ASK HERE How to clean your LEGO sets/parts?
Modulex Guy replied to jngunsw's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Just as an FYI to those who have LEGO that has smoke smell, OXY Clean does an amazing job at getting rid of the smell. I've cleaned lots of LEGO and Modulex that had smoke smell by soaking it all in water and OXY Clean and the smell is completely gone. -

MOC: Hidamari Apartments from "Hidamari Sketch!"

No pics of the interior because its really bland and not meant to be opened, but I'm planning on eventually modeling the rooms like the show too. And yes, its built to minifig scale since it is going in my city display where it will be on display this weekend at our NILTC show at Cantigny in Wheaton. -
How is it not a MOC? the Builder created an entire detailed snowy base for the Winter Village sets, that makes it a MOC in my eyes. Its the same as people making a street to compliment the Modular building line too. I say its wonderfully done and a great home Christmas Village scene.

MOC: Hidamari Apartments from "Hidamari Sketch!"
Modulex Guy replied to Modulex Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Like how everyone in MC builds flat roofs, yea, it kinda looks like something that can be made in minecraft. I have a few minor details on the inside already, since this is a building that is part of a larger city display, there is no need for more since it might not be seen. Thanks! Yep, from all the pictures of real buildings I've seen, this looks close to them all with the exception of the colors. And I have no idea of how many pieces are in it, all I can tell you is that the walls are all 1x2 white bricks and the whole roof is 1x2 orange slopes. Thanks again! It pays to have a Pick a Brick wall close to home, all my buildings are made with 1x2s or 1x3s to give it a "bricky" look. -
Eww, that looks like something that came from the Jack Stone line, or something that belongs to one of those McDonalds happy meal toys.

B-RV-15E Hey all, I'd like to share my Latest MOC of the Hidamari apartment building from the popular Anime series "Hidamari Sketch!" It is an almost exact replica from the series, everything down to the colors and even the electric boxes are built. Hidamari Apartments by ChrisR18t, on Flickr Here you can get a glimpse of the building in the background: It was actually rather tough to model because the building changes in slight variations in color and details per episode. I focused on the details and colors that appeared the most throughout the series. Hidamari Apartments by ChrisR18t, on Flickr Another screenshot to show the colors of the doors, note that there are no electrical boxes like my MOC, but in many other shots in the anime, they are there. The big variance that occurs in the anime is the colors of the back windows, in many shots the colors of the frames are dark blue for all the windows, while other times they were matching colors to the front doors, I went with the colorful option as it gives the building a more "pretty" look to it. Hidamari Apartments by ChrisR18t, on Flickr Hidamari Apartments by ChrisR18t, on Flickr I also put in some lightly detailed interiors so you can at least see there is something on the inside versus just a hollow shell. Hidamari Apartments by ChrisR18t, on Flickr I have some more pics on my Flickr, comments welcome!

I love the way you built all our vehicles! Lots of detail and intricate building! Also the curve on the gas station roof just flows so well with the design. Well done!

I like the sound of this idea!

LEGO themed names for town's pub / hotel / bar
Modulex Guy replied to Luke_likes_Lego's topic in LEGO Town
"Stud on the Rocks" "Tilted Brick" "SNOTty's Pub" -
Ahem, don't tell me you are talking about my Modulex are you? Because Modulex is a LEGO brand. And also just to add to my reasoning for a new section is that sometimes people, like me, who buy mixed LEGO lots find obscure off-brand bricks and a place to post an ID thread would be helpful. I feel that if I were to post them in community, the thread would be buried amongst all the rest of the discussions in there. There are also lots of vintage non-LEGO brands (not Modulex, Modulex is LEGO) out there that would be interesting to have a database of. *** As I typed the above Hinckley has spoken! Looks like the decision is made and off-brands will just stay in community ***

So this has crossed my mind about suggesting a new sub-forum for EB to have a dedicated section for non-LEGO branded building sets to maybe have some better organisation on the forum. Right now all the clone reviews, discussions are in the community section which seem to me as a disorganized mess. there are birthday threads, clone brand threads, off-topic discussions all mixed into one forum and sometimes makes it difficult to search the mix of threads. If there is a chance for a new sub-forum, I would not want it to be a bash section for the non-LEGO brands, but as an information section. Making people aware of new bootlegs out there, clone brands, moving the review threads into one organized section. Like having the Kreo, MB, Cobi, NanoBlock etc. threads placed in one section. Also to use this as an ID forum for people who found off-brand bricks in mixed LEGO who need some help to ID them. And I know I know, this is a LEGO forum and off-brands are not welcome, but these threads do come up and get mixed up in the community section. I also would not see this kind of section to be a hinderance to EB at all, these kinds of sections work on other forums too and do not take over the main brand loyalty of a forum. For example the Hot Wheels only forum does have one sub-forum for Matchbox, Jada, Maisto brands and it works for them. I think it would work for EB too. My idea would be to keep these discussions in "Community" But just to make it a sub-forum, like "The Bazaar" sub-forum in the Buy, Sell, Trade section. I'd like to hear a Moderator's or Admin's opinion towards this.

Survey: New parts and new colors
Modulex Guy replied to Bonaparte's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I have a few part requests that I'd love to see LEGO create, one would be corner cheese slopes, and another would be Inverted cheese slopes! -
<--- Test! I think my old self is back?

Collectible animal series!!! I'm buying these by the case loads!

Major forum upgrade being planned
Modulex Guy replied to Bonaparte's topic in Forum Information and Help
With the upgrade, is there any chance of having a "shoutbox" chat on the bottom of the main forum page? Its like a instant message box where anyone can write something and chat. A bunch of the forums I'm on have these and it might be cool if EB had one. -

Modulex Guy replied to Bonaparte's topic in Forum Information and Help
3 hours to two days without EB!?!?!? why... WHY... WHY!!!!!!! What am I do do?!?!!? Just kidding. Good luck with the upgrade, I'm looking forward to a new layout and hopefully it will be a flawless transition to the new software. -
I'm going to have to get a bunch of these to make a nice long train! Looks awesome! And a fairly good price too for a nice looking set!

Best deal I have ever gotten was probably my UCS Millenium Falcon MISB for 250$ Or it could be my LEGO Wooden firetruck for 70$... I also scored big time on a massive Modulex collection a while back for... well, lets just say it was a darn good deal.

Don't paint it, total waste of time and money. I cannot see any pics of your bike (assuming it is a motorcycle), but I say get it Vinyl Wrapped! Its Cheaper, easier to put on, can be printed with whatever design you want. Find a reputable sign shop, bring in images of LEGO you like, and they will print a wrap, most shops even install it too. Easy to clean, almost scratch resistant, 100% removable, does not damage paint underneath. This is about as wild as you can go with wrap! Motorcycle Itasha Vinyl Wrap all the way!!!

What non-Lego building stuff are you willing to suffer?
Modulex Guy replied to BrickG's topic in Community
Only non Lego product I can tollerate is Nanoblock. The super tiny bricks from Japan. I like to build with them as a desk toy if I do not have anything better to do. I just have a few of the sets and think the quality is good for how small they are. Other than Nanoblock, I'm a 100% LEGO purist collector/builder. -
If I took all the money that I have invested in my LEGO/Modulex collection, I could be driving a Ferrari! And I'm completely serious too, granted it would only be an entry level 308 in need of some work, but a Ferrari none the less!
