  1. Yo, my bro, this is Berry Syedow. Your favorite sets are a total of four, but please tell me you have more. Castle specifically, that's my favorite delicacy. UFO's disgusting color and dreadful design compel me to moan, but to each their own. Star Wars and ninjas are awesome, but in LEGO, pirates truly blossom. My main dilemma is that darned hull, can't do nothing but elongate them, a major toll. As for bionicle, the junorization is maniacal. It's been fun, but I'm outta rhyme. Welcome, an' have a good time! ~Mr. Syedow, who's rhymin' skillz are rusty. :-P
  2. Captaintau, he mistook your name for Renegade Clone. :-P As for this site, I will remain unconvinced until someone receives his purchase. Thirty euros for the Mistland Tower, anyone? |-/
  3. Welcome aboard, conductorjoe! I'm glad you decided to join us. You were one of the few diamonds in the rough at LEGO.com. X-D I still frequent the boards, sticking to the "parent section," but it's not nearly as enlightening as this place. Mr. Phes, precisely how negative were you? The mods usually authorize any of my posts that contain criticisms of TLC. Heck, there was a huge post I made, analyzing the fall of the LEGO empire, that was almost immediately accepted. They only disapprove of every new thread that I create. |-/
  4. Atlantis would be a great way to rejuvenate the theme. I'm sure, if TLC wanted to, it could whip up some fantastic ruins and a complementary submarine. As it stands, my favorite sets are from the first two waves. The theme took a turn for the worst with the dino fiasco and never fully recovered, even after the orient expedition. The first two waves are timeless because they involved dead civilizations. The second two, not so much, because they're more about the characters than what they should be, the sets. That's my theory, anyhow. Juniorization certainly didn't help, however. I heartily concur with you! But, a Roman or Greek expedition would be awesome. A huge assortment of new parts, and hopefully, accurate depictions of the ruins. I wouldn't be too concerned with what they picked, because practically anything designed by the ancient Romans or Greeks is beautiful. Ole Jonboy might even discover a particular relation to a deceased emperor...
  5. Ha! But why bother mounting something that dinky from your ceiling? :-P It's too small to inspire awe...
  6. i sware no one read my post... it had straight number facts in it for the past 4 years. NOTHING ELSE MATTERS in this situation. THERE IS NO DEBATE !!! LEGO has been loosing money for many years now... so, if it is true (that the stocks were higher than ever) then LEGO must have promised something to the investors... if they can't deliver, the company is in big trouble. LEGO hasn't proven anything in the past couple years, except they loose money. investors will drop out once the company can't meet their promises. here is a link to anyone is interested in the actually financial state of the LEGO GROUP: http://www.edinformatics.com/inventions_inventors/lego.htm - brick miner The thing is, those losses can be associated with bad set design. From what I've heard, the 2005 LEGO Company financial report showed a large profit regarding LEGO sales. Many of the 2006 sets are an improvement from previous set designs as well. Yes, the LEGO Company faced a huge deficit a while back, but what is its relevance? The question proposed is whether the LEGO Company is possibly facing another deficit, not whether they did lose money. A better question: Why is the miniscule LEGO shelf-space a concern, now? It's been that way for several years if I remember correctly.
  7. Why? The Kahilawayans have always had a boxy architecture. Go into my signature link labelled: "My BrickShelf Gallery" at the bottom of my posts, and see them. Ah, my mistake then. I'm sorry if I offended.
  8. I watched King Kong in the theater a few weeks ago. The movie is well paced and the beginning isn't nearly as bloated as some people make it out to be. The best part of the film is the insect pit. Gosh, I love that whole bit. X-D My only complaint is when the camera repeatedly does an overview of the natives' island. It just seemed so pointless... :-/
  9. Nice concept, but the SkyGate could use some arches. :p
  10. You lot have some entertaining stories. =P I managed to *close* the garage door onto my pinky at the age of four. The whole nail came off a few days later. At the age of five, while helping my mother peel potatoes, I skinned my thumb
  11. Arrr, that's a tad bit disappointing if this doesn't actually exist. It's nice to dream of such army builders, even if they are supposedly prototype models.
  12. Hear, hear, glyman! This little mecha is truly astounding!
  13. What's with that electric surge exiting the catapult contraption? ;-) In all seriousness this set is a nice addition to the collection of mega-figures, and it's considerate of the LEGO Company to include some basic bricks for the first time (If I'm not mistaken). My beef (besides the rampant juniorization) is the torn up cape. If people desire a torn up cape then let them customize it, but I disapprove of this relatively recent trend of hackneyed cloth, plastic and whatnot. The final verdict: 3.75/5
  14. It was posted in classic-castle.com a while back.
  15. It is my understanding that classic-castle lovers desire modularity in today’s sets. About that ship, I was originally critical of its design, but I think it’s started to grow on me to the point that I may need to purchase it. I agree with you, Willy, that those sails (whatever they are) are somewhat unattractive. I'd purchase a BSB if it wasn't so expensive. :-(
  16. Hmm, well in another article I found concerning the Tyco brand blocks it does mention a "basic patent" of the LEGO Company that expired in 1983: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyco_Toys) Their quality is indeed top notch, but their color schemes were a little funky. (I have a large sum of purple, pink, and orange Tyco blocks somewhere in the house...) Edit: Date mishap
  17. According to this: ((http://osgoode.yorku.ca/media2.nsf/0/521e908ca102e419852570c800514245?OpenDocument) Watch out, that guy is extremely biased!), the LEGO Company's last patent expired in 1988. This article provides a reason as to why the LEGO Company lost the case to Megabloks in the first place: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mega_Bloks). The basic gist is that because none of the LEGO Company's patents are any longer valid other companies are free to capitalize on their product design. And, as a patent is reserved for functionality, filing suit against another company on the terms of trademark is not viable. :-/ (By the way Mr. Phes, do you know what's happened to the Piratebricks forum?)
  18. It appears to be a combination of bley and old gray.
  19. I agree with hewkii9, as it would be a little pointless to bring up the whole astronaut thing in Spider-Man 2 without it alluding to another story arc. Until we possess solid evidence it's all speculation, so meh. Oh, and MJ didn't marry that guy did she? *checks his dvd*
  20. I'm not sure if anybody's caught this yet, but there appears to be another mini-fig with a classic helmet to the right of the battle of the pass picture. My eyes could be deceiving me, though...
