Nice finds! It's a shame my neighboring Kmarts were shut down. Wild Hunters is a good set. A nice selection of tan slopes and other pieces. IMO, the Battle Wagon looks~(because I only own that one) like the best set out of KKII, wave two. It has a lot of useful castle fodder and minimal bley, if it concerns you. The best knight, IMO, is even included and if you're a shadow knight collector it's a cheap way to collect them when on sale; particularly at a $14.50 discount, yeesh!

After some deep meditation I've come to realize that I probably should not have placed this thread here. I was a bit iffy about the placement because I wasn't sure if it would get the same amount of responses, and the fact that it is an animated skeleton, making it slightly pirate related. :-/ Willy's thread made me contemplate a few things. How would Eurobricks feel if we departed to found our own site? Is it even worth doing? If too few mates post in the other forum sections should we promote non-pirate related contribution as part of the "pirate ranking system". (yeah, that doesn't exactly make sense ;-)) Most importantly, how can ghoulrealm not like marionettes?! ;-)

Off the bat what strikes me the most is the ship's rigidness. I agree that a third mast would balance the ship out and the cabin’s height is a bit disturbing. But after my last ship, who am I to judge? ;-) Is there any particular reason for the shrouds’ placement? Lastly, do you plan to furnish the ship’s interior? The skeleton at the bow’s tip intrigues me. And where exactly is the Captain?! The ship’s aft is quite a slope-a-licious delight. I’d like to see a sharper image.

This is first time the squareness of the +4 hull has been so evident (to me at least). I think the squareness is enhanced by the lack of a midsection (coupled with no cabin), however I've yet to scrutinize one in person. Beside the pickle that is the +4 hull the ship is nice looking. The color scheme is the ship

Mmm, glad to see someone expanding the pirate wardrobe, and finding a use for those awful maxis, simultaneously (beside cannon fodder, ha!). I was hoping they would be genuine customs, but these are equally good! Can't say I'm partial to either.

Humorous introduction, Mr. Tiber! It looks as if the captain literally has a skeleton in his closet, or in this case the attic! What dreaded tale doth surround that bony fellow? It appears a combination of light grey, dark grey, and bley, are used on the first floor, giving it quite the authentic look. *y* The house accommodates plenty of piratical items, another plus. On the whole the house is the perfect habitat for any landlubberin' pirate. Well done!

Ahoy thar, fellow landlubber! That's quite the astounding collection. Enjoy yer stay, here!

What do you think of the HMCS Starwind
Berry Syedow replied to Admiral Starwind's topic in Pirate MOCs
Sounds awesome! Don't forget to add the minifigs doing construction work during the photo shoot. ;-) Will this dock be anything major or just a backdrop sort of deal? -
Inventive use of pieces, optimus-convoy! The hat is an ingenious use of the obnoxious rock piece. The same can be said of the Aztec gold piece for belt buckle. Unknown Artist, it looks like the cape piece is used for the handkerchief. Overall the model has a very striking image. Well done! *y*

A pleasant tudor house, this is. I like the tan a lot. There's a great amount of detail all around, such as the potions, bookcases, fruit/vegetables. Are those ears of corn in the barrel? That guy must not get much business for there to be grass in his first floor. ;-)

IMO, the main deck looks good in this color. I googled around for ship decks and came across a wikipedia article. It says that the seams are filled with tar to waterproof the deck (like Admiral Starwind said). It goes on to state that a "yacht or other fancy boat" might have a canvas and a coat of sealant put over the deck. No mention of a completely tarred deck. So, is that mandatory?

Yup, add me to the pro-yellow group. The ship is shaping up nicely. How long do you suppose it'll be until the real-world counterpart is finished? -

Aye, im with Phes here. The fantasy aspect makes it fun and allows more room for general creativity, while going too far (as they very nearly did in PotC 2) is just rediciulous and not much fun for those of us who like PIRATES. - The Lord Admiral Had TLC continued the Pirate Line, extreme fantasy would've been unnecessary for some time. There were still many unexplored avenues. A major one being the East. I never got into Islanders because they were too fantastical. Where were the huts? Or the rodents cooking over an open fire? Or silly dances around a bond fire at midnight? X-D Or hunting down food/fishing. There also seemed to be a lack of foliage. If they lived in the wilderness you'd think they'd have more trees and vegetation around. Were it not for the abundance of water I would think they lived in the dessert, for goodness sake!

The Great Gatsby is indeed a good book. I read it about two weeks ago. All of the vignettes are well done. Number 3 is my favorite. Where are Tom and Daisy? They played important roles. Oh well. :-P Vig on!

Well! It turns out that any letter arrangement of a word will churn out the same phrase. Also, a second and third repeat: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ glass=Pants-Down Elmer legos=Pants-Down Elmer ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ razor=Pirate Burt the Black hnzoo=Pirate Burt the Black ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The first tip off is that they both have the same letter count just like the previous repeat. Now look what happens when g+l+s are removed (from glass+legos). (It's geometry all over again!) As initially suspected certain letter combinations are assigned a value. For programmers this may be nothing special, however the clueless may find it neat. (Like me. :-P) g l e o s as=eo g l a s s Now we have a list to fill! as=eo rar=hno pig=ram

Welcome back, oo7. *sweet* The Islanders vs. Conquistadors is my favorite. Mainly because it includes conquistadors, which I have one of. Nico-strassburg's chess set can be credited for including a pleasant mosaic-like board.

Thats exactly what meant for the trunnions It looks good as is now, but I believe Admiral Starwind also wants a neck and knob on the cascable. That is where the control stick comes in, but I'm not sure exactly how to proceed with that. The should stick out of the round base but pushed half way into the barrel, however won't fit into through the top of and half way through at the same time Here is a site defining the parts of a cannon. Ah, I understand now. Thanks for providing that link. Hmm, much pondering there is to do, now.

That does sound wonderful, Brick Miner. If only all of the pirate fans could collaborate at a Brickfest like meeting and display all of their MOCs. It would be glorious! Classic-Castle.com has quite a few standards for displays. Methinks the Pirate Forum should develop such a system. (Dealing with forts, ports, and whatnot.) It

D.O.S! That'a classic! For sure. ;-) So this is what Captain Syedow looks like! Its a wonder he has found his way into signature or avatar yet. Hey, I'll request an avatar if you think I've contributed enough quality posts. They are made from classic printing paper. :-P The "cheap paint" decision was due to time constraints, and the fact that I was experimenting. (And I was anxious to finish my first Pirate MOC... over a hundred posts and nothing to show for it. :-|) Speaking of which, I've come about some interesting techniques, (One involving salt in particular.). I'm simply having trouble replicating the effect, sufficiently.
