  1. hinckley, i started the poll for you ;-) http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...?showtopic=9805 - BM
  2. at the request of hinckley, we have a poll !!! DO YOU PREFER 4 OR 6 STUD WIDE CARS ??? *feel free to expand on your poll idea, hinckely. personally, i have some interest in this... since, the 2007 city line has really captured my imagination. however, i like how LEGO is handling it now, 4 stud wide cars and 6 stud wide trucks. i even like the 8 stud wide 18 wheelers (though i know most AFOL think this it too wide). i like the variety, and think it adds a lot of dimension to town vehicle building. the variations between 4, 6, and 8 stud vehicles is one of the main things that captured my attention with the 2007 line. and why i am now a town collector again (though, on a limited budget ;-) ). - Brick Miner
  3. yes, after trying some initial drawings of the ghost miner and cactus monster last night, i think im confident i can do color drawings of all 7 characters (the 3 cowboys, ghost miner, skeleton, ghost, and cactus monsters) for my re-release of GHOST TOWN'S HAUNTED PASS 6776. im going to attempt to make the drawings look exactly like the 2007 castle character drawing on the website...my quest to create an original an authentic looking LEGO theme continues !!! :-$ and of course, these drawn interpretations of the characters will just me an addition to my usual photography and photoshopping. - BrickMiner
  4. :-D :-$ actually, i love the drawn versions of the minifigs on this site... and since i am an illustrator (most of the day), i might try my hand at this... i can imagine a really neat drawn version of the ghost miner *skull* - BM
  5. wow, not im confused :-P actually, i was wondering if anyone had (or would try) the old arms on the new skeleton bodies, not the new arms on the old skeleton bodies ;-) the only reason i was wondering is that this would make the arms look shorter, even though the hand slip would then be going the wrong way. though, i could see this being ideal for wielding certain weapons. you can see the original thread here... http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...opic=9731&st=15 - BrickMiner
  6. i think you were just a moment too late with the news again berry... as we were discussing this is the 10190 market street thread :-P as far as i can tell all the new pieces offered are from this new factory set. im glad they are expanding on the PaB, i have used it twice now. and hope to continue to. ---------------------------------------------- BTW, i did notice that with the addition of the new elements, some of the perviously offered prices went up. like the only old gray elements listed,... the 9V tracks >:-( - BrickMiner
  7. i've been think of doing an undertaker with office... very similar to what you have here berry.im just not sure if an undertaker should be placed in the standard WW setting, or if it should be better placed in ghost town. -------------------------------------------------- on a related note, i've been doing some research in non-LEGO western hobbies (such as gaming, and model train building) for more set ideas. i have come across a couple sites that may be of some interest to those building to expand on the town of LEGOREDO... http://www.wildweststructures.com/ this site has a great list of town buildings, with authentic construction. i believe each building is based on a historical reference. i know i recognize the court house from the legendary town of tombstone... his list includes a saloon, pool hall, barber, train station (freight), dress shop (for the ladies), courthouse, bank, livery/blacksmith, mercantile, doctor office, church, newspaper/printing office, gallows, telegraph, hotel, water tower, undertaker, train station (passenger), gunsmith, and marshall. -------------------------------------------------- another one, is this... http://www.erichotz.com/whitewash.html i guess its a miniature game, but the old west town could be a very helpful reference for a LEGO WW enthusiast. most of the same buildings featured in the previous site, are repeated here... but there are a few extra, like a land claims office (for staking a gold claim, i think this is a good and necessary structure for LEGOREDO). - Brick Miner
  8. the two can coexist, and i think that is what happened with me and WW (thankfully the connection was made, as it has turned out to by my fav theme X-D )... but the topic of this thread was the kid's perspective of the two themes, MM and castle 2007 (with a lateral comparison to KK2). i was referring to the concret example in the thread, not a hypothetical one.but i do agree, the best theme(s) are the marriage of playable story and set construction, i just wish the kid agreed ;-) (still can't understand why he would like KK2 over castle 2007 *wacko* whats not for a kid to love about skeleton armies, dragons, and wizards.) ------------------------------------------------ to sum up the AR issue: so, it sounds like we are making an educated guess concerning their continuation, or lack of :-D id say you are right, sne. i was just asking if we had "official" word yet. - Brick Miner
  9. i like these a lot ty... they look very LEGO-like to me. i especially like that you used an official LEGO face design as a bases for jack sparrow. it really helps convey the LEGO "feel". also, the use of varying line weights around the collar and belt help this. glad to see that you are trail designs are with the pirate theme... now you can bring these perfected skills over to the WW :-P - Brick Miner
  10. that is my second most desired new mold... id love to see a buffalo, similar to the three piece horses. buffalo are really a beautiful animal *wub* i know a lot of new elements were introduced in the 1997 WW line, but i think this was an important one that didn't get released. -------------------------------------------------- no, that is something assigned by the admin team.- BM
