The ship's size is very impressive. I prefer this version. Was there any purpose to rounding the sides of the previous stern?
-
Ah, so one of these would do the trick? It would be much sturdier, and you could even slip some elongated technic pins into them. I don't think you should rebuild this ship, because it looks great. But you might want to try this out in future projects.
-
Exactly how much wider would the masts need to be? As for lengthening them, 2x2 rounds are a good substitute. I like what this LEGO designer did, here for the masts: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Junie/le...06/p1050756.jpg

Do you own any of these viking torsos? I wonder how accurately they match the dark blue ink. Excellent! Both of them look quite good. I think I prefer the "union colonel", but that might change when you adjust the French Captain.
-
Technically, yes, the ship could house mini-figs in this scaled down version. However, that would be like me living in a dog-house. ;-) 10-11 midsections, hmm... This would be quite the monstrosity if mini-fig scaled.
-
Very well, Bonaparte. Is there any chance that you will design differing versions in the near future?
-
Aye. Are your designs close to completion, then?
-
Now that is frighteningly large! However I meant, scale, as in how large should it be to realistically house mini-figs? Sort of the LEGO version of "real world scale".
-
Both, I suppose? :-P

The bow of the Chinese Ship is surprisingly flat: I prefer the Chinese Ship because it has a superior color scheme and an overall solid construction. The other ship is certainly well thought out, but the color scheme is too sporadic for my liking. The second ship also reminds me of space for some reason... That's news! I don't believe anyone has posted that link before. The ship is very well sculpted. It also has the most complex rigging that I've ever seen on a LEGO ship.

Surely that other MOC wouldn't mind if you borrowed its doors?
-
A little later? 22 days have already passed..... Mr. Tiber, you must realize that AdmMatthew lives in a different time zone. ;-)
-
Very interesting, Mr. Bonaparte. I can't help but see a resemblence between the official Sail Barge and the top of the CSS Virginia posted above. Perhaps a rebuild is in order? ;-) Considering the depth the hull sunk into the water, were there any incidents of flooding?

These are pretty nice. Only Will sufficiently resembles his real life counterpart. "Jack Sparrow's face" looks like it belongs on a ninja instead. Barbosa needs a larger beard, and Gibbs needs a smarter expression on his face. He isn't that silly looking. ;-) IMO, Gibbs has the nicest torso decal. when its obviously not a LEGO piece... then its bad. if they are done well (and you have to double check your knowledge of LEGO) then customs are great. yes, a minifig should look like a minifig... even if its a custom ;-) this guy's decals are great, especially davy jones and jack (much better than redbeans 8-

I really like the fancy "ornamentation" ye have over the middle cannon ports. It would be intriguing to see that on a smaller scale over each cannon port.

Well, I found this site: http://www.militaryheritage.com/navyuniforms.htm However, I faintly remember Admiral Ravensburg posting a similar site, maybe even the same one?
-
Ah, very good! I am anxious to see what original ideas a man who primarily builds larger scaled ships has to offer. When do you expect to finish your ships, Admiral?
-
Jiminy Crickets, that thing is huge! Excuse me for asking if you've already stated so, what is the relative mini-fig scale of this ship? Mr. Ska, what conclusion have you adopted?
-
Mr. Tiber, I suppose this thread is in the MOC section because Evil Willy is asking us to present our mini-fig equivalent, which could be considered a MOC. (A very small one, mind you. ;-)) Now that I've acquired a better camera I should be able to post a picture of my mini-fig fairly soon.

Bonaparte, how do those stickers fair?

I was experimenting a bit with adding a scottish regiment to my english army. This is my first attempt of making a "Black Watch" soldier (found the colors at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_watch ): Once I'm sure that I'm satisfied with how it looks, I will make 10 of them. Here's the best image I could find after a quick google search: (They feature a different hat, however) I'd say you've done a very good job. Will you design a hat that resembles the above image?
-
That's quite the ship, Baron! You might want to consider posting your cannon design in this thread. I particularly like those sails. Very professional. We could always use another sails tutorial. ;-)

Did you post your decals or have some pictures for us? I too would like to know if captain hook has any decals to share with us.

Photo Review: 4499577 Viking Chess Set
Berry Syedow replied to Starwars4J's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I’ve never had the dissatisfaction of dealing with a glued LEGO part. Is it possible to disassemble the rook without damaging the LEGO pieces? (Ditto for the queens' toros.)? Very nice review, Starwars4J! The rooks don't necessarily concern me because they are bley, but useful bley is better than glued bley; the queens' torsos do concern me, though. I am very fond of the bishops' face and am pleased that four of them are included in this chess set. Besides the zwords, I am dismayed by the inclusion of pearl spears. I'd much rather TLC produce them in reddish brown. (Is there a secret policy forbidding TLC from producing old weapon molds in new bley/brown *wacko*? It's crazy I tell ya...) Once again, thank you for the review; now I'll know what to watch out for when I purchase a set. -
You've bothered to implant (and contribute) yourself into this community of ours, something a scammer probably wouldn't do. ;-) Mainly, I was implying that shipping MOCs can be a very hazardous process. Damage, loss, pilfering (by all of those UPS AFOLs ;-)), etc. It's a lot of hassle. I concur with you, JackDagger, us pirates need a port-project of our own! Before that materializes we should develop a standard, like that of castle and space. Something simple, like a dimension of a building and dock, so we can make a whole lot of them and snap 'em together. For forts, we could adjust the castle wall standard to our liking, or something like that...
