  1. yes, i noticed this quote from the article... and couldn't help but think, this guy might have been the first to come up with the idea of a LEGOized ghost town... congrats to him, its a great idea !!!though, currently im not very happy with my interpretation... im hoping these new skeleton horses from castle 2007 can breath some life back into the theme for me ;-) ------------------------------------------------ two past EB thread come to mind here...Ghost Town inspiration thread. and this one... Historic MOCs/Themes Inspired by Movies, Share your inspirations for historic MOCs and themes. i remember we talked about being inspired by movie posters and not the actual movie... and my first encounter with a really scary ghost town was this movie poster. ------------------------------------------------ though, ghost towns aside... i also think you two write very similarly... maybe it's just the qualities of a well written piece that im noticing X-D - BrickMiner
  2. hmmm... ok, so the suggestion is that, if we remove the alcohol from the bar... then the bar is ok for children, and subsequently ok for an official LEGO release. i suppose that is possible. however, removing alcohol from the bar in a cafe (breezeway cafe) is much easier than removing the alcohol from a bar in a saloon ;-) it almost seems impossible on first thought... however, i think there are some steps that could help remove the alcohol from the saloon... if the bar-keep was rendered as a non-offensive character, and if no bottles where seen behind the bar, it would help... but it still seems like we are not quite there. what else could be done ??? any thoughts ??? - BrickMiner
  3. hmmm... that does make it sounds really good !!! BTW B... you two have a similar writing style. - BrickMiner
  4. yes, im surprised by how good of a little set it is !!! its so few pieces, yet every one seems perfect in its place. its hard to believe this was part of the same line of 2006 that included 7892 (hospital) and 7902 (ambulance car) which are far worse designed sets *wacko* i mean, a raised baseplate for a hospital ???- BrickMiner
  5. this is my first post in this thread... but a notable one !!! i bought my first city/town set in over 15 years today !!! ambulance 7890... to go with my Cafe Corner i'll be getting next !!! - Brick Miner (officially back into town, thanks to the 2007 line: 7991 and 7998)
  6. you've noticed this too ??? if you look at BL, even the WW sets offered from NA sellers are European versions (aka... with shooting cannons). some even note it in their descriptions now (a few of them even changed there description after i posed the question a while ago.)and even here, on EB, there seem to be quite a bit of WW interest, from new(er) members... unexpected, but nice *pirate* ------------------------------------------------ BTW, 80 dollars for an 8891 instruction booklet... that is the craziest one yet gylman !!! - BrickMiner
  7. ok Suvie... just let me know. those windows and doors i mentioned are hard to come by in a very nice condition... i've been looking for months, i can wait a little longer :-D ;-) thanks, BTW (you'll be doing me a favor) - BrickMiner
  8. i really like yours hinkley... though it seems a little wide for "city" scale. i love the back-end (in fact it is perfect), the side mirrors, and the fact it has openning doors !!! (something LEGO seems to have forgotten about.) the only thing that seems questionable are the grill tiles in front of the windshield... what do those represent ??? - BrickMiner
  9. :-D :-D :-D normally i wouldn't post such a pointless reply... but that made my day :-D :-D :-D - BM
  10. hey berry, good to have you back !!! however, we already posted this news here... http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...pic=7258&st=555 however, this definitely deserves it own thread... so cool !!! -------------------------------------------------- im gonna wait to buy these in stores... i receive like 99% of my LEGO through the mail, and its just much more fun to go to the toy store and pick em up... its like being a kid again *wub* this is one thing i can get at the store, so im gonna take advantage !!! - BrickMiner
  11. same here... only i wish she had the pony tail piece... i really can't stand that long-male-hair for a woman. - BrickMiner
  12. hmmm... i think most AFOL agree. but if so, then there is no chance LEGO will ever produce a saloon that our hobby will appriciate... i can't imagine LEGO every making a bar.i still don't see why the saloon can't be an "entertainment house." i picture the kid friendly version being much like vegas is today, gambling and live shows... not that vegas is kid friendly, but more so than a bar :-D that is the saloon i could see LEGO making ;-) - BrickMiner
  13. hey, now those i like !!! especially since they follow the patterns LEGO introduced. nice head selection too 8-
