  1. Could we have some confirmation on this? It would be a tremendous relief to know that this theme is better than our current KK offerings. Is it on par with the vikings or even better?
  2. Wait, not chemistry? This freezing water idea though, is something that very few have posted topics about concerning the great LEGO brick. We need an intrepid investigator willing to take chances and to risk it all in the name of science!
  3. Excellent review, Mr. Brickster. Is it the lighting or are those blue bricks faded? They appear to be teal for goodness sake... (Was there a color change?) One of the more striking characteristics of this this set is the fact that only a single "whatchyamacallit" is attached to the mast. TLC seems to be a little stingy with the mini-figs in a set that costs $54. Everything else is good. 4.5/5 Isn't the recommended temperature "lukewarm" to prevent this from happening? Hmm, is there way to shrink LEGO bricks? Maybe freezing water?
  4. Evil Willy, that took guts! Alas, school, friends, and family always seem to get in the way of our beloved LEGO hobby. You will be missed, but I'm sure Phes can find another person to fill the void you're leaving behind. Good luck with your non-LEGO activities and whatnot, mate.
  5. Actually, Jin, if you read this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wild#Criticism It discusses the strong possibility of Madagascar ripping Disney off. From what I've gathered the general consensus is that Dreamworks is the ripoff company. We have to remember that Pixar takes many years to produce its movies. This also suggests that several movies are produced near the same time. (I believe there are quotes on this subject, but I've got no time to find them now...)While it would seem that Dreamworks produces its animated flicks one at a time to directly compete with whatever Pixar/Disney has to offer. I'm by no means a Disney fan, but I'm not big on Dreamworks either.
  6. Huzzah, pirates will no longer be predominated by eurobricks! :-P
  7. Interesting choice for a ship design. I don
  8. This latest cannon adaptation is quite convincing. The ship equivalent is adequately suitable. Something not so SNOTty is preferable, but the inclusion of train wheels is an inspired choice.
  9. Ahoy, mdoyle, welcome aboard! Take a seat and have some rum! I remember seeing the first folder over on classic-castle.com, can't remember if the creator himself posted about it, but I've never seen anything more come of it. The last one is incredible. The Monkey head is awesome. As is the ship diorama. Judging by the abundance of tan, I
  10. Mr. Tiber, where
  11. Ah, more customs, excellent! Like BM said, the qualitie
  12. Another fine MOC, Cpt. Roger. Out of your latest two MOCs, this one stands out more. It has more flavor to it, if that means anything. :-P Keep up the good work! D
  13. Yowsa, talk about top notch! These are wonderful customs, Sir Scot. At first I was a proponent of this, but I'm beginning to sway toward the anti-sub-forums-crowd. (even if it is bundled with the avatar and signature workshop forum...)
  14. The simplicity of the MOC is nice. I
  15. Surprisingly, Jojo, stated that he only used paper for all of his custom mini-fig outfits (ninth post down):http://www.classic-castle.com/forum/viewto...ear+customizing It's difficult to tell, but if you study the some of the protruding vests, they don't appear as 3-D than from afar. One wonders if he used any type of special paper for his customizations...
  16. Yes you do wear a shiney currias NOW, didn't you start as a soldier Mr Phes? And so we discover why Mister Phes never fell in love with the Castle Theme
  17. Mr. Bonaparte, why is it that you don't destroy your creations? Is it that you don't want your ideas for building techniques to be lost (In which case, have you considered recreating them on a brick program?) or is it the sentimental value?
  18. Yes, unfortunately (Everything's been so unfortunate... I need to find another word!) the Pirate Theme was not given enough time to take advantage of the possibilities! Well, it's good to know that you plan to eventually spend more time here! How is your site and how long is this To-Do list? (Excuses, excuses, excuses... :-|) :-D That has a name? Well it is nice, but the browless version is pretty funny (reminds me of an oriental :-P).
  19. So, would you support a UCS (Ultimate Collector's Series) type of pirate ship? We're talking a ship that'll be around 150 to 200 dollars, mind you. This question has been posed before, hmm, maybe we need another poll. :-P
  20. It's very normal that someone disappears from the forum for some time and then returns. I myself was on a 1 month holiday in the month of July. So it probably looked like I had disapeared. I'm not in favor of sending emails to ask for a response unless its really urgent. I'm not sure about this. Mr. Mathews has pledged himself to the pirate forum, so he owes the pirate fanatics the respect to notify us when he leaves (unless it's an emergency, like death for instance, but let's hope he hasn't made his last breath just yet! :-P). Maybe we need a shore leave button to identify pirates who will be away for a while? How does Mister Phes plan to address the issue of dormant pirate members?
  21. Ack, this thread completely eluded my memory. The improved uniform looks much better from the side. Is it difficult to outfit the minifig with the new uniform? Thanks for sharing your modifications with us! P.S. Is there a printable version you could share with the other decalers?
  22. Hmm, I'm no historian either, but what about the possibility of hired mercenaries? And a hearty Ahoy! to ye ConductorJoe. Have you been lurking the pirate forum? Will you be posting more often on Eurobricks? (It's been a while since I last you!)
  23. Do you mean to say that the stern castles never ascended beyond a third level or that after reaching that height if they were not level then instability would ensue?
  24. Ooops! I could have sworn you two were identical twins! I'll try again... Could it be? Have I found my long lost twin at last?! :-D What do you mean "by standard" Mr Syedow? A standard in design? A standard as in terms of quality? Or some other standard which escapes my mind right now? Yes, Mister Phes, a standard design was what I was basically getting at. To formulate an idea, read (er glance at) this thread. A "community ship" project would be a more complicated task, because for one, ships have a stern (and to a lesser extent, bow). Then there's the color coordination factor (a castle wall only needs to be grey to match the other wall sections). There's also the need to decide upon different standards for each class of ship. But it's important not to make these rules too strict as to lessen the creative abilities of our fellow Pirate MOCceteers! *pirate* :-D It might be fun to hold a contest to see who can design the best "template-standard" for each section of the ship (bow, stern, and the different levels of the ship)~{After the dimensions have been decided upon.}. Hopefully those could be adapted for the different ship classes. (As noted on the castle page, anything can be done with the walls as long as they retain the "standard". Likewise there should be a good amount of room for interpretation of the "standard".)
