8862 is based on a Caterpillar 426 - getting a look at the real thing might help you come up with solutions for the rest of the build. I think the front section might give you a bit of a challenge...
I'm thinking that the pneumatic hoses are connected to the valve inside the truck - remember where the attachment points are. And then those hoses go into the rams on the arm. The MLAs are probably controlled by gears that can't be seen from this angle, or are secreted under an opening panel.
EDIT: There are two black gears on the side of the truck with indicator stickers above. They seem to relate to the tilt-rotator, I don't know how though.
