Edit: Double! -
I'd be happy to, if the attitude changed. Your position merely went from "You guys are wrong" to "You guys don't care about accuracy," which is wholly inaccurate. I care about accuracy as much as the next man, but I give Lego a certain free pass. Why? Because it's Lego. That and the box also states "Ages 6-12." I have UCS sets, Airfix kits etc to satisfy the need for accuracy. Constantly bringing up inaccuracy in a Lego board is pointless, that or simply acknowledge that there are other fans who share the same values, but (for whatever reason) can simply live with the things you can't. When it comes to the point where you have to finish something you say with "nobody else", it means you're likely the only one with a chip on your shoulder, and not the hundreds of others sharing this board.

No. The purpose is to sell toys. That is all. TLG's proven willingness to simply invent new vehicles, sets or otherwise take significant creative license shows that screen accuracy is a very distant priority to simply making fun sets designed for children. Therein lies your problem. You've admitted as much that you're extremely picky regarding screen accuracy of sets, and thus only speak for a certain minority (of the already niche AFOL demographic). You don't buy too many sets? This is precisely why TLG releases UCS sets. You would prefer it to be as close to its source as possible with an already 'crude' building block, but AFOLs only account for a minority of Lego's business, and thus they have no real obligation to only satisfy you. Besides, what are MOCs for? All things considered, the 2007 Y-Wing is remarkably well-scaled. It's reasonably-sized, has a surprising amount of greeblies etc. Again, if we're to nitpick here, the minifigs aren't even in scale with themselves. Their limbs too short, heads too large etc. We're talking about a medium where almost everything is innately out-of-scale. I'm beginning to wonder if Lego was the right choice for you after all.

My mistake! But yeah... It 'spanned' the length of the OT. And as far as I'm concerned, should stand for the "Only Trilogy"

UCS Death Star playset. It's the sort of toy I'd have DREAMT of as a kid, but only now as an adult can afford. Tonnes of great minifigs, plenty of playability features, plenty of MOC-potential. Just the all-round perfect set. And the fact it has scenes from all 3 of the Original films is just all the better. It's a timeless classic. UCS Falcon might be the most physically impressive, but Death Star gets my vote.
-
Lovin it! My main pet peeve would be the red tiles. It looks a little busy dotting them all over the place, the original Falcon only had a hint of it (which I always assumed was an incomplete paintjob removal). Looks like you took on some of the better features of the upcoming set.
-
I think it's been mentioned a hundred times before, but if Australians and Europeans can live with our Lego prices, then Americans sure as hell can. We won't complain if you guys don't, but it's very grating sometimes. Otherwise, there are other threads for this type of thing.

Oh God, it looks like he had a lobotomy. Had no idea the headpiece 'seam' was that noticeable. Otherwise, great pics! The Falcon's looking a bit more 'healthy, assuaging some of my concerns, but the mandible/dish gap is more noticeable than ever. Also, no idea what's with the large technic blocks underneath. Is the new set THAT fat? New Luke hair is probably the best that could be said about the minifig selection here. Love the Republic Frigate minifigs... Not so keen on the ship though, it seems like another of the RBR/Republic Cruiser-build sets and I already have those two. Oh boy will this hurt the wallet. Podracers: Huge improvements over the last versions. Great minifig selection. Those stands/support struts are unsightly though Sith Infiltrator: Looks like an improvement, but considering how 'sleek' (albeit fragile) the last set was, this one's decked in studs for what otherwise should be a very sexy smooth ship. Judgement will depend on what extra features it's packing. Just noticed the underside (this thread moves very fast sometimes) and ewwww. There's a lot of room for improvement thankfully. First thing for anyone would be to scrap those Flick-fire missiles instantly, then board up the large gaps between beams with some flat panels. Some large block pieces would 'fill' out the shape very nicely (like the UCS). My main concern then would be whether the ship has become too 'fat' or not with the added bulk. A question: Reading through this board, it seems for a large number of people, this would be their first system MF. Is there a reason why the 4504 didn't sell very well, or didn't appeal to you at the time? If it was a $ issue, it seems strange to wait years later for a set. With inflation and Lego pricing, this set would likely cost 2-3x as much as I paid for my own 4504.

Well, not to be 'that guy', but your sentence structure brings tears to my eyes. The overuse of ellipses, the lack of distinct paragraphs, extraneous information etc. I know there's a rule for posting regarding spelling, but shouldn't there be a grammar one too? I'm hardly a grammar nazi and make mistakes like anyone else, but please clean up your posts/avoid double posting etc. ninja EDIT: Just noticed your earlier post regarding dyslexia, if something that can't be helped, then I apologise

Yep. Just as expected. I also wouldn't be surprised if they reneged on all the transactions that already took place. Nonetheless, kudos to COTD for listening to feedback, $78 delivered for a Venator is one spicy meatball. -

