Ragnarök Now - Day Five
Chromeknight replied to MagPiesRUs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I am glad we have now settled that I am the inventor. That I have not lied about that or fake-claimed a role. It seems I've been a bit trusting all round. Trusting Finn, (vindicated) trusting Hervi (fail!) approaching bergulf... Why Finn? He called me out on day one about the vote on Wilhalm. That started us talking. I played a previous school with him, I needed someone to trust, I took a leap. Never make that mistake again. Thanks for rubbing it in with 'Finn didn't trust you either' Why Wilhalm? He was on a list of sheep Dragmall suspected. But Hervi warned people off voting him. In thread. And Hervi was smart scum. He would never protect a fellow scum so blatantly. (don't give me any reverse psych over that. I'm explaining my[/] thinking, not yours.) therefore Wilhalm was a very low probability of being scum. Plus an invention might move a silent sheep to an active and helpful townie. As for knowing whether or not Finn used his gift. He told me something went weird with it night three. The night he was blocked... Perhaps we should take a closer look at that night. As for killing him. Huh? I don't think I'd make that play if I were scum. Surely I'd keep him around to verify my "claim". Town inventor? Or not? Let me unpack my role fully. Likely you haven't got all the details. Target a player, granted a random one-shot night ability 30% chance No effect, 15% chance each of Bulletproof or Ascetic, 10% chance each of Watch, Protect, Track, Block. I asked straight up, self target (no), repeat target(yes) Yeah, that's a scummy list of powers, not. Does it suck it's random? Yup. Does it suck that three times in ten its useless?Yup. Is it balanced? Ask Odin. Hervi, and multiple names. Hervi writes play including my words to Bergulf calling me Demeter. I worry I could be called out as scum over that. So I come forward explaining my words, owning up to Demeter. Should I have not? Then because I foolishly trust Hervi, I reveal to him I am the inventor. He code names the inventor Hephastus. Clearly he's not going to say Demeter is the inventor, since everyone paying attention knows I'm Demeter. I figure it's more protection for me. I'm already Demeter, no one is going to come hunting for me as the inventor. Then it turns out Hervi is scum and they know I'm the inventor (since I was blocked night three). So we're here on day five and I'm saying everything in thread (just like Snotra wanted) because there's no point hiding anything. I'm clean, and my words shine light on other lies. -

I think the plan of the raider is sound, but perhaps others should speak up before we work out an order of attack. And you rogues should stop messing about picking up gold and do some damage. Without the Pheles rod, we need to be careful. No bombs! No spell bursts (not that you mages can control that!) -

What was the first thing I said day three? Hephastus was blocked last night. Either: I am Hephastus and was reporting with certainty about what happened to me, but reporting as if I was not Hephastus in order to not reveal definitely to the scum that I am the inventor. Or: I am reporting on someone else who is Hephastus. If so, surely there'd be a reason they'd trust me. Or: The whole thing is made up. But how do you explain that Finn confirmed that I did do what I said I do? Which is it? No way that sort of thing would be possible. You speak like the all knowing All-Father. We've already had the story of an investigator that investigates by comparing two targets (must be a bus-driver, that's the only role that targets two!) An inheritor that must target the investigator to become 'live' (surely that's made up. And convienently removed that same night too!). Is what I'm saying really so beyond the ways of Odin? Really? Oh, wait. Does my action not working frustrate you? It bugs the hel out of me. Maybe that's why I'm a bit snappish first thing on a new day... As for conversion... OK. Left field. How do I even answer an accusation like that? Let's look at the nights. Typically conversion is done instead of a kill. But there have been two kills each night. One for the scum, one for the town. When is this conversion meant to have happened? Can we politely ask for the role-cop's identity? It's a damn sight more suspicious role claim than a verified claim of inventor. -

