  1. sorry for posting again for a poll topic, but I was curious about the motor. $50 for one motor on bricklink shipping from USA to USA is pretty expensive for me at least. Or I could buy multiple L motors for $17 each. For the size and output speeds comparing the two motors, honestly I think that the L motor is the way to go all around.
  2. How many contests do we usually have a year?
  3. I think Jim might be done with contests after this one, it got a little out of hand..... He will just pass it off to Milan to deal with the chaos
  4. I will post pictures proving that my bot is within the very strict restrictions. I think all of this discussion on the topic is uncalled for and some people get irritated when the rules are understood to be one thing when it is really something totally different. When the contest was first announced, I did not see a problem with using the diagonal measurement, but now that it has been talked about over the course of the entire time that the contest has been live and talked about more than any of the bots combined, I think that we are focusing on the strictness of the rules more than anything else. I have not been apart of a lot of contests when there is a size limit, was it a "fit it how ever it fits" kind of a thing? I will post better pictures of the bot fitting the 45x45x45 size restriction and go from there. This contest has been more of a problem than any other one I have seen and I think it is a bit ridiculous, after all, it is for fun. Good luck to all the contestants, we have some awesome entries coming in everyday!
  5. Looks good, the only thing I would change is adding weight to the arms like I did. We both had difficulties with drive/steering. I plan to rebuilt mine after the contest without a size limit, just to see what I can do. Mine really just needs more battery boxes for more power and so that I am able to use all 10 motors at full speed without any problem. Overall, yours looks more like son of whyachi, nice work!
  6. Will you be posting the finished LDD? I would be curious to go through it and see what kinds of compact building techniques you do.
  7. I always love following your builds, you are a very inspiring creator! I have tried building excavators in the past and never succeed, I can never get them very compact to where it looks like an excavator. I am seeing 5 motors, but only 4 outputs, is the 5th motor for rotation? Also, will have have the motors for drive built into the tracks? I would guess the battery box will be on the bottom like more LEGO model that it.
  8. 1. Son of Aminnich Cat A: SBrick The name of the main weapon is called Merry-go-Destroyer. The weapon is powered by 8 L-motors using wheels for the output to a larger wheel. I used the wheels instead of clutch gears because they were are strong enough. The drive is the same style as a skid steer, each set of tracks use an L-motor. In total the bot has 10 L-motors, 2 battery boxes and 2 Sbricks. The battery boxes built into the arms are loaded with batteries, but they do not supply power. You can check out the progress of my bot here.
  9. I agree with you, but it has been discussed multiple times and the size constraint stays the same. With 2 weeks left until the deadline, the rules should not be changed now. Plus, I think we have pretty awesome bots that fit in the 45x45x45 cube!
  10. I am not posting this to sell the bionicle, just telling my small cheap find. If I post about selling the bionicle, it will be in the for sale section. I only mentioned if anyone was interested to PM if someone here would be interested.
  11. I usually do not buy used Technic, but today I stopped at the thrift store and found a bunch of LEGO in a bin marked $6.97. I bought it and went home to sort through it all. A lot of bionicle (will be sold on bricklink eventually) and some Technic. I priced it out on brinklink with what I bought and If I bought everything on bricklink (not including shipping) it would have cost me $7.35. So now after I sell the bionicle, I will have paid for the Technic parts I got out of the lot. I do not know if any of you check your local thrift store for LEGO, but it isn't a bad idea to stop in sometimes. I am posting this to show you can get "cheap" LEGO Technic you just have to look. If you are interested in bionicle, PM me
  12. Are we allowed to reserve a spot? Or do we have to post everything for the initial post
  13. As a technic moderator fancy pants, are you allowed to be favorable to a contest entry? mum just messing with you Milan, you are right this bot looks tough
  14. I was going to have him included in that post, and complain and complain that it is not open yet just for some fun, but I'll go easy on the new guy. i would think this weekend would be a good time to open it
  15. It is really starting to come together. Nice video too. I have been trying to work on my final video for presentation, but I am learning as I go. Looking forward to more progress.
  16. I hope the pay increase was worth it! Congrats Milan!
  17. After doing some reinforcing on the arms, I decided to test out what kind of damaged this thing can do.... I was planning on building a simple brick built wall and to to break through it. Built the wall, started up the bot, trying hitting the wall..... wall flew out of my hand, bot hit a full water bottle and dumped over my soda can that I just opened. The bot made a mess on my building table. So, after cleaning up bricks and finding my water bottle half away across the room. I figured I would put my bot up against an empty aluminum can since in emptied half of it for me... The Sbrick app wont let me have 2 apps running at once, so I could not record the action this time, but I have before and after pictures...
  18. Nice start, I have a quick question though, how are you planing on reloafing the rubber band each time? And how long would that take? I would think for you to get the most potential energy out of the rubber band you are going to need a lot of torque out of your LEGO motor to pull the rubber(s) back for another shot. Just something to keep in mind. Looking forward to progress
  19. Makes sense, looking good!
  20. I thought you said the servo was stronger than the m motor? Why use the m motor than?
