and 2) it wasn't really a popular set and could still be found all over the place.
  10. Wow. $199 is an absolute STEAL for the Imperial Flagship, I picked it up for the $280 S@H thing with the Atlantis freebie and never regretted it. It's also one of the few 'impressive' sets I have, that non-Lego fans can appreciate as it's physically quite large and detailed and is a very recognisable design. Fingers crossed Kmart gets the Tantive IV! After missing out on the Star Wars Shop sale yonks ago and being too cheap to pay postage, I'll dearly love to pick it up in-store. I love Kmart's midyear sales, They have a big lovely UCS each time at a great price. Last year picked up the DSII, UCS Grievous ($30ish) and that insane AT-OT/dropship bundle everyone jumped in on.
  11. You sure Gizmodo didn't pay $5000 for it? Jokes aside, amazing set! Now it's only time someone MOCs a scaled Home One Hangar from RotJ. All the pieces now in place!
  12. Can anyone enlighten me to what this "Barcode Method" is? Flicked through a few pages with no luck
  13. I disagree. Blind-packed toys can be EXTREMELY annoying and often bring out the worst in people. A few years ago, every time HotWheels ran a blind packed car series, I'd see ripped-open packages in every Kmart. Same thing happened when I got into those mini star wars busts and found tonnes of opened and dumped sets in-store. Sometimes they wouldn't even have the decency to purchase the 'desirable' ones they found and just outright stole them.
  14. I think I just found my new favourite Middle Easternet petname.
  15. Nice review I also agree with everything. It's such a cute itty bitty set! I bought a couple and have them sitting on my work desk and people have noticed how cute and their resemblance to Smart cars are.
  16. I found this MOC on another site (Videogame related) and was quite literally blown away at the detail and scale of this truly epic model. I rushed straight to EB to find more info about it but was shocked to find out that no-one had posted it yet! For those who played Mass Effect 2 and loved it (no one can hate this game), the Normany SR-2 is a bigger, badder version of the protagonist Shepard's ship from Mass Effect 1. It's a stealth frigate used by the main characters as their means of transport and for much of your game serves as your 'hub base' where you can interact with the crew-members and explore the bowels of this ship. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/188396 Some fans will notice the little features like the little shuttle bay (with shuttle), the possible Thanix cannon upgrade, movable cockpit door etc. While the model isn't as 'sleek' or very polished as some of the previous UCS MOCs we've had, the Normandy's design works against using smooth curved pieces and I think this is just amazing. AGAIN: I DID NOT MAKE THIS! I found it from a different source and thought there might be a lot more fans out there. Ben Fellowes's model is truly something to behold and it would be great if he could come on board to EB (if he doesn't already have an account) see how much of a piece of nerd bait this thing is.
  17. Definitely Starship Troopers (not based on the cheap looking SWAT look of the movie) and Dune (again, not the Lynch version). Though these are pipe dreams. Hell would freeze over before TLG would even think about making Dune Lego. I second James Cameron's Avatar, though I did used to think that Avatar: The Last Airbender would be pretty cool for Lego, but then official sets weren't too great.
  18. I've never been to these "Build a minifig" things so I think I'm going to rock up and do whatever. If there's no size limit I'll prob make a huge 'minifig' ball "Yep! I'm done!" Otherwise, Just want to see what pieces they have,
  19. You can pretty much say this about any ship in the OT besides the Falcon, X-wing or TIE fighters. Boba even as a character only has a few minutes of screentime and few lines of dialogue. He's not even a badass in the movies, his only real action scene he gets beaten by a blind Han Solo. It's only through fandom that people became interested or wrote stories to make him one of the most popular supporting characters. Same with Slave I. we don't see much of it, yet there are countless games, novels, comic books that feature the ship.
  20. I have both the previous one and Jango Fett's and this is still a guaranteed buy for me. The mega-cool new minifigs as well as overall improved design are enough. The shoulders and colour scheme are lovely.
  21. Still any news on Luke's Landspeeder or Swamp Speeder? I heard a few TRUs had Swamp Speeders, but I haven't seen any around (is it a TRU exclusive?) I'm still waiting patiently for a retail release of Tantive IV, I missed the Star Wars.com sale and reallllyyy don't want to go back to Stinge@Home
  22. I really liked this ship in the cartoon, it was so cute I also really dig the overall 'look' of this model, though there are some things which might have been done better. I think you did about as good a job as possible with official Lego pieces (the bobble cockpit would be hard as hell to perfect)
  23. Very cool little Impulse set. Whitefang... were you the guy who sold me the chrome Vader MISB a while ago from Singapore? (from the clueless guy who barely knows how to use BL )
  24. Is this girl a Lego aficionado? She seems to know quite a bit, some of the choices could have been dodgy like identical minifigs with different printing but I think I probably could have gotten everything, I'm guessing she mistook the snowtrooper backpack for Boba's jetpack. Germany's awesome, this would never have been allowed in the US. That kid accidentally swallowing one = a world of lawsuits against the producers.
  25. Doesn't sound too unreasonable, but a rumour's still a rumour. It's like someone saying in a school playground "my uncle's cousin's nephew's sister works at nintendo and said they're going to make a Pokemon game with 3 billion pokemon!" I wouldn't make too much of it until there is evidence from a more trusted source.