I forgive you, for you have the details wrong. I do not know for certain, but it very likely Hervi knew about Bergulf from day one. So I revealed nothing. Nor was I a close ally of Hervi. Yes I spoke with him and thought he was town, but he never shared much information with me. At the time I thought that was him being cautious. Now I know it was him being evasive. Here's where I don't follow you though. You complain that I spoke some with Hervi. Hervi turns out to be scum. Now it seems the town block doesn't trust me fully yet. How is that chain of events strange or confusing to you? Yes. I get that people are supicious of me. Yes, I am working on doing what I can to demonstrate my loyalty. Yes it was an honest mistake. Is Gerrid's doing the same thing, yet being scum, evidence for my scuminess (must be a scum plan! Because Hervi points out it's an inattentive play) or evidence against my scumminess (how likely is it that two scum would make a mistake like that?) And how did I respond to being called out? Vagueness? Nope. Finn called me on it on day one and I was upfront. It was a mistake. Is it possible day two was a front? I guess. Does it being possible make it so? Nope. I am sorry I missed some questions I was asked about that. Please refresh my memory and I can address them now. Inexperienced? This is my first full gamebattle, as opposed to some who have done battle many times. Sure I was in school for while and did well. However, both schools I was a bad guy. Not exactly the best training for helping the town well. Oh wait. Maybe that might explain some of the inconsitency you've spotted. As for knowing what's going on... sigh. Read above. Due to my association with Hervi mid day two, I'm not automatically trusted. So yes, I know less of what is going on. My comments on day three were to have been based on information from Hervi. Oh, but wait. Day three raises the strong suspicion that Hervi is scum. His information can't be trusted. Oh. I have nothing to say. Is Hervi really scum? Have I been sucked in? How stupid do I look? Am I frustrated? Do I feel like I've been cut out of the game? I don't understand your statement here. Is it an accusation? or observation or...? Sigh. Yes. Saying Hephastus is town was a mistake. It's a mistake because last night it was made clear the scum know I am Hephastus the inventor. But saying that I know Hephastus rather than claiming directly in thread merely confuses others like you. So, my knowledge about the inventor's allegiance is not evidence of my scumminess. As for not trusting you, are you surprised? You admit that your play style is abrasive. I have tried to respond to all the points you have raised, but it is difficult to work out what you are attempting to do. You say I frustrate your attempts (to play for town I assume) but this is just a difference of playing styles perhaps? You have pointed out that Hervi gave out a lot of true information amongst the false, the true consisted mainly of statements like 'I played this way in game X, I was town there, I am town now'. As for keeping the killer around, one of my lessons which I believe you were a part of, I argued for keeping the serial killer in that game, believing his agenda could be used to our advantage. I was wrong. And I have learnt that lesson. I agree that the killer did the town's work last night. And that with 13 Einherjar still around, we can afford whittle the numbers more. Hmm. Do you think this observation could be the crux of the disagreement between Dragmall and I? Could that be why I 'turned' on him and expressed mild suspicion at the end of yesterday?. Here is my response. Your suspicions are your own and so is your vote. Sensible heads have assured me that you are trustworthy and that my antipathy to you is unfounded. Hopefully the same people will communicate the same message to you. -

Sigh. Obviously I'm not calling for public disclosure. And don't call me Shirley. My statement betrays my suspicions or my statement cause you to be suspicious of me? If the first, that the intent. If the second... My odd statement yesterday is a result of a discussion with Dragmall about the best way to proceed yesterday and disappointment that the best case yesterday was 'Erik is a sheep, he's not confirmed, therefore lynch'. The testing of Dragmall was not to do with the innocence or not of Erik but with my disagreement with part of the plan. I have looked at the numbers and withdrawn my objection. -

So we have learnt that Stemid, Finn and Erik are loyal Einherjar. Presumably the Servants of Loki have less places to hide now. But equally, they are that much to achieving their goal, the death of us all. I am looking forward to hearing what you all got up to last night. -

You will not be able to hurt him. But keep him from hurting anyone else. De'kra! That Ravager is unmarked, you can do it! And you, floppy hat guy, If you are finished playing dead, maybe you can stop that skeleton? I was going to let one through to land on Benji's counterstrike gloves, but it looks like they don't do elemental damage, so wouldn't hurt undead, right? Sorry for delay. I meant to have this done this morning. -

By my count there are 6 hours left and votes are tied at 3 each for Stemid and Eric. At this rate a non-lynch is starting to become a possibility, I have been reluctant to place my vote, and it's been pointed out to me that is not helping. So. After reviewing the above, it is clear that Dragmall needs to be tested. The best way to do that is lynch his sheepy candidate. vote:Eric the boneless (etzel) -

Finn is concerned that he is the Juno Hervi was referring to. He is not the protector. Therefore the protector and Juno are likely not the same person. Is broadsword working with us? I haven't seen any announcement from him in thread that that is the case. What are his win conditions? Did he previously have an alliance with the scum thy has folded? How does he chose his targets? As for me wanting to keep power roles secret... Isn't that how this game works? Until I know exactly what the scum do and don't know, and by extension who the scum are and therefore who I can trust in this game, I'll be pigged if I'm going to blurt in thread the small amount things I do know. Why is this such a big issue? Is it a trust thing? Is it that some people don't trust you and you feel locked out of what's going on? Or do you have deeper motives? -

Sorry Quarryman. The free hit was my fault. Alexander targetted the scorched skeleton, but when I copied into the battle order, I missed the scorched. Also sandy, Nerwen is not a Druid, she heals, not nurtures. No big deal! And I don't think the pheles rod has enough health! Battle order when more have checked in. -

I think the answer to this has now come out. The way that it has come out may explain the reason for the delay. I think people do realise. Which is why it's difficult to sort out what Hervi spoke truely about and what he lied about. Part of the difficulty here is that Hervi is a difficult player to play with when he's town. I suspect he same is true if he's scum. His teammates may be overwhelmed with information and have trouble sorting out what is fact from what is speculation. Going around shouting about stuff in thread. Is a dumb move. Surely you can see that. Moreover there is a serial killer out there. Shouting to them, "hey I have a role" is an invitation to meet a broadsword since he wants to stay secret. -

If I was allowed, I don't think it would be a game breaker. At 50g a pop for an essence to take out one enemy it's quite steep. And incenses are not available for sale. It's the trade off of, 'do I use this now to instakill an underling undead (assuming all important undead are tagged immune to instakill) or do I save it for when his boss chews up my buddy'. That's a valid tactical dilemma.
-
I would have thought that it would have been covered by the note on all the undead: immune to sudden death.

