  1. While it is certainly true that ST has a LOT of ships (40 years worth) that may be built to minifig scale, they're just boring. While Lego can create minifig scale Falcons, X-wings etc till the cows come home. What you have with ST is a bunch of vaguely different shuttlecraft that have very little playability. And minifigs? Each version of ST has a main crew of around 10 characters, that's barely enough to sustain a couple of sets. The rest only have bit-pieces on certain episodes and are far too obscure for TLG to consider making separate versions of. Look how long it took them to get a Mon Calamari head out. I think for those who want to get ST lego going, mocs are the best option. I've seen some great ones out there and to the first guy who makes an accurate mini-fig scale Defiant, I tip my hat.
  2. http://www.smh.com.au/news/world/two-shot-...7491867768.html I've been in the US for a couple of Black Fridays and for what it's worth, put Walmart at the bottom of your list. The savings aren't too great, the crowd's a lot more rabid (they should really rename those 'door buster sales')
  3. I like how you went with the whole Modern Warfare theme with Clone Wars. I love the Howitzer but some of the Gunship additions are a tad excessive, as the stock version's already pretty heavily armed!
  4. Excellent review. Agreed completely. This is actually my favourite AT-ST build, the new Endor one is a tad skinny and has the rough plated appearance, while this one's a bit larger, stabler and smooth.
  5. Lucky you. Picked it up for $160 here, still a somewhat decent deal imo. The voucher is http://www.ecogamer.com/images/stories/con...ysruscoupon.png just in case
  6. from 3rd-5th october, TRU is having a 20% off storewide sale. To those who subscribe to the email. This might be a good chance to pick up some TRU exclusives like $160 Home One (the cheapest you'll ever get it here)
  7. The first and foremost reason Enterprise failed was because the show as a whole sucked and failed to win either new fans or old ones. I'm sure the HD/analogue issue didn't help but who would have wanted to watch that show when there are so many other good ones (including Galactica) out there.
  8. Want to trade WANTS -chrome C-3PO (sealed) -green Kashyyk bike clone -Senate commando -new Count Dooku (CW) HAVES -Jango Fett -Young Boba Fett -Rex -Fox -K-3PO -Nute Gunray -many other more common minifigs (clones, stormies, rebels, jedi etc) willing to trade Get back to me with what you have/want so we can make a fair deal. Preferably trade within Australia (never shipped international before, heh)
  9. If you're searching for SP Impulse sets, don't be afraid to go digging around. My Big W had mounds of impulse sets from pirates, castle, city etc and after a bit of looking I found 3x K9 sets right at the bottom, buried under mounds of other stuff.
  10. Yeah, some of the other ones are ridiculously extravagant, with dozens of minor characters I doubt TLG would ever release. The UT-AT thing I suggested, I imagine would be something like the AT-TE set (with anakin, ashoka, rex, clone) but instead has the UT-AT, Ki-Adi Mundi, and a couple of recoloured Snowtroopers as galactic marines.
  11. If you want best SW set, regardless of everything, probably UCS deathstar. So playable, so iconic and combines the best of both minifig sets and UCS. Though if I would say which set is bang for the buck? It'll be 6212 X-wing. The better X-wing build imo, looks great, great playability, and a whole bunch of famous minifigs for incredible value.
  12. An Order 66 themed set -Ki-Adi Mundi with a couple of Galactic Marines and maybe even that hovertank thing we see in the death scene. -Plo-Koon's blue Jedi starfighter -Clone heavy cannon -OUTRIDER!!!
  13. Very impressed. I love the plated look of the saucer. The nacelles look excellent too. My only gripe would have to be the shuttlebay. It looks like in his attempt for playability, the back of the ship was bulked up a bit to fit a small shuttlecraft. Personally, I would have just cut the feature entirely to make it sexier.
  14. Unlikely, (as much as Trekkies don't like to admit it) Star Trek does not have the mainstream appeal Star Wars does. You only have to walk down a toy aisle to see mounds of Star Wars toys which have been steadily rotating since the 70s. And you see kids in Yoda/Darth Vader T-shirts, how many children have you seen wearing a Starfleet shirt with Spock on it? Additionally, Star Trek operates on a different scale as Star Wars. While SW has iconic ships like Millennium Falcon, Slave 1, MANY fighters which could easily be adapted to minifig scale. Only ST ships which can realistically do this are possibly shuttlecraft and perhaps a handful of even more uninteresting designs. Iconic ships like the Enterprise are too large to make a reasonable playset without either playability or aesthetics suffering.
  15. Worst minifigs would have to be some of the obscure Episode 1 dudes that came with the Pod Racer sets. Sebulba in particular is hardly a 'minifig' as it is a decoration for his Racer.
  16. Looks like a Tau vehicle (Warhammer 40k), nice design.
  17. Or for Walmart visits. The thing definitely has an 'awwwww' factor to it.
  18. Don't have Tantive IV, so going with Home One. Mon Cal heads, come on! Great minifigs: Aackbar, Mon Mothma, Crix Madine, Lando etc. You almost have a complete Rebel high command, and a bonus Mon Cal head to use for rebel pilots/techs/jedi etc.
  19. That's a very sweet promo. Jealous Aussie here, I'd certainly stock up on a whole bunch of them while I can, soooo cute. That said, is the Daily Mirror one of those horrible sensationalist tabloid publications we keep hearing about?
  20. I think this was addressed earlier. TRU will continue to price things their way as long as people are willing to pay for them. Their Twilight was $150, was a piece of crap and hardly anyone bought it, so now it's at $100. While this is fine with most sets where you can probably find cheaper at Kmart etc, it sort of burns when something like Home One is exclusive, yet is $30 more than S@H. Should just wait for sales for these things, though Twilight-scale discounts are probably only for very unpopular exclusives.
  21. Yes and no. Still haven't received the Lego magazine at my parents' address yet (under dog's name), though I still haven't received my regular one either (it's a quarterly though, so give it a while)
  22. It was in that Saturday's Herald. It's one of those unadvertised sales they sometimes do on the day.
  23. I too thought the Joker's van was the pleasant surprise of this set. The Tumbler looks good yes, until you see it in person... it's grossly oversized. They should have made it closer to a regular car size (like the movie), because this one is a monster.
  24. Frikkin amazing. I love all the little details, and how it overcomes all the shortcomings of the previous versions. The cockpit is sublime. I'd just love to see this build along with Falcon, rebel fighters, Endor troopers etc in a sort of Home One hangar diorama.
  25. Very sweet humongous Boba, how much does it weight? "Aang. That rhymes with Meng! And you got some pretty big ears don't you"
