  1. See, the thing is, pirate ships must have a proper ratio of width to height or they begin to look silly or awkward. The largest LEGO ship hull can only be heightened so much. The sides just shouldn
  2. Heh, 'twas a joke, Mr Ironhook! (Poorly executed at that, I suppose. :-P) Arrr, an' all that jazz...
  3. Impressive design, there, BoronSat. So I wonder what pirate fans would think, if TLC were to add more technic to pirate sets. These days technic is already infiltrating many system themes, much to the chagrin of older fans. If the Pirate Theme were resurrected, would you mind the technic infiltration?
  4. what ???!!!??? you have a clint eastwood avatar and don't check the home forum for western MOCs ??? :-P Those pirate fanatics were baffled by my gun slinging, western drawling, hat tipping mannerisms. So they did what any pirate would do, and tossed me into the brig. I managed to escape, but I can only live off of leather boots for so long! sometimes "optimum creativity" just means we are releasing MOCs and starting discussions that inspire/motivate us to build and create our best. i think we do that already X-D - BrickMiner Discussions are good. You sure even more discussion wouldn't erupt from a team up? ;-) The methods of you history buffs seem sound enough. I await more discussion! *rides off into the sunset*
  5. These MOCs remind me a lot of the movie Wild, Wild West. Especially the man with the cannons. It'd be neat to see a LEGO interpretation of the giant mechanical spider:
  6. You should read the synopsis of movies before watching them to get a general idea of what to expect. I am indifferent toward Jack. He is relatively amusing in the first movie, but strains his funny bone in the sequel. (A lot of that can be attributed to the script. Still, they're molding the character with the dialogue he spouts.) Good pirate movies can be a useful source of historical fodder. A few movies that come to mind are Master and Commander, Pirates of the Caribbean, a silly pirate movie (the submarine boat idea was stolen by POTC) starring Errol Flynn, I think? (It wasn
  7. Ah, excellent find Admiral. I've been looking out for such a link. Just from glancing over it I can see there's a lot of juicy stuff. When I have more free time and a spare hull I shall read it.
  8. At a whopping $30 price tag I am doubtful if a hull will be included at all. The smallest classic ship hull is probably cheaper than the "tug boat" hull of the future, so let's cross our fingers.

  10. Wonderful ship, so far, Mr Tiber. 'Tis a shame the images can't be blown up to effectively scrutinize the work. Now what is that light grey object near the bow of the ship? Gun port pattern is great to look at and adds more detail to the ship. The raised sides don't at all distract. Fabulous work. Lately, your creations have incorporated a lot of red. I'm wondering if you plan to build differently colored ships soon. (It's perfectly fine if you are constrained to the color. Only curious.)
  11. One of the few ships to effectively raise the sides without appearing flat. (Can't specify why :-P) The cabin is nicely designed. The fortress overshadows the ship altogether. Great design and colors. Bonaparte, you might want to create a separate thread for this fortress.
  12. Yes, I was wondering if the Admiral had a plan worked out or not. I like the unusual piece selection. *y*
  13. The designer of the "Nave dei pirati" clearly knew what he was doing, until it came time for the paint job! The ship's muddled in a bizarre array of yellow and black that resembles space more than pirates. Shiver me timbers fer goodness sake, he's got yellow pod-racer flaps tacked onto the side of the ship. What for? Space must have clouded his mind when he was building this ship.
  14. The modifications add a great deal more personality to the set. I too think the first incarnation of the MOC was fine. Is there an original story to accompany the MOC?
  15. Captain Roger, do you understand how to deeplink? If not, yoda has provided a tutorial for such an predicament: http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...?showtopic=5448
  16. Hmm, I was expecting a whale... Even so, it's a very well done flash animation. Mr. Phes, you've expressed interest in animating figs and whatnot, aye? I'd like to see what you have to offer the genre.
  17. Yes, the DOS is still standing (apart from a railing piece which I needed for another MOC). I plan to lengthen it fairly soon, maybe even today. With the ship's modification another story will be added.
  18. Bonaparte, he refers to himself as Mr. Petit, to mask his megalomania from his crew. (I'll admit most of them discover his appetite for the grandiose lifestyle soon enough, so it is a bit silly, but he is a crazy man after all!) In short, no. (At least not yet. ;-)) My MOCs are all interconnected through history and current events (within my "world"). I'd love to enhance my pictures with "bubble dialogue", but I do not have any Photoshop related programs and am without the skill to manipulate that type of program.
  19. I would try to formulate a witty retort involving a ninja and the evils of curiosity, but alas I am in need of sleep. ;-)
  20. I always thought so. But then again, I envision a lot of red, green, and black I concur. That's almost exclusively how I envision historical Asian Culture. One would surmise that TLC agrees, based off of their latest oriental line. (AKA Orient Express) Heck, they aren't exactly renowned for historical accuracy either.
  21. What prompted the replacement of the underlying red stair-structure? The flow has been disrupted! Two red stair-supporters and then a sudden shift to orange?! Let's hope ninja madness has not overtaken the Brickster. Ahem, with that out of the way, the stealthy ninja scheming is highly amusing. The murals are great additions as well.
  22. Glancing at the MOC I get a Mayan vibe. Something about it doesn't stimulate the thought of Asian culture. (Aside from the presence of dragon myths.) Look at the pattern on the lime half-rounds for instance. To me they represent the Mayan Temples. The colors are very organic, (lots of greens, blues, and yellows) which are a contributing factor to its misguided cultural representation. Then again, I did just see a preview of Apacalypto, so that may have influenced my subconscious. :-P Did artistic renditions of Asian Dragons ever escalate to this degree of colorful vibrancy?
  23. D'oh! The images aren't deep linked, Captain Roger. Just click on the image until it appears on a blank window. (.jpg should appear at the end of the link)
  24. Heh, when you first joined I thought you were of the other gender. My name
  25. Ah, thank you! Hmm, intriguing. So in your world the Wolfpack society has adapted to the age of piracy. I could easily imagine that. TLC would be wise to consider this idea. Not only would they please Castle Fans by resurrecting a dead faction, but it would also have the potential to create a very distinct story line within the pirate theme.
