  1. My main complaint about the Landspeeder is that while every other early lego set has improved so much with later editions (esp the rebel fighters), the new landspeeder is still blocky and ugly as ever. If it wasn't for the peach coloured minifigs, I would have thought it was a set from the 90s. What's even worse is the number of awesome Landspeeder MOCs out there, particularly this one VS http://i47.tinypic.com/et6r01.png
  2. Amazing! I just wish my real life workplace looked that great. All it needs is a radiology lab
  3. New ARC-170s look fantastic. I admit I was a fan of the split-nose of the original but this looks much more accurate. And the engines in the first one looked too.. runty and had ugly spaces everywhere. The engines here are much beefier and awesome.
  4. THIRTY clones? You realise that DS only had 25 and that was the biggest minifig scale set ever released? Too many of these are pipe dreams. In terms of a 'realistic' option for a new set, I would definitely back the UT-AT. An AT-TE-like set. It would have 2-3 Galactic Marines and Ki-Adi Mundi
  5. This reminds me of one of my very first sets (Anakin's Podracer) and I loved that thing to death. Though the tan 'struts' that connected all the parts of the Pod really bugged me. I think these sets would make a nice diorama though, with struts removed and pods positioned nicely. I never picked this set up though, as I couldn't afford it in the day and I don't feel any regrets, the minifigs are almost universally awful.
  6. Curse the high res pictures! They look so good now I want them all. The ARC-170 looks amazing. That said, I don't think the BP pilots and troopers are supposed to be any named trooper. I'm sure plenty of rebels had moustaches on Hoth, and the pilot helmet I think is supposed to be a generic design (short of TLG releasing simple Blue rebel insignia version). I love all the different rebel helmets and pilots we've been getting, it allows one to build a varied Rogue Squadron or whatever.
  7. Apparently it came with their online email subscription, though I found it on a videogame site, similar to this thread (Ecogamer.com). The coupon ran out on Saturday I'm afraid.
  8. TRU isn't too bad, it is the only place you can pick up their exclusives after all, and you just have to wait until there's a sale or subscribe to their newsletter for deals, otherwise it's more expensive overall. It's like the toy version of EB Games. I picked up Brickbeard's Bounty today for little over $100 at TRU with the 20% off online coupon.
  9. It's not just you. I remember picking up the original ARC-170 at retail price ($75 AUD), and if I were to guess, new one RRP will be around $130 AUD here (if you're going by TLG's Australia pricing guide which seems to be: Double the US price, then take off $10-20 at own discretion, regardless of US/Aussie dollar price parity). HOWEVER, I still think the US price is quite reasonable. Sure there's been a price rise, but it's not just Lego, EVERYTHING'S more expensive these days. Last couple years I was shocked to realise that my (identical) groceries bill almost doubled. I don't blame Lego for adapting, their Aussie pricing is something else though.. I hope you're referring to just the medical room and a window because a systems Nebulon-B would be nightmare. Lego still has problems adapting capital ships to 'minifig scale' and if a ship like the Venator ended up with such a gimped and ugly interior, imagine how something like the Nebulon-B, with 2 sections, a thin middle would be, additionally how would it stand up?
  10. c: So you're saying the Batman Tumbler I grabbed half-assedly is actually worth something? Nice. That said, I'll be visiting both local Kmarts tomorrow to see what other crazy deals they might have. And major props for Imperial Flagship, I'll be definitely grabbing that online, I'm terrified as to what the Aussie RRP for that thing will be.
  11. Amazing review. Pirates isn't my favourite Lego line but this is a definite must-buy for me sooner or later. It just looks so good! Though I think a more accurate term would be "Brickbeard just pooped his deck" (hurrr)
  12. This set was a disappointment for me. Could have been executed better, and I know TLG has all sorts of problems when turning capital ships into system scale. Some come out rather well (Republic Cruiser), but others like this just suffer. Not Lego's fault, just that the ship's design doesn't lend very well to minifig scale. The shape and size just don't work. There was no way they could have designed the distinctive pointed triangular shape and sitll made it fun. Hence, I REALLY hate the interior of this ship. It's cramped, ugly, has supporting structure all over the place, has large gaping holes etc.
