Nerwen looked up from pocketing the gem to see Xander had indeed attacked all their enemies. Relayed by Vipera she also heard Atramor's call. He seemed to be one of the more aware heroes and his plan was sound. Xander, Isabella, I am going to meet the others in the front hall, you should be able to easily deal with the two guards remaining. Come on Denarii, let us go. Denarii and Nerwen move east. Fine. but there better be more bad guys to shoot at.

With a puff a note appeared in front of Nerwen and fluttered gently down until taken. She opened it and in pink curly writing was instructed Hold out your hand, please. Doing as bid a green stone dropped out of nowhere into her palm with a *Ting!*. Curling her fist around the gem Nerwen felt the trees; the pulse of sap, the flutter of leaf and the strong grip of deep roots. She smiled, her thoughts broken by Denarii's irreverent, Oooh! Shiny! Thanks Heroica lottery! Thanks Sandy!

Frustrated at her inability to hit, Nerwen draws a breath. Filling her lungs with air, she prepares power to heal denarii from the back row. Denarii, now standing on the floor, pulls back on her bow, readying an arrow for imperial guard f from the back row. Xander, now would be an ideal time for one of your frenzies!

Denarii loved the high ceilings of the palace. Almost as good as being outside. Flying up high, none of the guards could harm her and she could choose the moment to swoop. Did Isabella take damage last round, she's at full health? Now only five guards stood before them. Nerwen was quietly confident that this part of the battle was under control. Her concern was for the others. Despite her suggestions, the pale rogue was obsessively focused on one of the guards. Isabella! Break off. Take your phoenix essence and go help Cronk and William. I'm sure those beasts have soft spots to practice your mugging on! Go! We will be fine here. Questions are how one learns. Don't be embarrassed about asking! Players can sign up for as many quests as available. But can only be on one quest at a time. Usually heroes would indicate which quest they'd prefer to be selected for, but as always the choice of heroes is up to those running quests.

For the second time in the battle for the palace, Nerwen felt the music of the muses course out from her. She sang the ebb and flow of battle, the triumph of a shot flying true, the agony of defeat and plans bent awry, the clash of club on shield, the hiss of scales across stone, the cry of fear seeing a leader fall and the brash shouts of defiance uttered by dishonoured men now with nothing left to lose. The music bent around the heroes in the corridor, lifting their spirits, shining on them and healing their hurts. Nerwen drew breath, taking stock of the battle. Good shot master Skrall. The battle here is now all but won. I believe that Xander, Denarii and I can calmly deal with the remaining enemies, you could step to help the others elsewhere in the palace. Unless you wanted to delay briefly to help dispatch the elite guard. The cocky Rito chimes in over Nerwen's shoulder Yeah, ogre. We can handle it. You can scoot off! Nerwen clicked her tongue at the rude tribeswoman, before pointing her toward the remaining elite, standing boldly in front of the huddle of scared guardsmen. Denarii arrogantly strides in with her stone knife, slashing at the elite guard from the front row. Nerwen follows with her hammer, swing at the elite guard more circumspectly, from the back row. Please don't read this as me trying to take over, but I think the battle has passed a tipping point and the other groups will soon need help. I think it's better to send help early and risk prolonging the battle here than wait until every enemy here is defeated at the cost of seeing heroes elsewhere fall.

The archer was clearly more hurt by Xander's strike than he seemed. He collapsed quietly, leaving the numbers even in the fight for the first time. But the other battles were not faring so well. His knowledge of weak points and vulnerabilities meant he could do much damage to his targets. The Emperor was clearly hurting now. Nerwen spoke up, If you can, Master Skrall, try not to kill the Emperor, but incapacitate him. I know the country is in chaos at the moment, but giving him a trial by law will be a step to restoring trust in civilization and the rulership of the other Emperors. She stretches out her voice, directing power at Sarick to heal him. Nerwen heals Sarick. Denarii taunts the last archer Bet ya' feeling' woozy, can't see straight, can't shoot straight! Knowing that the arched would keel over in two rounds, she aimed at the remaining elite guard. Denarii shoots elite guard from back row.

In frustration Denarii screeched and drew another arrow, determined to take down the elite guard. Her hand barely trembled and the glint in her eye showed she was not to be taken lightly. The fight seemed to be shifting for them. Darting around the ogre to strike the first guard while keeping herself safe, she asked Skrall, The battle wears in our favour. I don not want to count Rito before they hatch, but perhaps Isabella could flee and take her phoenix essence to the trone room, where it is needed? Nerwen, hammer, back row, imperial guard A.

As the letters burst into existence in the hallway in The palace in Dastan, Denarii the Rito snatches one out of the air. Ooo! Shineys! Yes please! As she goes to sign her name, the knight, Alexandre calls out, 'you can't sign, you're an NPC' Who are you calling an enpees, hatchling? I'v ekilled more times than you. Even once a shirking throwing crusader. Nerwen speaks up Hush your tweeting. You cannot sign up because you are not officially a member of Heroica. Though I am sure you would be a worthy hero. Nerwen takes the letter from Denarii and signs it.

Sorry. somehow missed your question, I'll be more specific in future. Nerwen looked around. The battle was dragging on while other groups were struggling against the numbers of enemies infesting the palace. Now the Emperor's guard were encouraged and would be hitting harder. This round would be tough. She shifts her grip on her hammer and steps up to strike elite guard C from the back row. Denarii meanwhile lined up a bow shot on elite guard B from the back row. Attacking the Emperor this round, it'd be better to roll a special than roll damage...

I am not offended, I am simply worried about you. I'm not offended, just gently and humoursly pushing you to stay in character. Which, as you say, you kinda were. Perhaps there's a mismatch of styles. I prefer not to even pick out a wall as being the fourth one, other, I know, are happy to lean on the fourth way quite hard. In any case it's an excuse of character interactions, which is the point of this whole game.

I am not sure which god you follow young elf, but to Galadrya and Celebryon, there are no useless lives. Each one has a part to play in the great symphony, each one helps us find our own music inside. But it would be better to pay attention to where you are than muse on the purpose of life just now. Nerwen spoke gently, knowing that Alexandre could only hear the tone of her voice, not see her face. She wondered if the chaos of these quests was affecting him, that he would view everyone as playthings of capricious controllers...