  11. to me, that set is just as much a western train as the "My Own Train" series of 2002. all are more of a city based steam engine... though, they do have hints of their western ancestors. since we are on the topic, LEGO did produce an actual western themed train though...http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?S=726-1 however i think it would be much of an eye-sore mixing it with the 1996 WW line. id rather use the My Own Train large engine... in fact, this was the set i bought as a base for LEGOREDO STATION... http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=4534-1 because i didn't own any train elements (like motor, speed regulator, track contacts) it was a prefect start for the MOC !!! - Brick Miner
  12. i think ole clint would have a problem with one word in this sentence... might :-P :-D thanks for the feedback Berry !!! - BM
  13. i see this is becoming my duty :-D thanks again for starting this thread, P. i have referenced it a few times now *y* - Brick Miner
  14. i know this is supposed to be the flagship set of the theme... but i feel its the weak-link, personally. with the other sets you get a lot of new. new as in a noun. this set is a castle, and by-far not the best one LEGO has produced, so it only stands as a downgrade to what has previously came. whereas the other smaller sets focus more on the new skelies and great new minifigs... and an evil skull tower is original to the castle theme. so there is a lot of new unexplored castle themes there. for me, it seems the set is missing either 1) some extra neat (small) features, or 2) a good sturdy design. i felt the kings castle (10176) was much better. but this opinion is based solely on images on the web. Brickster, how do you feel it stacks up to the 2006 castle (if im not mistaken you have both) ??? however, i would say my two biggest grips are that i don't like the plate ground, and would prefer a baseplate ground. also that the BURP's are two toned... that makes the set as a whole look cheap. though, if i owned the set, i bet the more flexible (cheaper plastic) pieces would really bother me... as im with B on this one, and hate them. ------------------------------------------------ since im not a fan of this theme as a stand-alone, i don't think i'll pick this set up any time soon. but thanks for the review none-the-less !!! - Brick Miner
  15. is there any hard evidence/info from LEGO that AR are actually done ??? though, i admit, there is little left to explore with the theme.- BM
  16. :-D the black horses look like anklesaurus (spelling ???). im not sure i like them.i'd like to see this barb configuration on a white skeletal horse... might look better. - Brick Miner
  17. so you're are another ??? how many of us do this ???BTW, my studs either face forward, or to the right (for elements that wont allow forward facing). - BrickMiner
  18. i actully like what LEGO did here with th 7900 supports... - BrickMiner
  19. i actually like wathicng TV (something i rarely do) or having a converstaion while i MOC. it helps me from getting too frustrated by imperfect designs. so, many times me and my girlfriend chat about whatever when im building... its actually quite rewarding !!! as for building anm official set, that is differenet, as im not going to get frustrated :-D . i definetiely don't time myself, and the longer i take on the build, the better... if i spend 60 USD on a set, i want to get my monies worth. so i try to take my time, i even make sure all the "lego" imprints on the top of the studs are facing the same way !!! - Brick Miner
  20. im wondering, is anyone going to try the original battle droid arms for the skeletons (in white of course) ???it's basically the same piece, except the old arm is bent slightly, and the clip is going the other way. i know wouldn't be optimal for holding weapons, but it would at least look shorter. have you tried this B ??? - BrickMiner
  21. city, AquaRaiders, new castle vs. KK2, SW (new MTT and AT-ST over old)... all are moving toward better set designs.so something must be said for having a theme that is well design, no matter the subject, castle or space. wait, it seems all SYSTEM style themes are moving toward better set designs, save MM *wacko* so, maybe its not a matter of castle over space at all !!! maybe its that kids do like simply designed themes, and the answer is that shallow :-D ------------------------------------------------ im not saying that is true, but im not even saying kids like MM mission over castle. id say we are making a lot of assumptions here. bottom line is which is selling better, and though i don't have any numbers myself, the castle sets are on backorder here in the states, and MM is not. - BrickMiner
  22. a tunnel would be awesome, wouldn't it ??? i'll have to see how the piece-count on the MOC goes. if im low enough, maybe the two mountains will connect overhead. that would be a fun set if it included (or was) a tunnel - BM EDIT: oops, i forgot to comment on the cottage... im not sure i would included this in the set, as i don't want the western concepts to compete with one another. i think the set should mainly be a canyon (or tunnel) for the train to pass through where bandits rob the train. then it should included some secondary elements... so unless the cottage was the bandit's hide-out, it would draw away from the "main" point of the set. i think the bandit's hide-out should be more like a shack and small camp.
  23. all of this discussion is actually pretty sad if true... as this tells us that sets design/construction is of little importance in the children
  24. thanks for doing some research in this area Berry... this is interesting... we should follow this.