  13. Don't know why they're releasing ANOTHER Slave 1. I thought the last 6209 set was perfect. It fixed all the problems I had with the previous Jango fet set (which itself was pretty awesome) and had a whole bunch of great minifigs. I'll be picking it up for Bossk, but I'll be majorly annoyed if it's too similar to the last version. The new Boba must be pretty freakin special.
  14. I don't mind the Battlepack parts. I've only made each BP vehicle once, just to see how crap they were before just cannibalizing them for parts. The Imp 'trench' is pretty dinky, but the Rebel 'Laser Cutter' is ugly as sin too. Hell, I'd still pay current BP prices for minifigs without the token vehicle they throw in. It's just flavouring that gives a bit of playability imo.
  15. I agree, people aren't going to get these things as army buildiers. But while it doesn't matter if a battle pack has 1 more or less figure, in this case it means an incomplete crew. There's no reason they had to put in Kit Fisto at the expense of a 3rd Clone Pilot. As each ship can seat 3 but only comes with 2, I'll have to get 2 of the ARCs just to have a complete 'stock' crew. And unlike the understocked AT-OT/AT-TE etc sets, you can't just buy battlepacks to fill them up as these pilots aren't in any other set. Plus, I already have Kit Fisto (which itself was thrown in as a bonus to the Jedi Starfighter, just like how it should have been here - a bonus figure that doesn't have to come at the cost of 1 less stock figure)
  16. Love the new ARC-170, though I would have preferred them have 3 clone pilots as opposed to Kit Fisto +2. I love how these ones have the correct visor helmet, and would have loved to get 3 for a complete crew. I still prefer the split nose look of the original though
  17. Doubt anyone does. It's a small, dinky model that sits on your desk. I think it's a great set. That said, I'd love to see another Falcon playset and would buy it for sure, just highly doubt it would happen. Legos like most other toy waves, come out, stay for a period of time and disappear. Particularly if the 4504 is considered part of the 'current' OT fleshie line.
  18. The TRU solar sailor 'sounds' good but considering that TRU goods are marked up, that 40% is a lot less appealing when it's closer to 30%, which is around ballpark of a general store sale. And that set isn't one I'm dying to get. Does anyone know when the Tantive IV is being released here in-store? And if it's a store exclusive?
  19. I don't see why TLG would be in any hurry to release another playable Falcon. They've already released 2. Plus, most re-releases are usually made because the original was out during the yellow minifig era, hence the 4504 is itself a remake. The point of the the midi-scale Falcon, was to satisfy everyone who wanted a Falcon model, I can't see them releasing yet another version so soon after the UCS and midi Falcons.
  20. Not exactly surprised. The set has been around for awhile and they certainly can't keep them in stock indefinitely. For those who don't have this amazing set, I'll recommend getting a loan or just borrowing off friends of family, yes it's that good. A month of 2 minute noodles would help too.
  21. Guaranteed purchase for me. I'm still wondering what's stopping all the tiles on the top from falling off when you chuck the DS in a bag or something. As cases go, it's fairly ugly, but it manages to combine 3 of some of my favourite things: Star Wars, Lego and gaming.
  22. Saw this set around but it never appealed to me. Poor minifig selection, large, uninspired design (though it's hardly TLG's fault) and a high price point. The review was excellent and pointed out that it just came out at a very unfortunate time when people were lapping up the other great CW sets so this has to be the ugly duckling of the line. I'm sure if it came out during a SW lego drought, plenty would snap it up just to get their lego fix. I think massive price cuts on this set are almost universal, this thing was cut from $150 -> $100 AUD quite swiftly and has remained that way.
  23. Cloud city for me and maybe the 4504 X-wing. I picked up a couple of 6212s later, but missed out on Yoda's hut. Other than that, I've been quite lucky. The ones I don't have, I usually made a conscious decision not to buy them at the time. That or, I couldn't afford them at the time, but picked up better-built re-releases later (AT-TE and Gunship are in this boat) so it's cool.
  24. Yep! If that person got a tip-off, chances are they're either a EB poster, or a lurker. Same thing happened at the CW midnight launch, I met this dude grabbing some lego sets and he was a EB and FBTB member (didn't give me a screen name though)
  25. Huge props to TheDarkness for finding this one. I checked today, my closest Kmart didn't have anything in stock but the second had 2. Finally got myself a $144 Dropship! Was tempted to grab the last one to keep sealed but reason prevailed. Double Post (screw it): Alright, fess up. Which one of you was it?