Sküld and I will keep you standing! Also, Alexander, we cannot use bombs effectively whilst the demon carries that staff. We have to do this one on one. No he is not cleared in the sense that an investigator has investigated him and come back with a result. He has been working with town people and listening to their input and coming forward with information. Aside from the dumb mistake of trusting Hervi, he's been playing on the right side. Staying silent? Nope. That's precisely why he asked me to speak for him, since my name had already come up as a patsy used by Hervi to sow discord about Bergulf/Dragmall etc... I believe Hephaestus is an inventor, from what he's said. Which is an difficult role to fake. And Ascetic (immune to all night roles) is one of a handful of possible inventions. He says his night action was "unsuccessful". Presumably he was blocked, but possibly not. As for who is a servant of Loki, nothing leaps out of things Hervi PM'd me. Other than Petrus is likely town. Whether that's him being honest, or trying to guide me into the arms of the last Lokite, I don't know... -

Well, it seems like an open secret, and there isno harm in saying it now. Bergulf was Artemis, the town investigator. Which Hervi knew of course. Because Bergulf always asks Hervi what to do... The question is, did he get a result last night and pass it on before dying? And in other news I was speaking to Hephaestus. He was blocked last night. But then, Hervi knew about him too. Hopefully the scum blocker is now dead. -

The temple was not deserted at all. Holding Sküld's hand Nerwen quietly answers. Undead is a word for something that used to be alive but now is moved about by magic. Sometimes it's an magician who does that, sometimes a demon. Good question! I had to work out an answer that a 7 year old girl would understand, and still cover (almost) every case. Yes, but there are many aspects to Helvetia, and death is not to be feared. But fear the one who tortures those who should be at peace. There is nothing I can do here. This place is ground set aside for Zoot. My connection to Galadrya and Celebryon is tenuous. Shaun is controlled by the necromancer, to help him we must defeat her. Nerwen looked over the enemies. Even with so many, the heroes still outnumbered them, they could still protect Sküld. But such a range too! And demons and undead working together. Memories of Belril's rampage across the forests of her home rose. She forced them back and concentrated on the task at hand. They would need to act carefully to win this battle. When choosing your targets, remember, you can only hurt undead with an elemental weapon or spell! Do not target the rod the demon is holding. It cannot hurt us and if you mistime your swing you could be vaporised. If you have not taken potions, it is too late, unless you want to use smelling salts. Do not hurt shaun! We may yet be able to help him. Battle order to come when I'm back from work (9hrs) and some people have entered actions Handy guide to enemies Yes this is OOC, but I wanted to make sure everyone read this Mephisto: Demon/Icy. Use Fire,Earth or Light. Do not use Ice or Darkness Pheles Rod: DO NOT TARGET! (I mean it. Don't even think about it!) Sycamore Ziegfried: Undead/Dark. Use Light. Do not use Dark or non-elemental attack. Skeleton, Skeleton Knight, Skeleton Mage, Lichen Raider, Lichen Warlord: Undead. Use Light. Do not use non-elemental attack. Burnt Skeleton: Undead/Fiery. Use Light or Water. Do not use Fire or non-elemental attack. Zombie Peasant, Revenant Nobility: Undead/Humanoid. Use Dark or Light. Do not use non-elemental attack. Lich: Undead/Flying. Use Light, Lightning or Wind. Do not use Earth or non-elemental attack. Boggart: Demon/Vermin. Use Light, Ice or Wind. Do not use Darkness or Wood. Sybaris: Demon/Fiery. Use Light or Water. Do not use Darkness or Fire. Arioch: Demon. Use Light. Do not use Darkness. Shaun: DO NOT TARGET (like you need to be told...) -

Nerwen remembered the Oracle's words "Dreams are the mirrors of truth, Nerwen Calmcacil. But like mirrors, they can sometimes twist what is real and lead you astray. What you saw was a twisted vision from the forces of evil. When you get to the dark temple, you will find the black grimoire, but the powers it gave you in your dream come with a heavy price. Decide for yourself what is the cost you are willing to pay." The temple filled her with foreboding. The memories from the dream were hazy, but thought she recalled a shadowy figure lurking within. Either way, there was something about this place, it thrummed across her subconcious. There was power here. Power that could be used to great effect. Nerwen's eyes narrowed, trying to pierce the darkness. With a rush her breath came out and she broke off, turning to look at the others nearby. You are right Sküld, this is the temple of my dream. Perhaps you should drink that Grand Tonic. I do not think that building is empty. There is likely a reason Shaun has not been around. Sarick, how are you? I imagine you enjoy the heat, though possibly not the dryness. And you have been quiet De'kra, I fear we will need your skill with the blade if we are to rescue Shaun. Thalion? take this leather cap, it may keep you safe. Are each of you ready to go? Nerwen lends Thalion the leather cap(SP:1). I hope my post above didn't offend you Sandy, it was aimed at party members who hadn't spoken!
