  1. I built it, it works perfectly, I still don't 100% understand how it changes the gear ratio, but it doesn't matter. As long as it works and it does. Thanks for helping me Doug
  2. The bigger the tires, the less space you have for motors and battery box(es) keep that in mind. BTW, who is making the first TC11 topic
  3. Hmm, I am going to have to try that out. It makes sense, but I cannot picture how to works. I think the idea of a gear inside a gear is what is confusing me. Thanks Doug, I will post my results once it is done.
  4. So I can't use a turntable as the main part of the planetary gear if I want to gear up?
  5. Wait, so how do you increase speed/decrease torque by using planetary gearing?
  6. So I started building my bot. My bot made me bleed. You guys better be prepared
  7. That is what I was looking for, can you post a picture of something like that? This is what I think of when I hear planetary gearing sorry if the picture is too big
  8. so basically its down gearing in the compact system? If I have a high output, and add a planetary gear, the output shaft will be slower with more torque
  9. I have seen them on this forum a lot for different applications, but I was never sure what it did for the machine/vehicle. Is there a mechanical advantage? adds torque/speed?
  10. I would hate to be a moderator of a contest, having to repeat yourself all the time for the instructions. Studded technic was asked about already and was already answered. It is allowed, why wouldnt it be
  11. I totally agree that the contest isn't about the monetary value of wining, it's about those medals you get I might just have to get an Sbrick or 2 now.
  12. I am in the same boat, but I just sorted out all my technic parts so that whenever I have time to build, I can without a problem. This contest is going to be to awesome to miss.
  13. Well, it looks like allan was excited for the contest and is done already
  14. This is gonna be awesome, no doubt about that. I do have some questions though. 1) Are we allow to modify the battery packs to give us more power? Sure we could add another battery pack to the model, but we have a space restriction 2) As "letsbuild" brought up, is the actual damage of the weapons going to be accounted for. He provided a great example. 3) I did not catch it in the rules, are videos required? Yes they would be great to add to the discussion topic for the voters to physically see what each function does. 4) Big thanks to the creators of the Sbrick, but is there a reason my the Sbrick category prize to worth so much more? I understand why they would want their product to be praised more, but I personally think the contestants using the Sbrick are at an advantage, 4 controls in a unit instead of only 2. Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining, just commenting. I can not wait to start, this is going to be awesome!! Happy building and may the best bot win.
  15. I was just adding to what is included in 42043 to give me 4 of each
  16. I do not think I am going to get a tank, I will just keep a compressor in whatever I am building. I agree that one pump wont be enough, I'll pick up 2 more so that I have 3, you never know what I will need. Same goes for the cylinders, you never know what you are going to need. I will just pick up a bunch of different sizes, sticking with only V2 stuff. As for the tubing, I will get 3rd party, that way I can cut it to the length I need. Here is what I am thinking to get as of right now; 1 42043 (includes; 1x11(1), 2x11(2), 1x5(1), pump(1), valve(4)) 3 1x11 cylinders 2 2x11 cylinders 3/5 1x5 cylinders 2 pumps 2 valves I think that will be a decent start, if I need more, I can always order another shipment on BL.
  17. If I go for pneumatics, I would want the new V2 stuff, so old sets are out of the question. If I buy a set for pneumatics it will be 42043, but if I decide to buy pneumatics from BL, I would get 42055 for the parts. Im lending more toward 42043 and a bunch of pneumatic parts. My next question; What should i get pneumatic wise? I have no idea what I would need. I would rather have a pump on the vehicle and not use the hand pumper thing. So keeping in mind what is included with 42043, what else would you buy?
  18. I always love the tractors builders made, and this is no exception, very well done. The tractor looks great. Do you have plans to build any implements for it?
  19. Hmmm Im looking on bricklink right now. I can get 42043, 42055 and some extra parts for less than $400. Do I click checkout haha
  20. I have a lot of parts already, I just want more. It might just be the right time to start getting pneumatic stuff.
  21. Is the only reason to get 42043 for the pneumatics? I think I would rather get a set and buy more pneumatics on bricklink. BTW, anyone know of someone on bricklink that has a good reputation and has pneumatics for a good price?
  22. I would get into the pneumatics, but I am afraid I would like it too much It seems a lot easier than using the LAs, you do not have to worry about about the gearing and whatnot. You might just have to convince me to get a pneumatic set
  23. My last topic has me wanting to get another set/ more parts. I buy sets mainly for the parts, some times I dont even build the model. I was going to get a 42043 and another 42042, but I am not sure. The 42043 comes with pneumatics and I did not really want to get into that, because once I get them I am going to want more and that could get expensive. But I think the rest of 42043 would be a nice addition. 42042 is again just for parts. The newest set I have is 42042, the being said, is there anything newer or same year that is a good value for the parts you get? I bought 2 42009 for the large amount of parts you get plus, I use the yellow often. I am just looking for advice. Thanks in advance
  24. Almost $300 for the tow truck, OMG
  25. Never even thought of him filling the boxes with Chinese fake stuff. Makes sense for why the boxes would be half opened. He is selling them for $50 less but I would offer him much less. I could just order the sets online, but I am always up for an adventure haha.