  14. it seems that the two larger sets are available on US shop@home !!! http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.aspx?...93&cn=475&d=322 http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.aspx?...94&cn=475&d=322 but it looks like the rest of the sets will be available after may 22... http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.aspx?...91&cn=475&d=322 figures, cause i just want the little ones :'-( - BrickMiner
  15. i like that you made the CC studded, alex... to me, that is a must !!! however, are you considering putting this on a dark-gray baseplate, right now it looks like the buliding is growing straight out of the grass !!! - Brick Miner
  16. hey, everyone loves a bad girl, right >:-) - BM
  17. hmmm... i get an uneasy feeling about this... it seems to me, the designer tried to pack as many so-called "advanced" techniques into the design as possible... the result is a real hodge-podge mess. i think a lot of the "details" are forced, and therefore, result in a very unprofessional look. honestly, this looks like it was built by a fan, as in it is unprofessional. honestly, im surprised LEGO authorized this as an acceptable final design. now, i know that is pretty harsh... especial since this was built by a fan just like you or me... but i feel since this is an official LEGO product now, it can fall into the same judging criteria as say "mars mission" or any other officially released product of the company. in defense for the designer... im sure there was a lot of pressure, following up to the CC and all... what a tough job that would have been :'-( im sure they felt a lot of pressure to include "advanced" techniques... and what we see is the result. personally, i don't care how many or how few of these AFOL techniques are used in a set... i would rather have a well designed set, not an advanced one... some of the best LEGO sets ever were designed without these "advanced" building styles... IMPERIAL TRADING POST #6277, CAMOUFLAGED OUTPOST #6066, etc... -------------------------------------------------- BTW, what is that dino tail and whip thing supposed to be on the shorter structure ??? and a croissant as decoration... seems like a stretch. also, because of the technique used on the railing, it looks like it is made from rope... like a jungle-gym. i also don't like the tiling method used above the windows... looks very amateur. all the while, lovin the CC - BrickMiner
  18. thanks KD !!! but far from perfect, as my revisions have proved !!! with the second designs in place, now they are near perfect >:-) :-D yes, a lot of people critique my saloon for not building on the second level... i think what a lot of viewers aren't taking into consideration is that the table/chair/magnet system requires the dimensions of the saloon to be 20 studs wide, and there is no plate that is 20 studs wide... making it a necessity to use multiple plates to cover the area... this is a practice (stacking plates on one another to cover an area) LEGO never implemented in the 90's (the building style which i am trying to perfect). thus the hinges were a necessary resolution, the by-product is that nothing can be built on the upper level.it seems most don't understand this concept... or do, and would rather have the "action feature" removed... but that is the coolest part *sing* !!! and the entire concept of the design... without that the saloon is just any other, half-boring MOC. in any case, thanks for the brief reviews KB... BTW, a saloon revision is next on my plate after the train station MOC (which is going to be ready very very soon) !!! --------------------------------------------------
  19. here are my some of my customs (im sure most have seen these already, but what-the-hey): from GUNSLINGERS SALOON 6758: from GHOST TOWN'S HAUNTED PASS 6767: from STAGE COACH HOl-UP 6722: - BrickMiner

ya, your "digital signature" is fantastic !!! it seems your PS skills have really growing... the last thing i recall seeing was your adventurers signature. one thing i like about your work is that it is really professional... even if the building style or subject matter is not my thing... i have to give you props for professionalism and presentation. as for the MOC, i like everything (though as i said, this type of building style is not my thing ;-) ) except the center table is a strange shape/construction. overall, its fun to look at, and really, that is the bottom line when it comes to LEGO. *y* - Brick Miner
  21. ohhh... i could imagine this guy riding a swamp horse *skull* - BM
  22. thanks yoda !!! im really glad 7090 comes with a white horse... the image at lego.com shows a black one ??? i thought they may have changed it last minute :'-( i want some white horses for my Ghost Town, but i can't find a use for the black ones, yet. 7090 will be a great way to get some cheap white skelie horses *y* *y* *y* - BM
  23. sure, BL is ridiculously expensive... but still 1.50 USD on lego.com ;-) - BM
  24. welcome klaus-dieter !!! those are great ideas !!! be sure to keep posted to EB's Histroy and Adventure Forum in the next month - im publishing my WW train/station MOC and would love to hear your thoughs... our station concepts seem very similar !!! - BrickMiner
