  1. For serious, the Red Team doesn't even have any kind of a proper set yet. There must be more waves coming, right? And more little fighters like the Swarm Interceptor. Sigh.
  2. Yes please. I like Galaxy Squad, but I wish there'd be a full on, non-Star-Wars space theme again.
  3. A good Scotch goes well with Lego.
  4. I think we all go through seasons of having more time and interest for Lego and seasons of ignoring it pretty completely, excepting those of us who make money from Lego. Of course Lego isn't a life priority, but Lego doesn't take regular practice or any set amount of time or money or travel. If you have to move or need more space, I'd definitely get rid of sets you're less attached to, but it's nice to have your favorites or at least minifigures around even when you're not paying much attention to them. When I moved out of the country I didn't have any Lego for a few years, then randomly decided to buy myself one of the littler Creator cars. And that was the only one for another couple of years. Another transatlantic move, I'm now settled longer-term and have a few more, including a couple big sets. It leaves time and space to work and party and date. Why not?
  5. Thanks for this review! I loved it when I first saw the Toy Fair pics, then decided against it, then broke down and bought it all of a sudden yesterday and love it even more than I thought I would. Just tremendously charming, and love the creative use of simple pieces--including the brick-built trees and dog, which feel nicely retro and artistic to me.
  6. Seriously impressed by this.
  7. This is incredible already. Can't wait to see what you do with the horses and whatever else you plan to build.
  8. For serious. If that's the case, I'll save a lot of money on CMF next year...
  9. Has anybody seen these around: http://instagram.com/p/dZJB72M-vn/ I'd seen the big yellow heads before and thought they weren't really my style. But a SKULL is next level.
  10. Wow. I'd be really interested to see these. Mostly because I'd love to think pirates were coming back...
  11. Amazing! Brilliant use of the mime heads :D
  12. Haltiamieli, I felt similarly after finally seeing some assembled sets in person at the Lego store. Dragon Mountain looked better than it had in the hi-res photos, the Gatehouse looked a little square and dull, even though I still like the detailing on the roof, etc. But I also know that I would have *loved* these sets when I was 9 or 10.
  13. Yeah, they've entirely dropped the big baseplates of the past for these "modular" builds so you can rearrange the elements. For the Vampyre Castle, I have to separate the front and back halves before moving it at all. I've considered getting grey or tan baseplates and maybe some other plates for landscaping to give mine a sturdier foundation and maybe some detail for display. I'm planning to ;-) Especially if I do manage to build a little landscape for my castle, I can add the Werewolf tree to the grounds for some extra atmosphere. Also, I have some of the CMF minifigures in Gorilla, Chicken, and other animal suits, and I'm thinking those might make for some good trick or treaters.
  14. (For the record, my cousin's kids are awesome and it does make me proud that my childhood collection has passed on )
  15. Haha, she sounds awesome :D Alas, I'm in a one-bedroom apartment at the moment, but maybe someday I'll have my own Lego room... I wonder what my own partner would think of that, hm ;-)
  16. Apologies if someone has already addressed this--I'm late to a rather long thread!--but how do you integrate lego storage with, um, the overall liveability/aesthetic of your home? I've got a no-lego-in-the-living-room-or-kitchen rule to keep Lego from taking over and scaring friends away (although most of my friends realize that Lego is awesome). Maybe this is actually not a problem to think much about }:-)
  17. My parents moved in 2010 while I was away for school and gave all of my Lego to my older cousin's children--tons of stuff, including the UCS Yoda statue and Black Seas Barracuda, old Adventurers and Castle sets, Aquazone . . . They kept so much of the other stuff from my room--including floppy disks (?!) and broken plastic bracelets, very outdated computer parts, etc. It still stings a little to think about it. I've since acquired a replacement Black Seas Barracuda (my all time favorite) on ebay, and other sets that I had always wanted as a kid. Set me back a few years, though...
  18. I'm interested in the movie, because I'm at least interested to see how Lego wants to show off for a wider, more general audience. The cast list is impressive. The thing I'm most interested in, though, is whether the tie-in sets will have their own theme (probably?) and how both classic and licensed elements might or might not be mixed together in the same set. In my mind the effect looks something like Time Cruisers, and I'm not sure how I feel about that.
  19. When is X-men Days of Future Past coming out? I'm sure we'll get new X-men then.
  20. Wow, it does look much more enticing with what you've done with it...
  21. Wow, I didn't realize that. :-/
  22. Hm, I was hoping there would be a glimpse of the Winter Village Market in this. If this isn't the final version, I'm thinking the Winter Village Cottage image on the final "Frohe Weihnachten 2013" page is a placeholder that will indeed be replaced with the 2013 set?
  23. In case you haven't seen it yet: Guessing this will determine a lot of the new sets we see next year. Interesting that all the themes are mixing together. Does this mean we'll see revivals or remixes of a bunch of old themes?
  24. Agreed. I think the big Hogwarts castle had at least one additional set that could be attached to it. That one also had huge interior detail. I'm not too impressed with this line just yet but I'll be curious to see what kind of sets follow in subsequent waves, assuming that's the intent here. As others have said, every set in this line looks like a version of something in Kingdoms.
  25. C'mon, how cute will the wind up robot-boys-and-girls be (it does look like she has the piece hooked around her neck-stud.) I'm excited for these.
