  1. Update: Finally, all the hoses for the active suspension are mounted and routed. I can work on the main deck and mudguards. Superstructure is almost done. Inner boom sections still to come. Back section (where the engine and radiator is on the real machine) will be a deck for a BB, receivers and compressor unit. Hoses are already there. gray for front axle, black for 2 back axles. Initially I wanted to have each wheel independently controlled, but at the end, i would have to have six switches.
  2. Welcome!
  3. Welcome to EB!
  4. I am not into the minifigures very much, but I get you when you say spending a ridiculous amount of time! :) Welcome!
  5. A little bit late, but Welcome!
  6. Then its great! I was afraid that it would look too much sporty and low to the ground.
  7. Great for a road truck, but perhaps a bit too low for a crane truck, but it maybe form the angle of the photo. How much is the clearance beneath the mudguards?
  8. No need to say sorry, i am very glad to real all the comments, positive or negative. Regarding fitting to some specific style...I dont feel the need to place this moc in any particular theme. I just thought for a week what would look good (imo) and start designing it on paper, on mlcad, and later with bricks. As Jennifer said, it looks most like Miniland, which I find very nice! Important thing is that this machine has function all over the place. About the cabin and glass, yeah, i know what you mean, but i just love those glass pieces on the model. I fully agree. There would be a ways to see the interior :). Thanks for your input :) Big thanks! And I cant believe these words are coming from a builder that brought me back to Lego! :)
  9. When I tried cheese slopes, I got non organic shape, to say in that way. It just looked too straight. With 1x1 tiles, it looks more like a curve. Stickers...aslo, i think they give more curved look and clearly separate glass from the body. Thanks John, again :) Oh yeah, it does have few features. I will post a video tomorrow :) Thanks, man! Thanks, Rock! Yeah, tried it, looks much worse as it looks too straight. Exactly! :)
  10. Yeah, only Lego parts, including BB and boat weights, are allowed.
  11. We have seen before that smaller, but more smartly created entries can be better, and ultimately, win the battle. It may sound corny, but main goal here on the contests is to have fun. Prizes may have motivational kick, but at the end, the best part is enjoyment while searching, designing, building, testing and improving your own build. And of course, competing with the other guys doing the same. For this Crane contest, one of the reasons for a somehow lower number of entries, so far, may be that cranes are really one of the toughest builds with Lego. Regarding your skill, not a single pro builder on this forum had all the skill and parts from the start. Patience and persistance is the key imo. Entering contests and also building yourself is a great way to advance.
  12. Simple and very effective. Nice collection of liftarms! :) I like how rectangular and straight it looks, without any bending!
  13. New update: Cabin is done, and it is one of the best cabins I have ever done. It hides a detailed interior and motorized mechanism for tilting a whole cabin when it is extended and raised. I will post a video in a day or two to show you that, and one few more nice features of this cabin.
  14. I dont see anything superhuman in fast set building or mere mortal in slow set building, nor i think it is important how fast you build, and certainly not worth to be affected by that. Take your time, and enjoy the build in pace you like.
  15. You need strong central beam-box, it needs to be at least two bricks high-thick. Best to use studded bricks. The solution on your picture wont work, it wont be able to hold even itself.
  16. Hey, Welcome, very nice work and very nice photos! About EB, i would suggest you to check these out: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=74805 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=71241 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=18583 Link button works for me, what exactly are you having problems with?
  17. Welcome to EB!
  18. Welcome, SciFi fan!
  19. As other said, very nice filling and covering!
  20. Here is the best I could find: It is 2 studs thick. Thanks for your opinion, John! That was my thought, too, at least this entry will be a bit different because the wheels :) I have used the Ferris wheel in one of my big wheels design, and that it occured to me that it can be used as a very stiff base for a turntable rollers, as there is often very limited space to make strong flat surface for a rollers to move. Thanks for the wheels ;)
  21. Great as a turntable rollers surface as it is one piece, large, and thick, so it does not bend. Thanks!
  22. Yeah, that is a idea. But due to enourmous weight, maybe it is a good idea for a tire to slip sometimes, rather then to break gear of diff :) UPDATE: I know, terrible photo... Turntable, superstructure layout and motor-bank are done. Now testing boom with cylinder, to find optimal position. 5of 7 motors in the supersturcture are placed, but will secure them permanently at the end. If I get to finish this on time, it will probably miss some advance boom design and 2x lattice jibs.
  23. Wooow! Awesome entry! It was my old project, but never started it. Glad you did this!
  24. Looking awesome! Shape of the superstructure is very nice. I dont like the overall colors at the end, though. While red and white works very well here, I think that outriggers may be a bit too mych, regarding mix of those two colors. I know that should represent danger stripes, but i feel like outriggers should be solid color, like black, just to break it a little bit. I think it should look much better. Once again, great model! Waiting for a video!