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I've ordered from COTD plenty of times. Everything from cheap candy to laptops and every single transaction has been fine for me. I've also done refunds, had orders cancelled or modified etc. Just a simple call or email would suffice. Hell, with this set, there popped up a discount code from one of their representatives with $30 off to beat the Fishpond one. If you've already ordered, email QQQ@catchoftheday.com.au with your order number etc, and you'll get the store credit (not as good as $30 refund, but whatevs). Fishpond on the other hand... are absolutely horrid. Worst experiences with them. Goodluck getting anything to arrive within 2 months, that's when they don't out-right cancel orders and back-track. Would never recommend them. -
It's less about how small they are (although that is an issue too), but more the general 'shape.' They're too acute, narrow, look like they fit too poorly to the saucer section. The 4504 had small mandibles too, but they at least retained the general shape, and had the sense to use a 2x1 clear tile for the flood-lamps instead of a single stud.
-
kris kelvin, the gift that keeps on giving! Keep up the good work! Pod-racers look like a hell of an improvement, still has that obtrusive 'strut' in between. I can live with it though. I want to say no to the Republic Frigate (already have Cruiser and RBR), but dayum those minifigs!
-
Hhmmm The speeder...Looks okay I suppose. Could do with another Asajj minifig. Ewoks: Could certainly do with a few more. No complaints from me MF: Disappointing. I'm not sold on the mandibles. Maybe it's perspective or something, but they look awful. Love what they did with the cockpit and some of the other details. But those mandibles just rub me the wrong way. The floodlights on the front are a single clear stud? Honestly I'd have preferred the preliminary version (below) http://i53.tinypic.com/9hqf7a.jpg

Totally digging new Luke hair. And all the ALIENS! Oh my, so awesome. A great Watto (or generic Toydarian), an actually okay Dug, love the Genosian. So many new potential Jedi figs from this wave. Downside: The Iridonian/Zabrak head 'cap', just looks weird. For minifigs of this scale, I don't think adding something like miniscule horns is going to matter. Still not sure about Ki-Adi Mundi's head. Does he have a stud on top of that dome? Or is it just a head cap?
-
The AT-TE looks fairly sound, but the front-end is busy, there are sloped pieces tacked on there, which I'm not sure what purpose they serve. I like the idea of side-cannons where the middle set of legs would be. The gunship looks rickety, too much going on and there are gaps etc that make the engineer in me wonder what sort of structural stability it has.
-
As far as I'm aware, 'chibi' is essentially just super-deformed, exaggerated proportioned character models eg oversized heads, short limbs etc.
-
This isn't a legitimate reason. If everyone proposed sets they simply missed out on (for whatever reason), we'll be bombarded with clone sets for a minority of collectors.

This is why I hate blind-packed toy waves. I know it gives the toys a sort of fun 'lucky dip' element, but it always brings out the worst in hardcore collectors. Hot Wheels does this all the time with car waves and you can always tell because the aisle is littered with unwanted cars and wrecked packaging. The occasional Japanese anime toy collections are the worrrrsstt. -
Well to me at least, EU encompasses everything outside the scope of the live-action films. Of course, there's various levels of legitimacy here, but you get my drift. Just not big on non-movie stuff.

I'd imagine so. If it's an Australian issue (as I haven't heard about it elsewhere), then I'd like to imagine it was due to the heat, rather than just a dodgy batch of sticker sheets. I'll probably try contacting them tomorrow. -
Hhmm fair enough. The Sebulba Pod-racer looks shopped for sure. All right, some quick impressions MF: Disappointing. I had some major issues with the 4504 version that included: folding triangle panels are unstable, unwieldy and took ages to open all up (vs a single large lift-off panel, or even like the UCS with large sections). The scale was kind of weird (cockpit way too large for body etc) etc. TLG had the chance to knock this one out of the park and start from the ground up with a fresh MF. But it looks like they just polished the 4504 and made it more stable (like the newest Slave One) Dathomir: No idea, not big on EU. Pod-Racers: Hinges (pun intended) on how intrusive the support bar will be. Endor: Fair, looks like a good source of cheap Ewoks Geonosian Fighter: Only incremental improvement over the last design. Great minifigs though Republic Frigate: I'll assume it's essentially the same thing as the Republic Cruiser. If so, great ship for those who missed out on the last version, even if the colour scheme is a bit more conservative this time, and isn't as flashy as the last one. Sith Infiltrator: Ho hum. On one hand, we're having our third iteration on one of the least popular ships of the saga. On the other hand...looks like there are structural improvements and I loooooveee the cockpit dome. But it just looks so... rough, especially when the last version was so sleek (not to say the last one was perfect, it was still too flimsy, only used a few large pieces etc)
-
I apologise if this has already been answered... but do the Pod-Racers still have those unsightly bars to support the pod and engines? I mean.. that huge tan block thing completely ruined it the first time.

Copy pasted from the V-Wing thread, but thought maybe there are locals who have this problem too. I just assembled one of the V-Wings. [...] there was wrong with the sticker sheet. When I pulled it open, all the edges were peeling back off the sheet as if the stickers were shrunken. Upon application, the edges would not give so I cheated a bit and used a thin film of paper glue and held it in place while it dried but no dice, the edges would not stay in place. My main concern is that left like this, the edges would accumulate dust and such and just worsen. Here are a couple pictures. The problem stems from the opaque stickers, not the clear Imperial insignia ones on the side. Did anyone else notice this problem with their V-Wings? Note that this it's the Australian summer where I am so would heat be an issue? I never left the box in the sun and it was in an air conditioned store. -
